Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 Released!

Click banner to download the updated pack!

Update for OppIrish here

Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 is here!

Another spring has come and gone, which means it's time for another installment of Stepping Stones. Like the earlier packs, this one is geared towards the more beginner/casual crowd, showcasing a variety of music, stepmen, and charts. There is a lot in here (it's actually kind of a heavy pack lmao def. my fault sorry everyone) - 45 files that should be quite complete - full credits, cdtitles, graphics and at least 2 charts for every file. There will be charts for the newest of newcomers, comfy intermediate stuff, and even a couple of challenge and edit charts for the real elite. My main concern for making these packs is that everyone can find something they enjoy, so here's hoping I did just that!

WOW TWO SPECIAL FILES WHAT???

WTF (Where They From)

+ 2 super secret extra files! (add them to the list yourselves lmfao)

SPECIAL THANKS THAT NEED TO BE SAID IN LITERALLY ZERO ORDER OF IMPORTANCE
- PorkyPink - extra help with some gfx, really appreciate it man!
- hi19hi19 - For submitting 2 files with graphics (and then 7 more without wow thanks), plus going over my file with me and giving me tips
- MinaciousGrace - for also helping me out with tips and critiques
- Actually this one is the most important one - To everyone who submitted to the pack, you guys are what made it happen

And a shoutout to Gameboy##### for your help on that collab (even though it's mostly your file now :p). It was so much fun and you gave me lots of ideas and insight.

I really hope everyone enjoys this pack! Have fun!

See you next year...?

Lots of fun files in here. If you're playing the whole pack, don't miss out on the last half of the pack, the S and T names have a lot of good stuff.

I only made it to The Entertainer before running out of steam, but of the files I played, shoutouts to whoever stepped SURVIVOR. Really fun file. Honorable mention for Supersquatting, it was a little rough around the edges layering/consistency-wise but that did not get in the way of it being just a really enjoyable file, definitely one worth coming back and playing more. I love the changes that were made since the last time I saw it.

EDIT- Oh man, SURVIVOR is a bmah! Awesome. In my opinion it's up there with Double Helix in terms of enjoyable bmahs, great stuff.

I had a small issue playing "Walk With Me" in SMO because artist name contains "Ku(?)ka" and it acted like others didn't have the song.

Great pack overall~

Scin you're a boss for charting Logic Agent. I cannot wait to play these.

Also: Kraez & PorkyPink your graphics are neat.

I'm a major fan of the Hiaori ones.

Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 Released!

I'll get to judging this pack, especially since my MA is now existent and I could use these files. Sorry about 45 Rotations though. :<

EDIT: Otherwise noted, I played the hardest chart.

4 Walls - Had to play this with the background off cause it kept moving asdafasd. For the chart, the holds felt awkward and the last section was copy/pasted from earlier, leaving it to a disappointing ending. It did feel like a more energetic version of Near Dark, which is quite a plus.

A Baptist Church In Georgia - There were a few parts that stuck out as a bit much, but the chart was pretty good. Got a SDG on sightread, so yay. :D

Butterfly Joe - Really nice chart. The jacks threw me off a bit, though.

Byzantium - lol Motoi Sakuraba does the Dream Theatre thing. Pretty fun, even if the 16th jumpjacks were a bit too shocking for a sightread.

Cafe Terrace Polka - Yeah, this ain't gonna happen. Mines that close to the notes means it feels like a shitty ITG Survival course.

Carry The Blessed Home - Feels like Stupid Hoe, but it's slower and there's less going on. I quit out cause I was too bored. Sorry. :<

Chicken Head - You are just not consistent with those minijacks and it drove me effing crazy. Removing them completely would vastly improve the cart considerably.

Cyllage City - Nice chart, pity it feels like you gave up before the climax.

Glitch Nerds - Certainly unexpected, but it did feel like it was missing something.

Gokusaishiki (Expert) - Kinda feels weird to have the hardest segment at the beginning. The rest was fine.

Highscore - Liked how you kept keeping it fresh while still keeping the jacks consistent.

Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird - Till When - I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it.

Hua Sui Yue (Hard) - Pretty interesting. Didn't feel like it was too long and was engaging for it's entirety. Not touching Edit cause that just feels like a nightmare.

Kyuusei Argyoi - Kinda torn. On one hand it plays well, but on the other it feels too simple. Gah, I don't know.

Little Too Close - My god I wasn't expecting that. That was a whole lot more interesting that I thought it was going to be.

Logic Agent - Good solid fun. :)

Mega V (Volt) - Was okay. Those 12ths don't feel right though.

My Friend Mudkip - Pretty good challenge, but damn did that drag on.

Nannou - Pretty neat, but in the first half there was too many left notes. Kinda felt like a shitty solo file.

Nibelung Valesti (Expert) - Nothing really grabbed me in the chart. Sorry.

Onna Kotoba no Soushitsu - Very cool, and thank you for showing some restraint during that minijack section.

OppIrish (Expert) - Those gimmick pissed me off, but on CMOD the chart's pretty fun.

Panda - Nice roll usage, but you probably should be consistent in their usage. Also, nice radio intro.

Pistolero - Dear god cut the damn song down text time.

still not done

It's staccato, dude. It's a polka. Go hop those fingers!

I love the variety of songs and charts this time around, the wide breadth of styles covered is refreshing to say the least.

All around, Onna Kotoba no Soushitsu is my personal favourite of the pack, I can see myself coming back to this from time to time by sheer virtue of how fun it was to play.

Honourable mention to Precious Heart and Survivor as well. Also to Highscore for being a fun jacking file.

Looking forward to attempting to PA a lot of these, bravo to everyone involved.
