Okay let me re-ask this, which one would you prefer me to use in this tournament?
lmfao

The 729 one

Re: hi19hi19's Delicious Custom Theme Tournament

The advantage of the 900 one is that if a bunch of people AAA a song then not AAAing doesn't hurt you that much.

As noname pointed out, the advantage of the 729 one is that it's more fair to the top people. That is, if you AAA and then someone else does, the people you did better than are as far from you as they should be. Having another person tie your score only improves THEIR score, not everyone's, so it doesn't hurt you as much. (I prefer the 729.)

Shouldn't this type of thing be determined before the tournament starts? I mean, if you wait till the tournament ends, people will try to use this to maximize credit payouts. I thought you decided to use all three scoring methods? The only question is whether to use the 900/729 scoring method.

That's the only question I'm asking. I decided early on to use all 3 scoring methods and that has not changed, nor will it.

I already know how I would have done it with regards to the Tournament Points (I've been calculating them roughly as we go)- I was using the 1000/1000/1000/900 system.
But qqwref has brought up an interesting alternative and I am liking the arguments so far for the 1000/1000/1000/729 method. I'll say right now the difference between the systems is pretty minor in end results because of how few ties there were in this tournament. But the principle of the thing is still absolutely worth discussing.

Unlike some other tournament hosts *cough* I'm not ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED the way I do things is the best way. If people bring up convincing arguments for something to change, I will consider it.
I won't change something specifically to help anyone get more credits or whatever, that would be absurd. But if the argument they present is reasonable and fair, then it's only reasonable and fair on my end to give their ideas a chance to be said. Having a dialogue with your tournament participants is a good thing.

Wow, I really dislike nerves.

Near-AAA first stream, freak out from nerves and butcher the second stream. AAA the middle and second stream, freak out from nerves of possibly making up for the first butcher and shaky hands good-attack the last stream.

The 1000-1000-1000-900 idea would benefit me so.. do it.

See this is a good example of the kind of argument I don't consider :P

If you're talking about whether or not everyone will get credits, everyone who submitted on time for all rounds will definitely get credits, yes.
Those who submitted for all rounds but needed extensions / late scores will also all get credits, but probably less.

Just did the calculation on my fluke run here, and I'm 45 points behind Zek.

I think I give up...

45 points? You just need to improve your score by 2 more goods, don't quit now. :evil:

Improve the fluke run by 2 goods... =/

I'll keep trying to improve further... but it's discouragingly tough

don't forget that people that aren't playing for prizes shouldn't be counted in tourney points, because that'll have a big effect =o

Honestly it may seem like we haven't been pushed, but I haven't tried this hard in any tournament, not even the official. I haven't gotten a single AAA this tourney and I was more determined to play the higher division songs.

You did a great job with this tournament.

NOW GIMME CREDITS

Well my Wifi is running exceptionally slow, so I'll post this before it decides to quit for the night. I'd like my second place ><;;

I'll have to apologize to Zek, he did such a good job on this song ><;;
