Halo: Master Chief Collection [PC]

Quote:

For the first time ever, The Master Chief’s story comes to PC. Featuring Halo: Reach along with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, the Halo 3: ODST Campaign and Halo 4, this is the definitive Halo experience.

Honoring the iconic hero and his epic journey, The Master Chief’s story is brought together with a total of 67 campaign missions plus more than 120 multiplayer maps (including the original Halo Combat Evolved maps) and Spartan Ops maps. Now built for PC with mouse and keyboard support and up to 4K UHD and HDR, this is the collection Halo fans have been waiting for!
When I found out the news last night, I was super stoked. Never got back into Halo seriously after Halo 4 and beyond due to the series going into a spiral nose-dive. Then I never got an Xbox One, and the MCC back then was plagued with release issues for a very long time.

I feel like this is a make or break time for the Halo franchise. If they screw up this PC release, then the franchise is actually just dead forever.

Either way, I'm stoked about it in all honesty. Finally, I'll be able to actually relive the days of the Halo days. It'll probably be more tight-knit now since I don't see the game getting many players as it did back in its prime, but it's nice the games will finally be in all one package so the communities that are spread about can actually get back together and do good modding shit.

Anyways, making a thread here in case anyone else is interested.

TBH I'm a little shocked they're doing this considering it removes a selling point from their "console."

Also i remember playing Halo 3 like, three times ever and taking out a scarab on legendary faster than my brother who'd asked for my help to just get through the mission. It was the mission with two of them at once?

I think it was halo 3, don't quote me on it. If it's not a full 60 dollar release I might pick it up for the hell of it.

I don't see this being any less than $60 to be honest.

Though they might surprise us. From the sounds of it, you'll have the ability to purchase A game out of the six. So only want to play Halo 3? Go for it, pay the $5-$10 and you're set. I think that's how they want this to work and I'm all for it.

Just hope there's actually a "buy everything" option. I would most likely do that since, OOO BOY, I do love me some Halo and playing them on modernized, retouched engines would just tickle my fancy.

From what I recall when it came out, it was certainly the best way to play the games, and as someone who has barely touched anything other than 3, I'm a little interested in playing it. I'm not interested in spending money on an overpriced netflix machine.

Modern gaming is absolute dog shit atm, so I've been revisiting older games I've skipped, only played once, and I've been really enjoying it. It'd be really nice to be able to experience this as well.

But seeing as the game has been out for a long while, charging the full amount seems, honestly inappropriate, on par with Nintendo charging for their internet service at all to me.

Never played past Halo 2 because Halo 3 was exclusive to xbox 360, which had you pay for online, which I am heavily against, so I never bought the console.

Will most likely definitely pick this up, just for the fact that I've never played Halo 3 onward

I wish I could link a reddit post, because someone from 343 put that to ease by saying getting a gold account is not required.

What is required though is just to make a Xbox Live Account, which is completely free and shouldn't cost you a penny.

EDIT: Found it

I don't think they are planning to stay in the console business anyway.

You don't put Xbox Live on PC and Nintendo Switch when you think you can sale the world an Xbox TWO SEVEN TWENTY or whatever.

It's very clear that Microsoft is trying to get solid numbers for what to do with their franchises for when they bow out.

It is free but I don't need my games to not work if when the service goes down.

That's why we got people who have already put a lot of effort in modding Halo CE, Halo 2 Vista, and Halo Online (ElDewrito), around so they can probably take Xbox Live stuff out if you really want it out and probably do their own thing like Project Cartographer did.

If anything, I think all these games coming to PC means Halo will get modded to be something beautiful long after this release runs its course. I dig it.

This is probably true

I just think it shouldn't be an issue in the first place.

I really hope the online is finally fixed when it comes out on Steam, but since they STILL can't fix it after 5 whole years I'm not putting my hopes on it.

Still I'll get it so I can try to enjoy my time with Halo 2 online again. Those were extremely great years for me (Halo 3 was fun too but didn't spend as much time as Halo 2)

Re: Halo: Master Chief Collection [PC]

I don't know if I could go back honestly, although I am 100% sure that I didn't play it as much as you and therefore have little nostalgia for it.

I could be talked into getting it if the online works well and FFR decided that goofing in mutiplayer was something we all wanted to do on the regular. That said, I feel like I would just enjoy Overwatch more.

Good to see you again btw Gpop. Hope life's been well to ya

I was literally reminiscing about halo 1 and 2 about a month ago. I'm excited.

I am super excited. I never got a console (other than handhelds) growing up and only got to play Halo: Combat Evolved on PC when it came out and the other ones when I was at a friend's house or my uncle's house.

YES! This is going to be amazing! >: D
