Pawn: An Online MMO Shooter

www.pawngame.com

I've been playing this for a while, and it's teh awesomes. Basically, Pawn is an online shooter (thanks to EB for clarification). Well, you get to play against people from around the world, with weapons such as the Spaz 12, L85A3, and the SMRC.

Along with being able to play against people, you have the ability to actually MAKE YOUR OWN MAPS! Yes, it's that 1337 (or not). Anyways, you can make, save, and host, up to 5 different maps. And you can also make more accounts for map-making purposes if needed.

Also, you have full chatting capability, both in the lobby, and in-game. There is also a ranking system, and its a VERY long ranking list, going from "n00b" all the way to the ranking of "General of the Army". There is also World Rankings, and if you get to 1st Place on the World Rankings, your ranking will become a skull, until 1st Place is taken over by someone else.

Even in beta, this game rox my sox. But just so you know, it's "not" a very good idea to constantly use the Abrahm L2K and the SMRC constantly; you may be considered noobish, and may be called a "gaybrahm", "noobrahm", etc., if you constantly use the Abram L2K.

I am also in a clan called S.I.K. just so you know... and yes there are home-made clans. There is also a Pawn Game forum for general posting about Pawn and other stuff. If you go to suggest something/report a bug, post in "Suggestions/Bugs", and also be sure to read the "Suggested Ideas/Reported Bugs" sticky to make sure your suggestion/bug hasn't been posted about yet.

BTW, I am a Specialist (6th Class) in Pawn. And maybe i'll see one of you!

PS: Yes I made this post very detailed.
PSS: I don't care what people think. I made this topic because I could. >=)

EDIT: SCREENIES!

Hmm. I'm always a fan of shooters and MMO's. Got any screenshots? Vids?

That first screenshot looks horrible, so it's a 2d shooter with guys who jump and ****, maybe if it was some sort of Starfox 64 type shooter I'd be more interested.

It's basically Soldat, except that the Crouch button does nothing.

You should try Space Cowboy. It's pretty close to a Starfox 64 shooter, and you'll love it if you enjoy Starfox. At low levels, I don't think you can PvP, only MvP, but low levels would just get killed, anyway, by high levels. The MvP isn't that bad for MvP, and the missions are rather fun, in my opinion. Kill stuff, collect stuff, and return, or navigate through somewhere. The game's beautiful on high graphic settings, but can be played on lower ones.

Updates on the first post. It's a movie of Pawn. Since it was laggy, I couldn't do very well, but it sets up as a "preview" of sorts.

And this thing looks like it's made in Flash, whereas Soldat looks REALLY GOOD.

Anywho, how is this an MMO? If you can make your own map and there are rounds of play it doesn't seem like much of an MMO. It's just a shooter with rankings. I wouldn't consider Battlefield 2 an MMO at all, but it has the same sort of thing (and is most likely way the **** better than this, despite being EA-tastically buggy).

Thanks for bombing this topic.

Hey, at least I like it... it's something. But I see Space Cowboy... and I want it lol.

Re: Pawn: An Online MMO Shooter

I can remove the whole post, if you want, I only talked about it because he wanted to play an MMO like Starfox 64.

Also, he inspired me to create a topic, so I'm perfectly fine deleting the post here.

Re: Pawn: An Online MMO Shooter

That's fine. I don't really care. It's just a lil annoying to be bombed because of "oh this doesn't seem much like an MMO" or "oh this is made from flash, it sucks" kinds of comments.

Re: Pawn: An Online MMO Shooter

IAAW, I'm just saying, if you or anybody else is calling it an MMO, they need to check what the definition of MMO is.

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online = lots of people (on the order of hundreds or possibly thousands) in a single persistent world online. If it's not an MMO, games are played in sessions or rounds with limited numbers of people. There may be a massive amount of people playing, and they may all be playing it online and playing multiplayer games, but unless the games themselves are massively multiplayer (ie: not just 32-64 people playing one round at a time), then the game isn't an MMO.

Stat-tracking does not make a game an MMO. MMO's are, by definition, in persistent worlds, so stat-tracking is usually needed to make sure that your character in that world is persistent and grows with the world. Lots of non-MMO games track stats. Hell, Starcraft records some stats about you, and tons of people play it, but that doesn't make it an MMO. BF2 (I believe I mentioned before) tracks TONS of stats, but it's still played round-by-round like any other non-MMO game. Actually, I'm 99% sure BF2 tracks more statistics about players than Planetside, even though Planetside is definitely an MMO.

I'm not ragging on the game or anything, I'm just saying it's not an MMO if it's played in rounds. Calling it that is misleading.

I mostly call online games MMO's, but I am pretty sure that this would not be considered an MMO. I'm sorry if I offended you much, but yeah, it's very important that I remove the "MMO" part.

Did you not read any of the posts of the people above you?

Well, anyway, although the graphics don't look good, they don't determine how fun the game is. I, personally, am having tons of fun on a number of games, right now, but that doesn't mean others shouldn't try this.

Lol, i played this game, then got kind of bored. I mean it was quite fun, but at the end of the day there is barelly any tutorial, and everyone seemed to be blowing me to bits after like 2 seconds.

Also, everyone had bigger and better guns than our team, and ended up killing all of us in a few shots.

Quite fun, but i'm not sure if i'll be playing again :s.

I specifically hate that. Thats why you somewhat have to learn the weaker weapons for those specific occassions.

Well i started playing the game. Its fun. The only thing that sucks is when you play on a map with unlimited everything. Its like instant death.
