Tapmania - Stepmania for iPad / Android
I have recently gotten in touch with the developers of Tapmania. Tapmania is currently available in the Apple App Store. However, development has been ceased sometime in 2013. I downloaded this game and was really impressed with how well it ran. You can even import .sm or .dwi files (I think both) into the game to play them.
One of the developers I have been talking to would like to continue developing this game. There are some bugs in the iOS version that need to be fixed, along with new features that would make the game even better. He has asked if there is someone who would like to help with this project that has so much potential. What I did play on my iPad was a lot of fun. I wish I knew about this sooner. Originally, there was meant to be an Android version of it as well, but that unfortunately never happened. So, if there are any Android developers out there who would like to take this on, that would be great! We are looking for both iOS AND Android developers to help out. Please send me a message if you are interested. Also, please join the forums. They have been very inactive and I have just finished cleaning them up from all the spam they have been receiving. |
Re: Tapmania - Stepmania for iPad / Android
can we get paid for simfiles

Re: Tapmania - Stepmania for iPad / Android
Nothing about this project is going to be paid at the moment. If it takes off enough then there may be many possibilities in the future.

Does seem interesting though, but I'm no developer. |

I imagine people will have the option to tap the receptors directly? If so, one-handed play is really gonna take off.

Ehh I guess I've kinda been wanting to talk about having a decent mobile rhythm game for a while now. I feel like it's an area to explore, etc.
I played around with it one weekend a few years ago and made this for android+ios+pc+web+etc. I've been touching it on and off since then, It supports FFR songs as well as a few other random formats. |

From what I'm told, OGG wasn't supported in iOS 3/4 when this program was developed, but it should be able to be done now. An Android port would definitely support OGG if developed.
The buttons use a finger tracking system and it works extremely well. Not having to worry about keeping your fingers completely still is really nice and I would assume would also be great with index play. An index player would have to test that, though. |

Re: Tapmania - Stepmania for iPad / Android
Is this the one that only had xmods? My friend was like "yo play this" and I said "k. lemme set the speed real high 1st", only there wasn't CMods. I still managed to make him shit his pants watching me play at X12 or something though.
Fun game. Now you can show off to all your friends how fast you can break your iPad screen lol |

O2Jam U was a great music game for iOS, and they had a really good layout when they made it. If they did the same style with Tapmania, I could see it going places

fun fact: WinDEU is currently in the process of building a touhou-shooter that allows customization of bullet patterns sequenced to music, quantized by BPM and rhythmic notation (i.e. more freedom than Sounddodger): it's still in development, but it's pretty cool regardless |

Like levels morphing and changing as the song goes. Or the example that video shows of making bullets go in tune with the music. I feel like this particular area hasn't been explored fully to be honest. The only things I've seen made with a concept similar to this is using pure RNG to the waveform and that gets dull pretty quickly. |
Re: Tapmania - Stepmania for iPad / Android
try beats or beathazard

Re: Tapmania - Stepmania for iPad / Android
Since you can import SM files, yayyy more screen breaking time :D
But how strict is the timing window? |
