Despite the Middie hate, I actually agree with him. If your proposal is a gimmick, just get divorced now.

Edit: Just watched the video. Confirmed, this is amusing, but stupid. gg.

I fail to see how the proposal affects the end of the marriage.

Woah bro. I dislike "furry" as much as the next guy, but there's no reason for that comment.

When did you start acting like this? Because that was uncalled for and unjustified man.

Got offended at a different uncalled for comment, made his own in an attempt to offend the other person.

And Mid, you should probably not attack fetishes like that and attempt to correlate it to desperation with a person. It doesn't work. Some people find bondage repulsive, does that make the people who enjoy being bound and dominated desperate for the affection of another person? Even if you think yes, most couples who actually care for one another will move past things like that and sometimes even attempt to embrace it. The ones that are too surface to handle something as simple as a fetish that isn't even remotely abusive to anything probably won't even make it as far as a proposal. And for the record, proposals should be cool shit. If it's original and the couple enjoys it, who's to say it's too gimmicky to be good? I mean shit, someone used FFR to propose recently, you going to say that's gimmicky and shouldn't last?

On topic, not really my cup o tea, but good on him for coordinating that.

"Affects" isn't the right word. The proposal is a symptom. But it's one of those complicated symptoms where you can't single out anything really wrong. Each part of it is only a little bit bad, but in a way that adds up to create something so insufferably banal that telling me it comes from the same place as real commitment would require a full-scale suspension of disbelief.

The disease is the kind of narcissism and desire for envy that makes people feel like proposing requires a GAP dance crew, indie soundtrack, internet audience, and the shakiest camerawork I've ever had the misfortune of seeing.

If that explanation sounded like bullshit, it's probably because the feeling is more intuitive than logical. When I watch this video, my reaction is less "awwwww" and more "get this feel-good, made-for-youtube trash out of my face." And I don't imagine the line between those is thin.
