Community Project: Next Generation of FFR Players
Good Afternoon Everyone,
After coming back to FFR, and remembering how much I love this damn game; I would love to see the community grow. I know we've been through our ebbs and flows with an active player base. With that being said, we can work as a whole to get the next generation of new players to discover FFR, and keep the player base growing. Here's the idea, As a community, we actively introduce FFR to as many new faces as possible. We do this by referring the game, posing replays on external sites, upload more videos on YouTube, TikToc, Facebook, etc. In order for this to have an impact, we need to work together as a community. Here are measurable goals + likely avenues to accomplish these goals. Long term goal: -Player base to grow by .2% by January 1st. -Current player base = 2,057,354 members -.2% increase = 2,061,469 (or 4,115 new players). Methods: (Players who pledge to a method will have their name added) -Current Streamers dedicate 3 sessions of streaming a week. (Names go here) -Players with Steaming capabilities dedicate 1 session of streaming a week. (Names go here) -Players active in other rhythm game communities post once a week on independent forums, please adhere to their community rules. (Names go here) -Players active on TikTok dedicate 1 video per week to FFR (Names go here) -FFR Facebook Page Owner. Post monthly or bi-weekly, share player videos + streams, songs of the week, etc. (I don't know who you are) -Revive old players if you are still in contact with them. (Names go here) -General FFR forum + MP activity. Dedicate time to stay social on the official FFR website, this will help new and old players keep a sense of community. (Names go here) All and any feedback is welcome; please share suggestions, criticism, or if this just a blatantly bad idea. Final note: If you would like to pledge to one or multiple tasks please reply to this post. (Bonus note to the staff: Could we possibly make an event out of this? Maybe give some incentive to the players who want to help out with an event token or something?) |

Re: Community Project: Next Generation of FFR Players
Songs of the week posts shouldn't be too hard - I'll coordinate something with Kayla to make those posts to the Facebook (& possibly Twitter, though I don't currently have those credentials I don't think).
If we want to spotlight FFR streamers we'll probably need to see some prior casts from someone before we do so - spotlighting someone who is very new to streaming/playing FFR and/or has questionable content doesn't really help our cause. I think another important aspect of this is encouraging conversations within Discord -- both internally and externally. Whether we old schoolers like it or not Discord is outpacing forums at this stage and most conversations will be taking place there instead of here. I think a pretty solid argument could be made to really focus on more integration between FFR/Discord (Discord webhooks are super easy to set up -- gambling hall via FFR/Discord anyone?), and emphasis on the FFR site of the Discord might not be a bad thing either - it indicates that we as a community are moving forward with the times and trying to progress our game and community rather than just trying to keep some nostalgia from 2010 alive, you know? I do stream periodically but I can't really make a commitment to any certain amount of streams - life is crazy, just bought a first house with my wife and we're so swamped. |

Re: Community Project: Next Generation of FFR Players
Spicy Opinion alert: One thing that people NEVER talk about in FFR history is how at some point, every top SM player that had a presence on FFR just stopped playing
I'm referring to players like - Etienne - Myuka - AnMaO (to an extent) - Staiain/Lily prior to retirement - Minaciousgrace Even though some of these players are retired in general, this resulted in most of the top 100 being FFR diehards that only people in said community know. So I think something needs to be done on this part, find some way of bringing top players back to FFR and I think that the active userbase would go up in someway. What I'm trying to say is that when it comes to the people active on FFR, it's pretty isolated compared to other 4K games Then again I'm just spitballing what I observed from comparing old FFR threads to newer FFR threads so take this with a grain of salt |

Re: Community Project: Next Generation of FFR Players
Generally speaking Stepmania and Osumania players that play FFR typically play FFR for a little bit then hop back to Stepmania or Osumania. It's quite the commitment to play 2 or 3 vsrg engines interchangeably and when you're as good as the top tier players are, the amount of content in FFR for top level play is quite limited compared to what SM and OM have to offer. At top level for FFR it's AAA or restart the top rated songs, and after that there's of course AAA'ing the rest of the engine and that's what FFR primarily has to offer. Whereas SM and OM have new content being added by many users every day, and with different goals to offer such as AA or S challenging content or anti meta content. There's rates for songs, LN/holds, mines, xmod/sv, storyboards, and even more keymodes like 6k and 7k. But just the vast size of content available to SM/OM I think is where the struggle is in keeping top tier players in FFR.
Myuka and Anmao still play OM frequently, Etienne still plays Etterna frequently, Lily prior to retiring vsrg gameplay mainly played Etterna, and MinaciousGrace developed Etterna and only had a passing interest in FFR the game from what I remember |

That's actually a really good explanation of it
