WHY IN THE WORLD DO SO MANY CARTOONS HAVE PUNS FOR THE EPISODE TITLES

the Loud House has them, my life as a teenage robot has them, pepper ann has them, and probably most cartoons have them.

to make you chuckle and question how it's relevant to make you want to watch it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...r_Ann_episodes

episode 1 - Ziterella instead of Cinderella

episode 8 - The Environ-mentals instead of environmentalists because they're mental

episode 9 - Crush and Burn instead of crash and burn

episode 11 - Sketch 22 instead of Catch 22

season 2 episode 17 - An Otterbiography instead of autobiography

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...Robot_episodes

episode 7 - Ear no Evil instead of Hear no Evil

episode 8 - Unlicensed Flying Object instead of Unidentified Flying Object (UFO)

episode 14 - the boy who cried robot instead of the boy who cried wolf

episode 23 - saved by the shell instead of saved by the bell

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...House_episodes

episode 2a - heavy meddle instead of heavy metal

episode 4b - a tale of two tables instead a tale of two cities

episode 5b - In Tents Debate instead of intense debate

episode 8a - Linc (the name of the character is Lincoln) or swim instead of sink or swim

i like puns, but honestly i feel like the whole point of some episodes are just based on puns

i like puns but i like it better when the creators of video games actually think of an original level or world name instead of basing it off a pun; it makes the game seem more real

(that sounded a lot more harsh than i meant it to be; i like puns a lot but original names makes the game more special to me)

probably because puns are more effective and easier to think of than original titles, and easier to say

it's probably a trope by now.

altho one of my favorite cartoons ever is ed edd and eddy and all of their episode titles include "ed" somehow.

I don't have an upvote option, but I'm unofficially upvoting in this comment.

Yeah. If the title was dead serious it would be better.
Animation WD-11; in which a mouse pilots a nautical machine.
Animation HB-55; in which the day to day life of a neolithic stonemason is documented.
Animation AT-23b; part two of a comic chronicling the lives of alien martial artists.
Animation HB-27; a rabbit protagonist thwarts death time and again, outwitting a speech-impaired hunter

I mean good question, but I think a better one would be "Why do so many cartoon characters wear gloves?"

That one actually has a given answer

Back in the 1920s the picture quality needed help from some serious contrast. It was easier to see a glove hand do things then just a weird extension of the arm goop move about. Look how uncanny some of the Felix shorts look pre-glove

Also people tend not to realize this but for the working class at the turn of the century people actually wore gloves a lot of the time, so it didn't seem unnatural. I forget the name of the trope but it's a case of the design choice becoming obsolete and sticking around anyway because we still expect and accept it in the context of a cartoon
