Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Batch #1 complete)
Simfile submission for FFR
Link for the old thread: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=58177 ALL SUBMISSIONS NEED TO BE SENT AS A .ZIP OR .RAR. DO NOT SEND SUBMISSIONS VIA AN EXTERNAL LINK TO A FILE-HOSTING SITE, AS THEY MAY EVENTUALLY EXPIRE. Send your submissions to: ffrsubmissions@gmail.com Batch is OPEN. Submissions will be reviewed after 120 files are received. Please note that you are now allowed to send files at any time, however. Submission Rules If you want to submit files for FFR, please follow those rules. Or your file might be auto-rejected. --- SUBMISSION --- 1. As an FFR submission, you must use .dwi format for your simfile (.sm file is optional). If you use DDReam Studio, convert .sm file to .dwi using Stepmania Editor (just load and save once). 2. Your file should be compressed with zip or rar format, and a folder is needed in your zip/rar file. 3. The name of the folder (and .zip/.rar file) should be songname (username). i.e. [Magical 8bit Tour (jimerax)]. The song artist's name isn't needed in the folder name. 4. The name of the artist of the song should be written in the .dwi file. 5. One file/one e-mail is recommended, but you can submit multiple files in one e-mail. Please note that if you send multiple files in a single email, and it exceeds the 120 files we receive, then we'll randomly choose your submissions. You need to include only one file in a .zip/.rar file (do not send multiple simfiles in ONE .zip/.rar file). --- SONG --- 6. You can only use songs that we have permission, so check it on permission thread before you step/submit. 7. Use MP3 format for the song file. Bit rate of the MP3 should be 128kbps at least, 160kbps or higher preferably. If the MP3 meets bit rate requirement but the original sound quality is bad, we may require a better MP3. 8. If you only use a part of the mp3 for stepping, cut unnecessary parts of the mp3 to reduce the size of the .swf file. 9. The interval from the beginning to the part you put the first note of the song should be 2 or more seconds. If it's not, insert silence in the beginning of the song (or some notes in the beginning will be cut). If your accepted file doesn't have enough length of silence in the beginning when it's needed, your file will moved to conditional queue. If you don't know how to add silence, refer to this thread. --- SIMFILE --- 10. Graphics are not required. You should not include cdtitles in the submissions, having banners and BGs is ok but these just increase the file size. If you want to add BG in the .swf ask us after your file is accepted, and we will judge if the BG is appropriate. 11. Multiple difficulties (only 1 difficulty/1 file allowed), Freezes, Mines, Rolls are NOT allowed, so don't include them in your submissions. If you want to submit multiple difficulties for one song, submit them as separated files. 12. The difficulty should be one of these (Light, Standard, Heavy, Challenge). Don't use Beginner and Edit. 13. Hands (triples and quads) are allowed, but be careful for not using hands too much (especially on easier songs). There're many players who generally hate hands. 14. You can use any (4th - 192nd) notes, and BPM changes, but you cannnot use stops. 15. It should be a simfile that is fun to play for you and others, goes well to the song and captures all its themes and variations and has been confirmed to be on sync on a low music rate. Resubmission (This system is only available for the regular batches) If you submitted files and they got rejected with 6.7 or above rating, you can resubmit them with some fixes in the current or next period (ex. If your file gets rejected on Sep 20 and gets the resubmission privilege, you can resubmit it during Sep 20 - Dec 31). Resubmissions aren't counted on your submission cap. Just put [Resubmission] at the top of the name of zip/rar file and folder ,then submit. i.e. [Resubmission] Magical 8bit Tour (jimerax).zip. Only these files (best 10 non-accepted files in the last regular batch - only applied this time) can be counted as resubmissions. (other files are counted as normal submissions). 8-Bit Purple Comet (Reshiram) Alice's Garden (XelNya) Challenge the final mission! (VisD) Child Protective Services Theme Song (alloyus) Day's End (Zakvvv666) Dear Noriko (_.Spitfire._) Jeh Jeh Slammin' (Extended Mix) (Charu) LEG TAP (kommisar) N's Farewell (Xx{Midnight}xX) Rainbow Tylenol (PrawnSkunk) T.Y.H.Y (Coolboyrulez0) Tachyon (gameboy42690) If you want to send a fix on a queue'd chart, resend the revised file in a .zip or .rar to the submission e-mail. Do NOT only send a .dwi file. Include the audio file along with all other necessary components. Postponing Files: You are allowed to postpone any accepted file you have in the queue if you want to send file fixes in the near future, but are currently unable to do so. You must declare the length of time that you want to postpone. The maximum allotted time for postponing a file is 60 days (2 months). If you fail to make any fixes after your declared time period, your file(s) will be released from the postponed list and will become eligible for release as is. You may not postpone a file more than once. Submission Cap and Simfile Artist Point System [How to get Simfile Artist Points] Having a file (or more) in the game or queue -> +10 Getting 9.5 or more average point in a file -> +5 Getting 9.0 or more average point in a file -> +4 Getting 8.4 or more average point in a file -> +3 Getting 7.7 or more average point in a file -> +2 Getting 7.0 or more average point in a file -> +1 * collaboration files won't add points for you, but when you submit a collaboration file it's counted as 0.5 submission for each stepper. [Penalty] Getting less than 1.5/10 average score in a file -> penalty -1 Getting less than 1.0/10 average score in a file -> penalty -2 Submitting more files than the cap and not informing us which file to remove after we ask -> penalty -2 Submitting more files than the cap intentionally with alt account -> penalty -3 Apparently stealing steps from other simfiles -> penalty -10 [Submission Cap by Simfile Artist Point] Maximum number of files you can submit in a period (2 months): (1)Jan-Feb, (2)Mar-Apr, (3)May-Jun, (4)Jul-Aug, (5)Sep-Oct, (6)Nov-Dec Negative pts - 1 0-9pts - 2 10-16pts - 3 17-39pts - 4 40pts or more - 5 [Simfile Artist Point List] (excluding people who have 0pt or 10pts) User name - Current Point(Previous Point) [Submission Cap = 5] Silvuh - 93(82) bmah - 86(78) kommisar - 64(56) WV - 60(55) MarioNintendo - 59(48) megamon88 - 52(43) hi19hi19 - 43 [Submission Cap = 4] DossarLX ODI - 37(33) AlexDest - 29 woker-X - 28 YOSHl - 28(21) _.Spitfire._ - 28(23) jimerax - 27(25) kjwkjw - 27(25) MrPopadopalis25 - 26(24) DarkZtar - 26(22) TC_Halogen - 25(19) Elite Ninja - 25(24) SKG_Scintill - 25(24) leonid - 24 iironiic - 24(20) 0 - 24(23) Xayphon - 22 Niala - 20 Choofers - 20 samurai7694 - 20(16) Coolboyrulez0 - 19(16) Razor - 19(17) ninjaKIWI - 18 psychoangel691 - 18(14) Tidus810 - 18(15) Reshiram - 18(17) Ziergdsx18 - 17 Patashu - 17 [Submission Cap = 3] dore - 16 mi40 - 16(14) bob bob - 15 nois-or-e - 15 icontrolyourworld - 15 LongGone - 14(0) ichliebekase - 14(13) i love you - 13 Dark_Chrysalis - 13 Gundam-Dude - 13 Rebirth0 - 13 trumaestro - 13 zakvvv666 - 13(12) Jake Ferguson - 13(0) ElectricWerewolf - 12 Plan_Bsk81127 - 12 Wyde - 12 rushyrulz - 12 Xx{Midnight}xX - 12 yo man im awesome - 12 t-rogdor - 12 Rebirth0 - 12 i like it - 12 PrawnSkunk - 12(0) Condoct - 12(0) aperson - 11 buizel8888 - 11 Championanwar - 11 cry4eternity - 11 ~Zero~ - 11 dag12 - 11 One Winged Angel - 11 foilman8805 - 11 HammyMcSquirrel - 11 Netjet! - 11 dragonmegaXX - 11 FFR Pro 21 - 11 T-Force - 11 Sticklydude - 11 gameboy42690 - 11(10) FissionMailed1 - 11(0) alloyus - 11(0) VisD - 11(0) - If your name is not on the list and (1) you are a Simfile Author, your cap is 3. These are the file ratings used right now: [Main Ratings] [++] [Supreme, 10/10] Reserved for real masterpieces or flawless files, rare rating. Same as [+] for the purposes of acceptance, but you will get bonus points if your file gets this rating from 2 or more judges. [+] [Excellent/Great, 9/10 or 8/10] Highest rating, file is strongly accepted by the judge, maybe with minor suggestions. [+.] [Good/Okay, 7/10 or 6/10] File is either weakly accepted due to being somewhat generic/uninteresting or is good enough for FFR but could use significant improvement. [+?] [Mediocre/Almost, 5/10 or 4/10] The file is decent overall but needs some important tweaks in certain areas, or has many small technical errors, or doesn't have enough replay value. Not accepted without changes. [?] [Sub-par/Bad, 3/10 or 2/10] The file has potential, but needs significant reworking in order to be good enough for FFR. Not close to acceptance. [-] [Awful, 1/10] The lowest rating that you will likely achieve. The file is basically pretty bad and needs to be completely redone, or the file was rejected for the following: -A freeze arrow or mine was used anywhere in the file -A significantly incorrect BPM was used -A section of it was way, way, way too hard, like a wall of 64th quads or something similarly ridiculous If any of the above are noticed, the judge has the right to immediately quit out and give the file a [-] rating, regardless of the quality of the rest of the file. [--] [Unutterable, 0/10] Extremely bad file, or files just for kidding judges. Rare rating, and completely waste of time for judges. You will get some penalties if your file gets this rating from 2 or more judges. [Sub Ratings] - Add these ratings with the main ratings if needed. [#] The judge made the file (it may rarely happen due to mis-grouping). [<] There is already a better file for this song in the queue or in the batch, and the file is not suitable as a V2. [$] The file is better than the queue'd file that uses completely the same song, and the old one should be replaced with the new one (there's similarity in difficulty or stepping style). [!] The judge did not play the file for some reason, such as blatantly obvious permission issues (like anyone submitting a Led Zepplin file, for example), technical problems, or multiple difficulties in the file. As for Regular Judgement, submitted files (usually, 120 files) are divided into 3 groups. All files will be judged by four judges. Judge's ratings will be adjusted with their strictness and variation, and averaged. Average score is calculated with two ways - Raw Average (Sum of 4 scores / 4), and Adjusted Average ([Sum of 4 scores - 0.5*(Max + Min)] / 3). When either Raw or Adjusted average is.. 6.7 or above - the file will get resubmission privilege. 7.0 or above - the file will be accepted. THE QUEUE LIST As of May 4, 2013: 29 files are in the regular queue, 0 files are in the conditional queue. Files queue'd from Aug 2012 batch (4) Incident Zero (hi19hi19) Negions Fail (hi19hi19) THE LITTLE MERMAID (hi19hi19) Touki ni Michita Sougen (bmah) Files queue'd from Nov 2012 batch (25) A Lifetime (F-777 ReMiX) (PrawnSkunk) Art Of The Madness (MarioNintendo) Dead Batteries (Silvuh) Devil's Music Box (Jake Ferguson) Dim Wood (gameboy42690) Electrolosys (YOSHI) En Tamako No Ri (MrPopadopalis25) gPrOeWaEtRaFnUdL (Dave! Remix) (megamon88) Heartsifter (_.Spitfire._) Lunatic (megamon88) Macau Underground (kommisar) OVERklock (DarkZtar) Pictures at an exhibition (MarioNintendo) Rill Rill (Dr.Ozi Remix) (Coolboyrulez0) sign of hero (Silvuh) Stepfile This (WV) Still Shy VIP Instrumental (megamon88) Stuck (YOSHl) tetris (YOSHl) Throwin' Down (samurai7694) Tied The Room Together (Jake Ferguson) Toki (bmah) Unshakeable (MarioNintendo) VALLISTA (LongGone) Zombie Killing, Blood Spilling (woker-X & bmah) If your file is not on either of these lists, it has been rejected and likely needs a decent or complete overhaul before it would be accepted. |
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I barely know anything about this, but couldn't you just delete all of the 'files queue'd on *date* (0)'?
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Again.

