Feedback/Questions

If you have any feedback or questions about the new forum or system, please leave them here.

Or if you just notice any mistakes I may have made, I worked for a pretty extended period straight so it's likely I have a few mishaps here or there.

I assume the new result threads are gonna be how batch notes are distributed?

If so, finally. I love this idea.

Re: Feedback/Questions

yeah I mean the community will be posting them in the active set threads but the final results and judge notes will go into the results thread. (Not sure if all the comments from community will be collected and set in there though, something to think about )

Re: Feedback/Questions

Just to make things clear, there's no sort of form to follow on this, right? We can be as forthcoming with details, (and if chance may happen) be as messy/all over the place with details as we want?

I ask this because usually most official posts regarding reviewer/lead comments on batch files are usually well structured, at least most are. With a situation as this, where there is community input, some people may have a tendency to be not as clean/neat with their input on files.

Just wanna get that confirmation that there isn't any sort of structure being followed here that people will need/want to use if they're submitting notes.

Re: Feedback/Questions

since they're community notes, i'm imagining as long as the feedback is constructive in nature

Yeah, I kind of just free formed it when I tackled the first five, haha.

I think the gifs helped, I hope.

Re: Feedback/Questions

another thing I'd like to address:

I like where you're going with this kind of stuff, but it's broken. Trying to analyze Ant IDM right now, and you're missing about 4/5ths of the song. Got confused at first because I was thinking 'where in the hell is that really long 32nd area that I want to talk about & take a screenshot of? What, there's only like 200 notes here what'.

I presume it has something to do with how it processes speed-ups, slowdowns, and just bpm changes in general.

edit: just looked at the link for year of the bad dragon. Yap I think it's broken. That's all that is shown.

I was gonna point this out as well, but i'm still doing some reviewing.
Ant idm ends on m22 for me
not sure why it is doing this,
atleast we have an isolation option on r3 to use till this is resolved.

Re: Feedback/Questions

Yeah, but it's difficult to write out the measure notation so stepartists can pinpoint exactly where they are talking about in the file. With isolation, it's down to the note where it happens, and I don't know about you, but I certainly can't tell how many notes into my file where there is an issue, I do it all by measure notation or timing (which is non-existant on that linked stuff).

in a nutshell, community can now offer opinion on unreleased FFR files. Active sets subforum is where you can submit notes/opinions on files, and there's a sticky in there to just create general guidelines (like no bashing the stepartist, no one-liners etc. that kind of stuff) as well as help on how to play said files.

Besides that, just some reorganization of forums. At least that's what I'm getting from it if I'm not mistaken

Yeah there's no real set structure. Just try to be as clear as you can so the stepper knows what you're talking about.

Crap -_- I will try to figure out why they are breaking asap. Thank you for bringing it to my attention right away. We're actually probably going to try to tweak this since the php is available and stuff. When you first run the .sm through you're actually able to select the sm noteskin and more distance between notes but for some reason can't save it that way. So I want to see if we can tweak it so the file images will have a more familiar look. But I can't make any promises yet.

Of course, just like with people leaving feedback though just don't be rude if you don't like something they said kind of deal.

Re: Feedback/Questions

So looks like I figured out the broken image issue, just give me a bit to adjust all the broken ones.

(Guessing it has to do with ddream, because basically I just have to open the files in sm, save them and then they work fine.)

Basically some of the .sm files had the measure numbers listed and some didn't. All the ones that didn't have them were breaking. All should be fixed now, let me know if I missed any.

Re: Feedback/Questions

So are we gradually moving to the point where users can submit files directly to the Batch Engine where playtesters can give a pass/reject rating with a tweet-sized comment section embedded in the engine itself? :3 Would coincide with the song rating system that should be implemented into normal FFR, right?

That would be awesome, but of course something to consider for the distant future.

Xiz 01-29-2016 04:13 PM

Re: Feedback/Questions

Imo individuals should have inflation implemented, so Rushy's 7 might be considered a 7.5 and GoldStingers 7 might be a 6.9 (hehehh)

Charu 01-29-2016 04:16 PM

Re: Feedback/Questions

...I just realized I didn't even give a rating.

Hmm

Re: Feedback/Questions

I noticed the stepchart images and how in some sections shows a decent gap between notes; does it mean that the images themselves are shown in a fixed BPM scale (green numbers I assume are the assigned BPM for that section)? I can see the gaps being where a fast BPM section is that would lengthen the gap of notes but maybe an explanation would help me understand it :p

gameboy42690 01-29-2016 07:50 PM

Re: Feedback/Questions

Basically you're viewing the chart just as you'd see it if you were viewing the chart in the SM editor (minus the ability to see was second interval you're at). Green numbers are the assigned BPM for that section, just like how you'd have numbers to the side of the chart as you'd view it in SM.
