Hey guys i't me again
 

Haven't visited this place in a really long time, came back to see a new standalone engine (sweet!), a fuckton of new songs, a good number of them visibly offsync but who cares.

I haven't touched stepmania in forever, until i met a local player, name's Nixo, who's now the best italian keyboard player and it blew my mind how far the skill ceiling has gotten. So by watching this crazy dude play some 30's on etterna i felt the desire to play a bit again.

Although i stopped playing keyboard stepmania for years i haven't stopped playing rhythm games as I now have my own ITG cabinet, play ITG regularly at home or at the arcade and have organized over 10 community tournaments in my region, the latest featuring over 30 participants <3

I'm even making my own ITG pack, which will feature around 40 fully charted sims :o

Is it going to include Flaming June? Please let it include Flaming June. I would play the shit out of the old one if I still had it and if its gonna be fully charted... hhnnggggg

Depends on how far back we go!

Mina basically single handedly created Etterna and a difficulty calculator specifically for keyboard players. Its made a lot of players far more driven to get better which is why the skill ceiling has risen. He also has a couple people running a leaderboard, which records stats off of the profile you make in Etterna and uses meta data from files in packs to compare scores from one person to the next, to ensure people are playing the exact same song.

Also, since being featured by Staiain and Ettiene at AGDQ, the popularity among other rhythm gamers jumped a bit. There was an influx of brand new players and people from other games like OSU! showing up and trying to get in on the action. The influx has since dwindled but there are still a few stragglers who play.

Shuey showed up and had something like 50GB of files/packs from yesteryear that foxfire was able to upload to the SMO website. Hundreds of packs of files from people that have been gone a LONG time. You can check out the thread here

Solo hasn't OFFICIALLY died. Which is good because I'm actually starting to get into it now. Kommi is working on Solo 5 and there have been a couple of excellent release in the past by Kinx and Gundam-Dude

And as for packs, a few noteworthy ones have come out:

- MacGravel finished and released VGMP4
- Icy continues to work on NBJS packs
- Kommisar did up another Xoon pack
- I did a couple Stepping Stones packs
- Ferrari and dashoe attempted a couple of "revival" packs that I think turned out good

Gundam-Dude has an excellent thread that lists all of the major releases here and the Stepmania Online Downloads page has basically every single release ever.
