Isn't it time we said goodbye to the non tool-assisted files?
I'm talking about those blue note ones that have notes constantly off-key, non-jumps, etc.
With the efforts to modernize the game, the game stil has a bunch of those old, inaccurate files that I simply don't want to do because of how they are, but still bring down my rank/average in-game. I am sure that I am not the only one who feels like, especially considering today's standards with adding new files, they simply should be removed from the game entirely. By the way, love the standalone Air version, smooth as butter. |

Back in my day, that's all we had to play and it was good times. They're still around to show you youngins how we had it, where we came from. They'll always be here.

They were banished to the Legacy genre, but with this new fangled difficulty sorting, they're starting to show up in new players' day-to-day again. I definitely agree that it probably hurts the game more than helps it when a player runs into something like Until The End.

Re: Isn't it time we said goodbye to the non tool-assisted files?
We've already removed certain very stupid files from public ranking (e.g. Crowdpleaser v1). I'm surprised old legacy files haven't gotten an exclusive leaderboard yet, and maybe tucked a little more away so newbies don't stumble upon the garbage and think that's how FFR files typically operate.
I can see why they are still in game, but treating a lot of these very poorly synced songs like every other file is king of bleh. This is coming from someone who did bother to basically AAA every single one of them too. |
Re: Isn't it time we said goodbye to the non tool-assisted files?
I don't think legacy files need to be taken out of the game, but puttimg something in the titles or something to help signal to people who are sortinf by difficulty that they are legacy.

If I had to AAA all the blue butt fuck off sync garbage, you have to too.

I came into this thread expecting someone advocating for files that can only be completed with TAS tools

Re: Isn't it time we said goodbye to the non tool-assisted files?
I agree. I'll be looking into ways to filter the Legacy genre from the main song selection.

Edit the blue note songs so half the notes are randomly red, and half blue
They'll never know... |
Re: Isn't it time we said goodbye to the non tool-assisted files?
Taking them out of the public levelranks and putting them into the token or maybe even their own levelranks is way past due. I've seen so many threads suggesting this over the years and the only argument I've seen against doing it is:

Respect your elders punks

Re: Isn't it time we said goodbye to the non tool-assisted files?
For god sakes, fix them and reskin them and make them proper songs like everything else.
Keeping old junk because we want to be proud of how the game used to be shittier is just dumb and stupid. |

it's a part of our heritage
