R^3 Air 1.0.0 ALPHA Test
Hi, everyone. We’re looking for players to help test an Alpha build for a major upcoming R^3 Air Edition release. This is a drastic performance update. From our internal testing on 200 FPS, fluctuating frame rate between 112-200 is now a steady 198-202.
Byron Edition bricked as of 0.0.8 update Download R^3 Air 1.0.0 ALPHA Test Note: If you have NVIDIA video drivers installed, make sure to right‐click your desktop, then click “NVIDIA Control Panel” from the context menu, and set “Vertical sync” to Fast or Off. Here is a complete list of changes. There is no guarantee of updatability. This Alpha build will likely break next patch. • Upgraded compiler to ASC 2.0. Overhead is 400% less than the old compiler. • Upgraded AIR SDK from 26 to 29. • Force disabled VSync. For the first time, framerate will run independent of monitor refresh rate. So try setting your Framerate to 120 or 240 if you usually play on 55-60 FPS. Input will still come in every one of those frames. • 64-bit client will be introduced at final release. • Songs now play as bytestreams instead of SWFs. • Upgraded Greensock animation/tween/fading software. • Always prefers discrete GPUs over integrated GPU. • Dropped legacy com.adobe package. • Dropped Adobe Flex, Flash-only SDK. • Results graph state is saved. • Byron invited to the party. Flash in-browser: 7/10 — Runs rather well. No screen tearing, and very rare/intermittent micro-spikes that do nothing to impact gameplay. I'm able to play this at any frame rate above 60 without any sort of noticeable impact. Sizer does not work in my case because it is in browser and I play with a full window for the browser, no zoom or anything. Occasionally, I get a tiny spike that causes the song/chart to desynchronize, causing me to get huge amounts of perfect judgments as opposed to amazing judgments, and continued judgments will push normal-timed taps further away from the center. Flash standalone: 4/10 — Noticeable performance degradation, at just about any frame-rate. Lag is barely tolerable and really tough to deal with on a visual level, but the game seems to process input well enough to at least get AAAs on harder content. Air Edition 0.0.7: 9/10 — Runs flawlessly with regards to visual at any framerate above 60. However, framerates above 60 FPS are substantially more prone to input splitting (can be very easily proven in R^3’s editor mode). Very rarely, I get those tiny microspikes that cause input to desynchronize that I mentioned with Flash in-browser, but they seem to have much smaller of an impact and many times I can get through songs from start to finish without suffering any good judgments. Air Edition 1.0.0 ALPHA: 3/10 — Unfortunately, this plays even worse than the standalone for me. The choppiness is substantially worse, and input seems to be slightly delayed. Spikes are occasionally large enough to cause note inputs to be processed past their intended time. Even 30 FPS mode has spikes for me that make the visual irregular and impossible to contend with. also getting virus warnings

Re: R^3 Air 1.0.0 ALPHA Test
damn the FPS is only capped at 250 |
Re: R^3 Air 1.0.0 ALPHA Test
Not sure if anyone is having this issue as well: I initially thought this was a by-product of having a very high frame-rate, but I set the FPS to 60 and noticed that my judgments weren't showing up for every note (and no, I don't have amazings or perfects disabled).

Re: R^3 Air 1.0.0 ALPHA Test
Some judgements aren't appearing on my screen in the new engine - even when AAAing. It's not marvelouses either because the ratio is off for how many Im getting versus how many judgements are not popping up. (I play with Marv judgements hidden)

Re: R^3 Air 1.0.0 ALPHA Test
I had the same issue as AJ but was too busy to say anything. Its running way worse than the current AIR for me. Dont think its on my end since i have a router thats for 30 computers at once and pretty expensive although AIR has been choppy for me for at least 2 weeks. Prior to this it was flawless for me and RARELY did i see lag.
I use windows 7, if that matters. But it shouldnt because before AIR was flawless for me. |