Guess I'm an hour late oops :) |

Oh cool a new one of these. Easier to keep track of all the drama that goes by in this thread lmao
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Note to judges who are reviewing resubmissions: please try to take into account the notes from the previous judges who reviewed those files. None of you so far are likely doing this. They're resubmissions for a reason - otherwise, might as well submit these as a regular file. We're trying to reduce the tossing of files back and forth due to differing opinions. When you read the notes from other judges - they may reveal certain aspects that you may not have understood or noticed.

I'm anxious to see how my collab did. =S
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I double rejected it
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
All of the judges should get their notes done and out of the way early that way things can move along faster and not have to wait til the end of the month. =]

It's not that different from the other version tbh, so it should be pretty quick.
I also missed two files, so here's my update. Sorry, it just got a little worse: [++] = 0 [+] = 6 [+.] = 5 [+?] = 5 [?] = 3 [-] = 6 [--] = 0 (although for one file this was tempting...) [n/a] = 1 (my own file) without resubmissions: [++] = 0 [+] = 4 [+.] = 2 [+?] = 5 [?] = 3 [-] = 6 [--] = 0 |

Can't wait to see the batch notes
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Is it me or is there a lot of rejects on this batch(well on part of it)?
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
considering bmah and I are on the same team, there's probably quite a bit of overlap, and deservedly so
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Lots pf rejected files this batch not just you
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
How many of the judges have sent in their notes so far?
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
five, myself included
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Wow that still leaves 7.
|

You guys shouldn't feel too bad; I'm getting sucky results for my own songs too. Put aside the point system and just think of it as a learning process. Speaking of which, I've noticed that there are several new simfile artists in this batch, which is a great sign.
|
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
that's true^^ my ++ wasn't from anybody I think I've ever played a file from, and then there were some not-good-but-you-can-tell-they-just-need-experience files

Cool, how many people do we have left to turn in notes. Its like Gundam, Kayla and Rebound as far as I know, missing anyone?

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I'm bored. BRB finishing my notes.
Also, i think that the deadline shouldn't be set for so long because some of the judges won't even touch the files until the deadline date starts to get close. I think setting it to at most two weeks should be good enough rather then setting it to nearly a month. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Yeah, you'd get notes a lot faster if it was set for two weeks (with anyone who can't finish in time being hurried along or replaced with a backup).

Set date is pretty much to control the rate of files available and released, I'm fairly sure.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I don't see any merit in releasing files everyday constantly, just difficult to keep doing.
It only works for event time. |
Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Speaking of events, do we have enough easy files for an event to pump a bunch of easy files into the game? Sort of like the beginner skill token event, except they're just released as public files.
