he's mostly traitor.

whistleblowers are pointing out laws being broken and dont need to run.

snowden is putting his personal morality in front of the law.

Or, perhaps he was aware that his ability to sensationalize the news he appears to be so passionate about regarding a subject as sensitive as abuse of governmental scrutiny amongst its own citizens, requires a countries asylum due to the united states tendencies to potentially crucify someone trying to inform the people of the various forms of transparency that occur.

if he only reveals things that are against the law, he has nothing to worry about.

it's when he decides to leak things that are within the scope of the law because it goes against his own personal morality that he is crossing the line.

Seems weird that government secrets that use tax payer money aren't against the law no matter what it is.
