TWG CLXIII: Allies and Adversaries - GAME THREAD
 
It is currently Day 1. Night 2 will begin at 12am server time (1am EST) on Thursday, January 25.

The format:

- 12h Night / 36h Day
- Night start
- Colour cardflips. Roles are not revealed on death. Humans flip green and wolves flip red unless otherwise specified.
- Out of Thread Discussion: Off
- Insta: On
- Phantoms: Off
- Night talking: Off

In this game, most power roles do not pick targets directly. Instead, every player (including vanillas and wolves) submits an allegiance PM at the start of the game and every night after, choosing a player as their closest Ally, and another player as their loathsome Adversary. Whoever a PR targets will use their target's allegiances to determine who their power gets used on. If a PM is not sent, the previous Ally/Adversary pair will be used.

This format is semi-closed. You will know what roles may exist in the game, but not precisely which ones.

Potential Roles:

Human PRs:
1x Wise Seer - On first night, starts with a random vanilla human check. Each following night, checks the flip colour of their target's Adversary. If they skip a night of using their power, their next check will check alignment instead of colour. Cardflips grey.
1x Adept Guardian - Protects the Ally of the player they target. If they skip a night of using their power, their next power usage will protect both target's Ally and target's Ally's Ally. Bulletproof to Vigi. Cardflips grey.
1x Vigi - Kills the Adversary of the player they target, but must rest for one night after making a kill. Cardflips red.
1x Jailkeeper - May jail either the Ally or the Adversary of their target, negating their allegiance PM, preventing death, and roleblocking them. Bulletproof to Vigi.
1x Pink Ranger - Marks the target's Adversary with a pink paintball at night. That player will cardflip pink instead of their usual cardflip colour, and the Pinkmaster will be informed if one of their marks stops flipping pink. After successfully using three shots, is notified by the host how many players who flip pink are wolves, and may no longer tag. Cardflips pink.
1x Greenmaster - Has 3 shots. Each night, may target a player. If that player's Ally flips green, this Ally is informed of the Greenmaster's identity. If one of the greens visited by the Greenmaster stops flipping green, the Greenmaster is notified by the host and loses all remaining shots.


Wolf PRs:
1x Doublecross Wolf - Guesses the current allegiances of the target. If both are correct, the target dies in addition to the nightkill. Cannot Doublecross a Sabotaged target.
1x Freeze Wolf - Negates the target's allegiance PM that night, and roleblocks the target's Ally. Bulletproof to Vigi. Cardflips grey.
1x Chaos Wolf - Paints a target's Adversary a colour of their choice. Until next power usage, that player will cardflip that colour. Cardflips a colour of their choice, except green.
1x Sabotage Wolf - Replaces the Ally/Adversary of their target to players of their choosing and negates the target's next allegiance PM.
1x Master Wolf - Bulletproof to Vigi. Appears human-aligned to Seer. Cardflips green.
1x Janitor Wolf - Masks the wolves' nightkill, causing the dead player to flip pink instead of their true colour. Cardflips pink.

Format-Specific Wolf Rules:
1a. Wolf kills are not on their target, but on their target's Ally.
1b. Wolf kill power increases as the game plays out. If one wolf dies, wolf kills may target allies or adversaries. If two wolves die, wolf kills target directly.
2. Wolves may only use one PR per night, with the exception of Doublecross. A wolf using a PR may not also make a kill, unless they are the last wolf standing.
3. Most wolf PRs have a one night cooldown. Doublecross can use power every night. Sabotage has a two night cooldown.
4. Wolves must target humans.

Vanilla Human PM:

It is now Day 1. Day 1 will end at 12am server time on Thursday, January 25th, or when majority lynch is reached.

Anyone who did not send in an allegiance PM has had their initial allegiances randomed.

2 scenarios:

a) a wolf is dead

or b) vigi is dead

c) chaos wolf power doesn't work cuz it only targets adversaries, and rule 1a. states wolves kill allies only until a wolf is dead

in both scenario a and b, which are equally possible because this game is a clusterfuck of randomness, we have to assume the next following night killings follow rule 1b

here are my thoughts from last night have fun got shit to do tday

Let's consider the scenarios

a) What if all of the PRs to come out in to the thread, saying 'this is my role __' ?

Anyone who challenges that statement...both are wolves - both players cannot be trusted. But both players cannot be killed anyway, because Rule 1a. states that the target's Ally is going to be killed, not the player itself.

What if all roles come out in the open? Well, possibly all wolves will challenge that; there would be mass confusion on deciding who's who on alliances..

b) What if only one role comes out and asks for everyone with a PR to PM them?

A wolf could challenge that, and say, 'No I'm role ____.' But if that happens, obviously both players are going to be up for voting next phase.

If a wolf does challenge a PR, and there are two ppl claiming a role, the wolf can't kill the player that came out because: Rule 4. Wolves must target humans, and the person that came out would make the wolf an Ally, killing the wolf.

And the Doublecross wolf cannot do anything because the Sabo wolf power cannot be used. The Freeze Wolf power on the real PR still does nothing: The real PR can choose not to use their power that night anyway.

But which person would you trust?

Well, consider the first statement host made: You will know what roles may exist in the game, but not precisely which ones

It would be ridiculous for a wolf to try and fake a role. Because then the 'real' PR would challenge them.

It wouldn't make sense for the real PR to come out then would it? Well, actually, yes it would. Consider another sub-scenario:

You have a PR role, and someone came out in the thread with their PR role. What would convince you to trust the first player that came out? Well, immediately the first statement:
A wolf could not guess what PR roles exist, and can only counter the claim by coming out in the thread. But coming out in the thread paints both targets for lynching the next 2 day phase, BUT night phase kllings are random except for every 2 days when the sabo power is used. killing off the two players that came out in the thread still proceeds to maintain a human victory just based on #s

It wouldn't make sense .....fuck idk going to bed


Janitor Wolf power is useless, it's just a mini-game with Pink Ranger

:

1a. Mafia kills are not on their target, but on their target's Ally.

We can avoid a N0 accidental PR kill.

If all power roles have allegiances outside of the circle of 6, none of the PRs can be targeted for any of the wolf powers.

I've been mulling this over and like the idea of a mass roleclaim. PRs can't be killed directly and if nobody places PR claims as their ally allegiance then they can't be killed except through lynch. Hopefully, we'd see overlap on town roles and narrow wolves down.

Also was going to suggest that everyone announce their ally and adversary every day phase because they get changed every night and resolve that same night, but after thinking it over some more I can't really see how that info helps town..

Also don't have too much time today so I'll be in and out when I can, but yeah thoughts on massclaim?
