An Open Letter Re: Mods

Can we stop deleting or (especially)editing other people's posts, unless there's illegal/banned content (like Xiz posting horse cocks)? I think everyone here's old enough to be able to see negativity or rudeness or whatever words rudeboi1697 can throw at my mother, and if it really is crossing the line just temp ban them without deleting the post... I think deleting posts just makes things awkward and builds tension.

Locking threads is probably fine as a concept but I'm not sure it's been needed as much as it has been, but that's just me.

Maybe it's just me that's noticed some animosity going around here, and maybe I'm tunnel visioned on this because the concept of it bugs me, but I think there should be some kind of mutual communication at least, between mods and non-mods here, and it might help resolve *some* things, or at least cover some ground towards reaching better civility here.

Re: An Open Letter Re: Mods

There are rules. The mutual communication is "Here are the rules for you to follow" and you deciding "I will follow them" or "I will not follow them"

The only lack of civility is the people acting uncivil, and then if that is in violation of the rules, being infracted in accordance with the rules.

I don't think this needs to be a red vs blue scenario though like it's made out to be with posts like this. No kidding it's people acting uncivil that causes a lack of civility, but blankly censoring it instead of actually dealing with it just fosters negativity.

I didn't argue that people are being rude. I didn't argue that people should or shouldn't be banned (I'm not a mod for a reason). I argued against deleting/editing.

That said, if you and the team want ffr to be more dictatorial instead of... well, a community, then I guess my feedback doesnt have much place.

yeah, my post where I said

I Can't Believe This Thread Hasn't Been Locked Yet!

got deleted for some reason
wack

Re: An Open Letter Re: Mods

There was a time where posting any variant of "in before lock" or "this should be locked" or "this will be locked" was a day ban, so I get where you're coming from thinking that -now- we are being more heavy-handed.

Re: An Open Letter Re: Mods

but the thread should have been locked basically almost immediately
mod oversight
instead it was allowed to go on to the point where people are spamming and namecalling and generally getting frustrated

maybe it counts as minimodding idk

the problem is your rules are written like shit, and some of them are fucking stupid, and even when they're *not* broken or there's a better option like I dunno we have a word filter, if it bothers you that much, get it fucking added there you idiot, (if I recall correctly I think I messaged prawn about this) I'm the one who got the n-bomb implemented there in the first place, along with gga. I don't even have / have ever had mod powers.

maybe getting some public input on them before changing them ought to be a must eh?

fucking hell

I too am not a big fan of deleting posts due to derailing or whatever the heck.

Like Travis, I don't even know why he was banned, lol. There are other instances where I was like "why was this guy banned" but ultimately decided to stay silent due to how, err... I guess I was treading along some of the rules?

I assume anyways...

Then again, I thought that thread was okay and love to post on a little slice of the Internet called GameFAQs (specifically SmashFAQs) where shitposting and the like is the norm and mods act only when shady shit is going on (porn, threats, name calling, ect).

I officially announce my bid to run for mod 2019

Re: An Open Letter Re: Mods

I hope Xel isn't banned for this because I like Xel well enough, and i think this is a good example of the kind of thing that can be worked out with mutual understanding... and it kinda also is the purpose of this thread, to let people voice opinions about this topic?

People who have Etterna as their only solution to every problem on FFR mayyyybe should just leave ffr, just a thought you know.
