hey i grabbed a setup i liked from the mafiascum wiki let's go

9 players:
5 Trees
1 Firefighter
1 2-Shot Tracker
2 Arsonists

Tree - You are aligned with the Town, and win when the Arsonists are eliminated. If you are lynched, you become a Tree Stump. Tree Stumps are aligned with the Town and can still post in the thread, but their vote does not count, and they do not count toward parity for the Arsonists' win condition. If you are killed in any other way while you are either a Tree or a Tree Stump, you are dead for real and leave the game.

Firefighter - You are aligned with the Town, and win when the Arsonists are eliminated. Each night, you may target a player. That player is immune to being doused by the Arsonists for that night. You cannot target yourself.

2-Shot Tracker - You are aligned with the Town, and win when the Arsonists are eliminated. Each night, you may target a player to learn who that player targets in the night, if anyone. You can use this ability twice during the game. You cannot target yourself.

Arsonist - You and your partner NAME are aligned with the Wolves, and win when the Town are eliminated or nothing can prevent that from happening. Each night, you or your partner may carry out one of the following team actions:
1. Target a player to douse them.
2. Ignite all doused players, killing them.
You and your partner may talk anytime in this chat: <link>

Players are NOT informed when they are doused.
The Firefighter's douse protection applies only for the night it is used. It doesn't stop a future dousing on the same person.

No-lynch/no-kill: Off
Cardflips: On, full role flips
Out of Thread Chat: Off
Insta and Knife in the Box: On
Wolves can talk anytime
Phantoms: Off

I want to try something different with times. If we decide not to do anything different, then days will run from 12pm to 12am server time and nights will run from 12am to 12pm, as with other turbos.

I'm considering making this a short night game. "Night" would only last 1 hour (12am to 1am), and then day would begin again at 1am, with or without actions having processed. The firefighter and arsonists have 9 hours to submit their actions after night starts (so, due at 9am server).

This means day may start without a death, and a death reveal may happen later during the day. Example

So, timeline:

12:00:59am - Day ends, lynch is revealed
12:01am to 1:00am - Night (no posting)
1:01am - Day begins, people can post
9:00:59am - Night action deadline
9:01ish - Death reveal, if any
Repeat

For/against? It mainly lets people post at times of day you usually wouldn't be able to post at in a turbo, but maintains some silence for "night" without having real nighttalk.

9 hours to submit is negotiable, I just blatantly stole it from the game I linked for the example.

that's a cool setup. so wolves can only kill through igniting? meaning that it's expected that there won't be any nightkills for the first few nights, and then all of a sudden game will end in a dramatic flash of fire?

What happens if Firefighter targets a player who was doused on a previous night?

wolves can play it however they like, but yeah, it's probably to their advantage to build up some douses

the player is still doused, but can't be doused again that night. they don't get un-doused

e: this post made me notice i forgot to edit some stuff with the rules i copied from another turbo. updated to give wolves daytalk and turn no-lynch off

Maybe, but yeah, I'd say I wouldn't give this game a chance, even if it started now I think (unless the game can end before Wednesday night).

Thursday and beyond until the following Tuesday, I'll not be in a position to give a game my all and it would just be unfair to anyone else, lol.

I remember playing this setup somewhere (or one very similar to this) and that it was pretty wolfsided because the POE can remain very large and then all of a sudden the game is lost, or something like that

i don't think it's quite that bad, but it's true that lynches are really town's only way of working through the POE

most mislynches get confirmed, and the soonest arsos can win is after 3 mislynches, which would be the same as usual for a game of this size

i think it's a little much to give town a cop but maybe they could do with some kind of info power like a tracker, but then 2 PRs against basically 0 can get hairy

I rewrote this post to be more coherent comparing this to a more standard setup.

Pros:
stumps can still help solve
kills can be wasted on stumps

Cons:
0 info for town
town rarely uses the tree stump role well
larger POE to mislynch from with potential for endgaming (example: mislynching at 5-2 followed by two kills is gg, compared to normally 3-2)

I guess I'd add a 1-shot tracker to town, maybe to a tree stump without taking away their tree stump role lol. kinda weird but w/e

i'm going to turn one of the trees into a 2-shot tracker

i think 1-shot tree tracker is a lil strange because it kind of softens losing a potential claim battle but it isn't a super powerful thing in the first place? unless you're sure you hit, ofc

e: added, hopefully the use of "target" is enough to make it clear that the tracker can't see igniting
