Starting to get into music.

http://soundcloud.com/elmograbme/i-will-wait-harmony Here are a couple of songs I decided to record myself singing. The music tracks in the background are the karaoke versions of the actual songs. I know it's very rough and I goofed on some parts, but I've received mainly positive feedback from my friends at school, and I want to know what my friends at FFR think :) Hope you enjoy it! |
Re: Starting to get into music.
I should really listen to the originals as a comparison and may after posting this initially.
Let's get the obvious beef out of the way. Your recording equipment is probably not stellar resulting in the pops on certain words. This may also play into not capturing your voice as well as you wanted it to. In other words, you may sound better live than on recording. Likewise, sometimes the balance of one voice over the other or your voices over the music is unbalanced and vice versa. Grey area comes in me not having heard the originals. I'll take a look and try to clear this up, but before hand I'm not sure if your falsetto is falling flat or not. Your vocal range is fairly broad, and that is good. You harmonize your lower voice with your falsetto pretty well. As you said, it's rough. I think I mentioned what may have caused that in this post, and that can be overlooked pretty easily. However, the full potential of your voice is limited by your recording equipment, so I imagine you sound better live. Upgrade your hardware and you've got some potential. Vocal range is good, and you can sync the different vocal parts well. Not too shabby. -o24 |

Overall, I appreciate that you've given me constructive criticism on the pieces I've done. I'll be sure to keep new recording equipment on the list for things I'll need to invest in. |
