League of Legends

I could not find another thread of this here so I made a new one.

My referral link:
https://signup.leagueoflegends.com/?ref=4c21a47633763

Q: What is League of Legends?

A: It's a freaking awesome game of 3v3 or 5v5 where you control a champion and bash other people's faces in with magic or lampposts, pushing down towers until you finally infiltrate the enemy base and gloat in their faces.

No seriously though, it's basically DotA or HoN, if you know those two, but this game is completely free to play. If you don't know what those two are, it's basically World of Warcraft meets Starcraft. And if you don't know what those two are, it's basically a game of strategy, but with role-playing game elements, such as leveling up.

In the beginning, you're really playing for the feel of the environment, but once you get more experience, you'll see that it is a very deep strategy game that is constantly being adjusted and updated, keeping you on your toes.

Q: Why can't I just play HoN or DotA?

A: You could, but this game is free, which means it's that much easier to get your friends to play. Graphics, while worse than HoN and DotA in comparison, are still good enough that it won't affect your gameplay. You'll still have the whole experience without being interrupted by bad graphics. But if your concern is that you WANT to spend money, well, that is also an option if you want. There are certain things in the game you can buy with money, but nothing that'll give you an advantage in the game itself.

Q: Hmm, I'm not totally convinced.

A: There are tons of features in this game that you'll never get bored of. Masteries, in-game items, summoner systems, runes, over 60 champions to choose from, 2 maps, tournaments and events, different queues for both casual and competitive gamers, it'll keep itself fresh forever. If anything, just try it. If you don't like it, uninstall it. Not everyone will like it, but since it's free, the only thing you have to lose by trying it is a little bit of your time. And that goes for anything else you try.

Enjoy!

Oh fun, and yeah skype is pretty easy to use, free and has good sound quality.

I main Rammus and Mundo (because he's fun, I don't care that there's better dps, Mundo goes where he pleases) and sometimes easy-mode Kog'Maw.

I don't really play ranked games because I can't be bothered but I do enjoy me some LoL.

I played one match with him, and he basically blasted our elos through the roof. everyone on our team got COMPLETELY ripped, except for chauster who somehow managed to go 1/0/1 or something like that

My only gripe with HoN is the pacing

If I wanted DotA on cocaine, I'd play myself some HoN.
but it ends up not working out too well

This was a reply in another thread. I'd elaborate on the other posts but you'll understand what I'm trying to point out here:

Quote:

Besides the concept of heroes, waves of creep spawns and getting gold, the fundamentals of playing LoL lies primarily in 1) Play in so many games so you can level up to 30, 2) Get the right item for you hero, 3) Don't get hit by the tower and 4) It's a free game but you're going to have to spend money anyway if you want to play any of the fun heroes. It doesn't matter how ****ty you are because you don't lose gold when dying, you don't get extra gold from last hitting towers, and you [b]can't even deny creeps.[b/] You can't creep block, there's no strategic place to put wards, wtf is a town portal, runes don't exist....there's just (not as much, for you crybabies) no skill involved in the game.

If you're a casual gamer and you want to have fun while still being a ****ty player and get the excitement of getting a few kills, sure go ahead and play LoL. If you do play, get to 30, get into a really great killing spree and come back and say you're pro I'm just going to LoL at you.

But if you're into serious and competitive gameplay, get Heroes of Newerth. Yes it's $30, but it's money well spent. You get the same atmosphere as DotA: the heroes are similar (more balanced actually with the new patch), last-hitting and denying are important, not dying is important, calling your miss, etc. Fog of War is more accurate, items and shops are neatly organized (and there's a nifty "Recommended items" area for the new players), and there's constant updates and feedback from the devs on the forums. If you're good, you get praised. If you suck and you're ****ty, you'll be told and flamed with the handy-dandy in-game ventrilo. Come play with me if you want some pr0 skillz. IGN is Litodude.

Lrn2play.

Then it won't be boring and you'll be wishing for 60 minute games because of how awesome they are instead of 25 minute dominations.

@Litodude that must be the most ridiculous description about LoL that I've ever read. Almost everything you said there doesn't make sense because you don't even know the game that well.

1) is true; everybody who plays lol is horrible except for people who have regular teams in ranked 5v5
2), based on how killing your own creeps+losing money when you die = needing to find some way around getting items in dota/hon, is true
3)... yeah pretty much rofl, the idea of a "tank" in lol is basically "champ that can be built to ignore tower damage"
4) however is wrong
you do not need to spend real money on anything in the game except for skins or certain bundles, but usually the skins just introduce some gimmicky theme (hippie zilean! tango evelynn! GENTLEMAN CHO'GATH!) so you can just ignore them, and everything in the bundles (minus the skins) can be purchased using game points
ultimately success in lol is based around how the teams' champions line up, and the strategy is basically "you kill them, don't let them kill you"

Quote:

items and shops are neatly organized (and there's a nifty "Recommended items" area for the new players)
this is exactly the same in lol wtf

anyway, i would love to try dota at some point, just cuz
it'd be hard as **** to remove the lol goggles but i'd try to look at the game as objectively as possible

Just wondering.

When you log into the game at first, you get a window where all of the interface stuff is. This is the client.

After you finish selecting champions, the client places itself into the background of your computer and opens up the actual game, which can be fullscreen or windowed, depending on your settings.

You said you couldn't see your buddy list because the window was too big. The buddy list is accessed from the client, not the game. Resize the client, not the game.

I'm a 26 but play with mid-ELO 30s almost always and games last an average of an hour with my longest game being 95 minutes.

Also, C@!, send me a friend request if you want somebody to teach you how to play. My in-game name is Kibblre.

pretty much, I really miss some of the hero playstyles from DotA that makes it such a balls-deep game

Summoner Name = StiffNipplez (Add me for a few games when I'm around)

Main Heros - Miss Fortune, Master Yi, Jax, Teemo, Ryze, Critplank, Tristana, Garen, Nunu and last, but certainly not least Annie.

Level like, 28 or 29 ? Maybe 30 now, Idk.

Miss Fortune's balls are bigger then mine. Just sayin'.

Btw, it's TC_Chronichild420, damn my memory and it's forgetting of my old password.

that's because people who are new to the game don't know how to push. the average game lasts around 40 minutes if you know what you're doing.

if the teams are really close and the match is really intense, sometimes it'll go to about an hour, but it really isn't realistic for it to go longer than 75 minutes.

and it's not really time consuming, but you do need to set a chunk of time if you want to play a match. the great thing about this game is that it's NOT and mmorpg, which means that you can play it on and off and you'll be fine. there's really no reason to grind if you're worried about it taking up too much time.

Just sayin, had a game last a little under 2 hours yesterday. 114 minutes.

I played Galio, had a Twitch and a Trynd on 3 v 3 map.

Was against Garen, Xin Zhao, and Miss Fortune.

Helluva match, lost by ****ing backdooring MF when we pushed for what we thought was going to be the final push before we won.

Never push when the enemy DPS has a summoner spell teleport. ****. So annoying.

I should have fraps'd the whole thing man, it was ****ing epic.

BTW, got my FFR account back.

SummonerTag - StiffNipplez (29) - Galio/MissFortune/Jax/Evelynn(Since she got un-nerfed from the latest patch , same with Jax ;D) are my favourites, but I play more heroes than just that.

I really don't understand how that kind of game is possible, especially 3v3.

When you have a late game teamfight and someone initiates, chances are someone is going to lose, and during that time one of the teams has over a minute to take down at least one tower or inhibitor. Repeat, flush, rinse, and in about 10 minutes you should be done.

How both teams managed to last that long is completely baffling to me.
