Ok guys I need a little help
 

OK There was this girl that I like but I have a small problem, my mother doesn't believe in the entire interracial junk.

I'm white,
She's Half-black/Half-white

My mother (being back in the day) was raised to treat, and yes, it may seem racist, but not go out with people of African decent.

Now I told her that I had really liked her and that she had really liked me, we have only been dating for about two weeks.

She's amazing, and personally, I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world.
But because my mom doesn't believe in the IR relationships, I have restricted rights.

She can't come over, I hardly see her, and when I do it's at school, and PDA is very overwhelming.

I wish I could spend more time, but it seems like I can't.
How could I somehow tell my mom that I wanted to go to her house?
I mean, it's fine with her parents, but my mother does not totally agree.

[Yes I had taken in affect that it was "my moms" house and that she has a right to choose who she wants, but it doesn't seem right for that reason. AKA Affirmative action crap]

My father is out of this, he says I am free to date whoever I want but he... is in Iraq so I really can't do anything.

Anyway, doesn't look like there's much you can do. You could try telling your mom that it's your right to date whoever you want, and she really has no place restricting your rights because she's of a different race, but beyond that, you're kind of stuck.

You could try having your mother talk to her parents, but from what you've said, I don't know if she'll agree.

Yeah, the girls mother is white, so maybe she'll reason..
Whittling sounds long and boring, but I've done it before.

The only logical thing to do is lie to your mom. Tell her you're going to a friend's house to study or something. Then have a friend back you up on it.

Have your mother meet her at a school basketball game, etc, and if your girlfriend is nice, she may change her mind.

id probably lie to my mom and just tell her im going to a friends house. call the friend and tell him if my mom calls, cover for me

then just hang out with the girl


Or just tell your mom your going out for a walk, and meet her somewhere
walks with girls you like are fun =]

I don't believe a parent has the right to decide who their child can date unless the person is in some way a physical or psychological danger to their child. Your mother has a right to her opinions, but this is also your life. Don't bring the girl home if it is going to cause issues, but otherwise I can't imagine how she can keep you from seeing your girlfriend....unless she locks you in your room.

It's important to have approval from a parent in regards to who you are dating, but when that approval is based on a person's race then I think it is completely irrelevant.

I really appreciate it guys, I am entitled to my own life, this girl is really special to me in every way and I'm hoping to see her sometime this week, away from school.

Seriously though, your mom shouldn't base who you date on skin color.
My parents wouldn't care if I date someone black or Asian or any skin color or race for that matter.
Just do your own thing.

So, I've been off and on the site for a long time. I looked at my post history and kinda see how deranged and stuff I was growing up, I was extremely unstable and my family was really hard on me and I had the worldview of a shrimp. I just wanna say sorry to all the people I annoyed and hurt in the past (even they even exist here still lol)

I was going through my old posts to see if I could delete them because I was ashamed, and I found this and wanted to give an update!!!

Me and this girl are married now! I'm kinda estranged from my family for sticking with her hardcore, I didn't even invite my mom to my wedding because although I was ultra conservative (due to my parents literally brainwashing me and stuff, you can see it in my early posts), I am now the furthest left person in my family.

I was in... 9th grade when I originally posted it I think, and we've been together since! Made it through college (even went to separate colleges) and eventually moved in together and last year we got married (we were living together for years to make sure it could work and kinda forgot X'D).

I'm now 29, turning 30 soon-

A lot has changed, my own identity, my family, this site, I'm just glad there's something to come back to when I want to pound some arrows and if I get banned for resurrecting a thread I wanna go ahead and apologize in advance! Just let me log in and play please :) Just wanted to let the people in the thread know that they were absolutely right. She was the best possible person for me on this planet and soulmate!

Thread may be closed for some serious necroposting, but I think this update is a fantastic one to see! It's cool to see that you stuck to your guns with the one you love, and you're making a new family that is unlike the one you grew up in.

Plus, over 14 years that you've stuck together is a sort of commitment that deserves respect from the old buds of yours that may still be around here.
