[4-key Pack] hi19hi19's Non-Stepman Music Pack [Submissions Open]

I'm opening this pack up for submissions. The premise of this pack is to encourage people to step new and interesting genres of music that the Stepmania community is not usually exposed to.
With that in mind, song choice for this pack will not be quite as open as you might be used to.

Song choice rules:
-- No restepping a song already in FFR or ThirdStyle. Period.
-- No songs from commercial rhythm games (Beatmania, DDR, Guitarfreaks, Jubeat, etc etc). This includes base Guitar Hero/Rock Band songs (but not DLCs lmao)
-- No songs from BMS of Fighters. Not technically a commercial rhythm game but FFS please branch out from Bemani style music.
-- No songs from ridiculously overstepped artists. Sharpnel, Renard, OSTER Project, Venetian Snares, S.S.H., Dragonforce... you know what I mean here.

Suggestions:
-- Try to stay away from well-known doujin remixes, anime soundtracks, and Asian pop unless the song really brings something new to the table.
-- Please also try to stay away from generic chipmusic/dubstep/video game OSTs/power metal/IDM/breakcore/etc that sounds like what we're all used to hearing but is by some obscure artist. The real goal here is to widen the styles of music that are stepped, not merely the list of artists.
-- If you think there's a chance I might reject it based on the song choice, step something else. Surprise me.

If you think this list is overly restrictive you should probably start listening to more types of music. Broaden your horizons; you will be pleasantly surprised by the variety of sounds you never thought you'd enjoy.

Despite all these rules and suggestions I am not going to be a hyper Nazi about song choice, but I absolutely reserve the right to reject stuff that is pretty clearly too "mainstream Stepman" music. If you're concerned about whether or not the song choice is appropriate, just post a link to the music in this thread or PM it to me and I will reply as soon as I am able.

Stepfile rules:
- No dump charts.
- At least 2 difficulties. Make them different, removing a dozen arrows from the heavy chart and calling standard doesn't count.

That's really it. I will be pretty lenient with files so long as they're on sync and not blatantly terrible.

Other important stuff:
This pack is going to be open for at least two months or so, or until we get 35 accepted submissions. I'll give plenty of advance notice on when I plan to close the submissions.
For submissions please PM me a link to the file, use mediafire to upload.

Not allowed unless they are re-charted.
And by virtue of the fact it's already been stepped (by you) means it's already more "Stepman music" than otherwise so I'll probably judge such a file a little more strictly.

If you have questions I'd prefer you send me an FFR PM. I can also be contacted on AIM (TheBeegFeesh) or Skype (beegfeesh19) but I am not on 24/7 so it's honestly faster to send me a PM.

File difficulty will be rated according to NPS, for lack of a better system.

Judging:
Song choice judging is by me.
File judging is by me with additional notes from dAnceguy117

I'll reiterate, judging will be pretty lenient and supportive. The primary purpose of judging in a pack like this is not to shut down files entirely, but rather provide notes so that you can further improve the chart before it goes in the pack.

I was gonna sub a chart to a different pack, but I think it'd find a better home here to be honest.

Very much looking forward to this pack

There's plenty of cool Korean songs that would qualify for this pack that don't have more Youtube views than the populations of France, Spain and England combined.

Bouncing some suggestions around would be a great idea! Might wanna do it via PM or some such, just to preserve some wOw factor. :)

I look forward to trying out everyone's submissions!

This gives me an excuse to step some of the songs I hear on the radio all the time, or that jazz group that I always used to listen to.

If you've heard of a group called Spyro Gyra then I'm pretty much thinking of that group.

Oh man, my dad used to listen to Spyro Gyra all the time while working in his workshop... he swore by smooth jazz for woodworking.
He used to call them Spyro Gyro too lmao

/nostalgia

I'm stepping some jazz myself for this pack, Giant Steps by John Coltrane. Classic bebop, rather the opposite end of the jazz spectrum from Spyro Gyra.

Re: [4-key Pack] hi19hi19's Non-Stepman Music Pack [Submissions Open]

Will there be any exceptions for the number of stepcharts we must use if the song is very long? I do remember GD giving some exceptions to long songs on his FFR Community Packs; in those cases, said steppers stepped only one chart. Just curious as to what you think about that.

(the song I'm thinking of stepping is exactly 5 minutes and it probably isn't going to be one bpm and go; syncing's probably going to be difficult)
