Won a Pokemon tournament today. Got a gift for participating in it too!
Note to self: nobody knows about EV training. I wrecked everyone, and most were running legendaries. I didn't use mega evolve once BBCode (message boards & forums) |
Re: Post Your Picture VII - The Continuation (Read Page 1)
I don't know shit about Pokemon but what is EV training
|
Re: Post Your Picture VII - The Continuation (Read Page 1)
EV training boosts stats on you pokemon. Competitively, you usually have 252/252/4.
It makes a tiny difference, but is very noticeable. An Umbreon with no EV training at 50 has 164 health. Lurker bred me a perfect one with IV's (another story), and at the same level it sits at 202 health Basically it's like gemming in WoW. It's better to stack it all in two stats than spread it out in all of them. I'll never forget the look of awe when my azumarill one shotted 4 dragon Legendaries. |

New page repost Just for reference, we were forced to draw straws and get random people for the final 4, 2v2. I got the girl, and I basically had to play the game for her. She didn't even mega evolve her Gardevoir. On top of that, it couldn't moonblast a dragon in 1 hit in mega form. I carried her so hard Also, I was a little disturbed that everyone except me was running 4 attack moves, most of them with at least 2 of the same type. Edit Here's the final battle, if you want to see just how bad the competition was C9RW-WWWW-WWW7-XLBU |

incidentally, IVs/EVs are bullshit and I hate that Nintendo is officially supporting people who exploit them |

Nintendo supports it because it's a major time sink for post game pokemon

Re: Post Your Picture VII - The Continuation (Read Page 1)
Yeah, I guess. I just wish there was a more understandable way of training stats outside of leveling that made more sense. When I played Gen 1, I originally thought the only thing to do was those vitamins, and I was OK with that. Then I learned about the "box trick", where you can train EVs of level 100 Pokemon. I mean, I didn't understand EVs at all at the time, but I knew I could raise my mons' stats that way even though it made NO SENSE AT ALL.
I think I heard there are some minigames or something for training EVs in X/Y though. I guess that's actually an improvement. Definitely makes more sense than weirdly boxing Pokemon to get their stats to go up. |
Re: Post Your Picture VII - The Continuation (Read Page 1)
Yeah, special training is a godsend. Full EV training takes about 60-90 minutes to do from scratch.
