Flash 11 Officially Released!

EDIT [10/4]: Flash 11 is officially released! Get it here.

STANDALONE LINKS: (thanks Velocity!)
Flash 11 Standalone Win
Flash 11 Standalone Mac
Flash 11 Standalone Linux

============================================================
The Flash 11 release candidate has been out for a little while now, and we all know that Flash 10 has been nothing but a mess of problems for everyone trying to play FFR.

Being that I'm running on Ubuntu 10.04, plugged into my external hard drive (no internal), I had already figured that I wouldn't be playing any FFR on this computer. So, I had installed Flash 10 and took a look at FFR, just out of curiosity. Didn't work very well. I couldn't find a very of Flash 9 that would work with Ubuntu, without using WINE, so I left it alone.

Once I found out that Flash 11 had an RC that came out, I decided to install the plug-in on my computer to see how it ran, and to my (pleasant!) surprise, it's actually running pretty well in-browser.

I actually decided to make this thread because I'm curious to see if it'll run as good for other people as it did for me. I didn't have to uninstall my previous plug-ins:

I'm asking you guys to test this out, for the sake of everyone. Maybe Flash 11 will work well enough to the point of us not needing standalone players anymore.

=======================================
TC_Halogen:
- Ubuntu 10.04/Firefox 6.0.2 - very few spikes (possibly related to poor computer specs); smooth gameplay; slightly lowered FPS overall

Renevatia:
- Windows 7/Firefox 3.6 - no lag spikes; consistently lower FPS, but still reasonably smooth - similar to XP playing

Frank Munoz:
- Windows 7/FF 7 - no crashing (so far), can run flash games in high quality

Zageron:
- Windows 7 / FF 7 -- no lag, but game crashes on Velocity engine

Patashu:
- Windows XP/Chrome -- virtually lag free - works well until songs get above 20 NPS (other games: TS works well, but KBO does not)

krunkykai22:
- Windows 7/FF ?.?.? -- no lag, even with zoomed in flash player

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

Checked here, windows7 firefox 3.6 flash11 candidate no lag spikes, if anything its consistently lowered fps, still very reasonably smooth. Makes it feel like its xp actually.

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

Windows 7, latest version of Firefox; lag seems to be non-existent(when i'm on windows classic theme; still lag when running with W7). No crashing(so far); I can run flash games in high quality now and it's enjoyable to say the least.
I can 't wait for the standalone.

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

Not a bad start. Nice to see others actually getting decent results too.

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

I get no lag on either with Flash11, but I crash every time I accumulate around 10 arrow presses. (Velo engine)

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

That crash would happen to me with Flash 10. Or wait... does Chrome Dev version have 11? I'm not sure. Either way, I get crashes like Zag does.

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

Windows XP, Chrome. On my shitty netbook laptop FFR has always lagged for me (notably thirdstyle isn't so bad and KBO is maybe a little better than FFR), so let's see if we get any improvement...

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/FFR_the_Game.php works great, no lag, except for one problem...it's impossible to get any judgement besides 'boo' and 'missed'! The key input is working fine, it's just not letting me hit the arrows! WTF?
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/~velocity/ has the same problem
http://www.keysmashingisawesome.com/ works fine until it gets above 20 NPS (like friday splittercore mix) then starts lagging like a bitch
http://thirdstyle.com/play is good except for occasional tiny pauses. I think it's a bit better than it was under FP10
The thing that's always lagged the most for me though are FFR replays. I picked the first one I saw (Club) and it was smooth except for a sliiight fps reduction during the constant jumps in the ending. So that's definitely there
Last test, I jump on http://www.keybeatonline.com/play_kbo.php and play protosphere and lunatic gaze...only to discover I can't read the hard parts for shit. The framerate is definitely getting choppy, I think it's so uneven that I can't time things properly or something.

Anyway, there's a definite improvement but not quite enough to rescue the shittiness of my laptop. Worth installing

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

Well, I just downloaded this about an hour ago.

I started to play on all of the engines. Tarriks/Hakulytes/FFR/DF/TS just to see any difference. Before I downloaded this on Thirdstyle's engine didn't lag when I played it. Everything else was just alskdfjlaksjdfklajsfdklasjdfklasjdflk lag alkdjflkasdjfklasdjfklasjfl lag lag lag lag lag... you know.

After I downloaded Flash 11 ... nothing. No lag. ONe thing I wanted to see is if I zoomed the web browser in using the "Hold CTRL button press + to zoom in and - to zoom out" I wanted to see if it would lag at a huge zoom in rate. It didn't, to MY surprise that is. Now I don't have to worry about the friggin standalone bs anymore :) Thank's AJ :D

Updated bottom half of post with more results from you guys. Thanks a lot for testing this out -- seems like the results are continuing to be favorable ones. :D

Re: Flash 11 Release Candidate

Relevant bump (thanks to Velocity!(who got his info from Zageron)):

Flash 11 is out, and is no longer a release candidate. Velocity said that the performance boost was VERY noticeable, and possibly better than Flash 8/9/10. Get it.

OP has been updated to reflect this -- can someone change the thread title and remove the Release Candidate portion? Thanks :)

Re: Flash 11 Officially Released!

I'm definitely noticing a huge improvement. I was playing in browser, but because of low computer specs, I was forced to use a lower resolution.

I downloaded the standalone for Flash 11 and I don't even have to change resolution. This is incredible :D

Sticking with 9. Just tested 11 (on a XP comp low specs) and it runs horribly. A lag spike every 6 (approx.) seconds
