This is completely mindblowing.

Yesterday afternoon, six squad cars, two fire and rescue, and an ambulance flew past my house. I have a terrible habit of thinking it's for somebody I know whenever I see an ambulance.

This time it was.

I got a phone call from one of my best friends about two hours after it happened. He was crying his eyes out, and through broken speech, I managed to hear him mutter "Max is dead, I don't know what's wrong with Harper, but she's alive." I almost dropped the phone, I was in utter shock. I was just getting over another friend's death which happened only a week ago, and I got completely blindsided by this.

News story here: http://www.ktvz.com/global/story.asp?s=7629596

It's a complete shock that Harper, the passenger, made it out alive, let alone remain conscious during the wreck. She and Max were two of my closest friends, and Max had just gotten out of rehab. Everybody local that knows them is still in complete shock.

That sucks. Maybe he shouldn't have been driving over the speed limit.. especially with ice and everything.

Stupid weather.

Oh, crap, there was almost nothing left of that car.
Sorry about your loss, man.

If there's one thing I know about the Cascades in winter time, it's that you never go above 30 mph.

Those pictures are mind blowing.

Even more mind blowing that one of them is still alive.

Best wishes to you, Spazzbite, as well as your friends.

That's harsh dude. My sympathies. I know what it's like losing a close friend, I hope you and everyone else get through this ok.

My condolences go out to you Spazz. I too know what it's like to lose a close friend.

On a side note I've never met someone else who also has a habit of thinking they know the person in an ambulance passing by.

No alcohol. Matt said they were sober.

I saw Harper earlier, she's out of the hospital already. She's, amazingly, up and walking. She has multiple scrapes, cuts, and lacerations, some glass in her face, and her spleen is torn up, but that's the most of the damage. She greeted me with a smile, but as soon as I gave her a hug she burst into tears.
