Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
So did anyone get this game and what do you think about it so far. Obviously this past week has been a little rough due to server issues but last night they fixed it for the most part.
I will update this if anyone plays. Put you character name and what server you are on. You can put your main class to if you like but it's not needed. Character list and server: rsr2 - Ulamine Mossflower - Coeurl Stiltzkin - Hazanko Rage - Exodus |

Thaumaturge - Hazanko Rage - Exodus
Haven't had much time to play, but it seems really promising and there is a lot more to do than in the initial launch. |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
My brother plays it, so I'll probably end up trying it out sometime soon. I hear its much better than the initial release.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
I'm probably going to get it later, looks really good.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
no ty once this fails and goes f2p i'll pick it up
using p2p in this current day and age is a nonefficient model for both parties imo |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
saw this in the mall yesterday...bought the new tiger woods game instead gg
mmo rpg final fantasies just don't appeal to me (though i've bought every game except XI and XIII-2) and iirc have done pretty bad in the past |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
too much hype around it, once it goes back to f2p I'll try it again

This is exactly why I don't touch MMOs a lot anymore; you should be able to pay one flat fee to get rights to the game and the rest should be free. ESPECIALLY when it's a game from a company like Square Enix, a name that everyone knows makes more than enough money to support the game already. Although don't jinx it Eric; I said the same thing about FFXI and that's still on a P2P model eleven years after its release, which I just want to punch the fuck out of SE for... |

Just hit level 50 (the cap) today with my bard. Here I am chilling with some story NPCs about to progress further in the main story and delve into end-game content. Good stuff. CBR Longshot - Level 50 - Bard - Cerberus (EU) Server |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
I've been playing this for awhile. Just hit level 30 hunter and am working towards bard. I don't remember the server name but it isn't that.
Loving this way more than WoW. I'm willing to pay $15 a month for it. |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
yo eric, how's the rp scene on your server?
|
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
been playing since it came out in Aug. got my summoner/scholar at 50, my alchemist and weaver at 50, and currently working on botanist. The end game content is fun

Balmung = Legacy RP server Gilgamesh = Non-Legacy RP server and you can look into http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/ a bit better gear, endgame dungeoning and perhaps primal hard mode begins today for me |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Anythings fun with friends, But I still don't get why its worth the 15/mo with so many F2P options on the market. Especially with how the first try went I'm surprised many people came back at all...
Is the main draw only that its a Final Fantasy game, or did I miss something with the month I gave it? I always get quoted story but it seems like standard fantasy RPG cliches ad infinitum. I mean what MMO doesn't have some kind of story, compare to GW2 for example. Though I'll concede the game had virtually no end-game content at least they weren't charging monthly. What sets it apart for you guys? |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Just picked this up earlier today and so far I'm loving it, any tips for someone just starting out?
Character: Mourning Fall |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Haven't played this in a while but might pick up another month when the new patch hits (2.2 that is) :D
On your main just follow along the main story and the sub quests in each quest hub as well as hunting log and you should be fine with no grinding required. Do duty roulette as well. |
Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
I'll probably start playing again now that I finished bravely default.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
I'm currently playing on the Gilgamesh server myself. I did notice that the people there are a bit more cordial and love to be much more helpful, which imo, really shines me on more to this game. I have to say, I'm VERY surprised I'm loving the game as much as I do.
Also love how you were bashing it CBR, then started playing it. XD Honestly I felt the same way until I started to play it. Also, imo, the p2p way, as I see it, if it's through a good company (such as SE, who seem to take it somewhat srsly), I have no qualms shelling out the money, as it's not much per month (looks at my paychecks). Yep, not much at all lol. I'm really loving that I'm using my PSOne (yes, the white PSX controller that was released with the PSOne super small console xD) with a ps2/usb adapter, and FFXIV is using it like a fuggen CHAMP! Makes it even easier to switch the buttons to the XO^[] (you get the picture) mode. Currently: Pugilist - Z'jhime Beltith - Gilgamesh I have a feeling I may be playing this quite a bit. lol edit: also, if I remember correctly FFXIV is $12.99 a month. Also, f2p tends to be MUCH more expensive when you look at things from a broader point of view. Most f2p games are also pay to win games *coughVindictuscoughcoughmostAeriagamescoughcough* f2p mmo's are being plagued with the pay to win model, which was also why most PSO people were NOT happy that Sega would be adding a cash shop. Thankfully, it doesn't break the game like many other mmo's do. FFXIV is set apart for me in the way the UI is laid out, the controls (VERY easy to learn to use, tho haven't tried kb/mouse yet), and especially the story (I love jrpg's in general, so I'm biased *shrug*). The way SE goes about the game is very...interesting and really tries to get the player more engrossed into game. The way the battle is similar to FFXII is rather nice, as I'm one of them people who didn't like the mediocre storyline but loved how it was like free roam turn-based battle. lol! I do think the phenominal joystick/gamepad capability really sets it apart, though. That and the community doesn't seem to be a total bunch of asshole douchebags, as most f2p mmos tend to have. Plus it's very polished, especially considering the train wreck FFXIV 1.0 was...*facepalm* |
