.SM file is empty

Original Problem:

I tried sending a simfile to someone but he noticed that my .sm file was 0kb but ran perfectly on my computer. Songs were being loaded//saved to somewhere other than where I was looking for them.

My problem in more detail, mouse over. TL;DR
Basically just that.

With more detail, I sent my friend a copy of a file of mine and for some reason it wouldn't recognize the file on my friend's computer. turns out my .SM file was 0kb.

I'm guessing it's reading my file in Stepmania from somewhere I don't know because it works just fine on my laptop, yet when I go into the song folder to look at the file it still says the .SM is 0kb.

Anyone know what exactly is going on?

Also, I'm assuming this is related to the problem but I also have songs that I can play on SM that I've actually deleted from the songs folder. Kind of why I assumed the file is being read from somewhere else.

Solution:

Songs were being saved to this directory

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Stepmania\Songs

Where UserName is the user name of the account you're on.

Re: Requesting Help Finding .SM File

do you use windows vista/w7?

where do you have stepmania installed?

is the problem on just this one file or does it occur for all your files?

are you an admin on your laptop?

Re: Requesting Help Finding .SM File

Yes

Installed in the default folder SM goes with so program files folder.

The problem is only with songs in the My Creations folder, and the files I checked are ones that I've already began editing in SM so they should have some kind of byte size to them.

And after looking, nope. Not admin like I thought I was.

+----

Still looks like nothing even while in Admin.

Re: Requesting Help Finding .SM File

Found out where they were. Someone should sticky this in case anyone ever has a problem with 0kb dwi//.sm files.

It was located in

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Stepmania\Songs.

Thanks a bunch WC.
