Gas prices... FML

So, I went to fill up today and those fukkers charged me 1.43/L.

For those Americans that is about 5.50/gallon.

I live in an area whose main economy is Oil and Gas... We have refineries everywhere. There is no reason for these shitty gas prices.

I know far north in Canada (Yukon, NWT) the gas prices are approaching 2.00 a litre.

Rant about your towns high gas prices here...

Da FUQ?!! That's like just over a dollar a litre! The last time I saw that was like 4 years ago.

It's because a number of refineries in the US are closed for extended maintenance (more than regular maintenance), and some may not even reopen. This caused the prices to shoot up recently and will indeed be a painful summer for the next several months.

It's about 3.70 for a gallon of the cheap stuff. Not really an issue since I don't own a car, but it might drive up prices and the cost of public transportation.

I know, I just saw that on the news, which is part of the reason why I made this thread.

I have heard that prices in my town we're supposed to approach 2 bucks a litre this summer...

@Arntorch - The price for premium at my local 7-11 is 1.70/L ish

Gas is 3.70 here as well; but it doesn't really help when you drive an 8 cylinder chevy with a v8 in it.

It's $3.80 here. Minimum wage per HOUR after taxes here is around $6.50-$6.53..
Gas needs to go back to like $2.00 where it was and belongs :P

I was blessed with a Miata that gets 35 miles to the gallon even though it's small

You know it's bad when gas is around/slightly above $4/gallon and you can say, "Oh, look, it's gone down!"

Pretty much the standard situation here. Minimum wage being $8/hour, gas being ~$4-$4.20/gallon. It's why I tend to avoid driving as much as I can.

The streetcar driver today joked on the PA when we passed a gas station saying

"And a happy easter gift from the gas companies here, where they only charge 1.35 / litre! GET HOSED!!"

late night streetcar rides are awesome. gas prices are not.

A lot of people are suffering from this gas price hike (or at least grieving according to a lot of newspaper columns)
Compared to 2008 though, it isn't that bad BUT the price of gas has increased approximately 60% in the past 8 years.

Coupled with a minimum wage increase of what? 20%? The numbers don't work out...

3.69/Gal

About the best in the U.S. I believe.

Been anywhere from ~$3.50 - $4.20/gal here recently. Right now it's at the $4.00 mark. It's a good thing I don't need to drive often.

[As the numbers stopped at £19.99 on the pump, I thought, "Just a little squeeze on the handle will leave me having to pay a nice round number."

Cashier: "That'll be £31.70, please"]
