Re: FFRMania Engine: 1500+ songs and counting!

NEWS:

1/23/14
FFRMania is technically available for play again, but a few hundred levels have been lost (mostly conversions from Tarrik himself). 1,239 levels were restored however, and we will go through and find out what exactly is currently unplayable shortly.

Essentially FFRMania was obliterated by Tarrik (he deleted everything on the FFRMania FTP, and also marked the old ZXQ site for deletion). Currently we have no idea why he did it, nor is it important, as we've removed him from all aspects of the project entirely. So for the short time being, FFRMania is not accessible, because there is literally nothing to access.

Soon we will be able to restore a large portion of the engine and it's contents, due to having some backups from the migration from zxq to FFRMania.com. There is a good chance though that not every level has a backup, and those that do not will have to be reconverted (which will take a little time). I have an extremely recent copy of the xmlfeedbacktest, so it should go by faster as levels would already be named and have details filled out. It may seem strange that we do not have an official up to date archive, but it should be noted that we are using paid hosting, and didn't have to worry about things like loss of data or anything like that. We also didn't exactly expect that anyone on the team would just flat out delete all of the contents within the engine (including the hundreds of levels they converted themselves). Needless to say, an up to date archive will be saved locally from now on, regardless of the fact it is less likely for data to be lost now that Tarrik has left. Further, due to Tarrik's discharge, there will be no more arbitrary downtime for the server caused by some form of emotional reaction in the future (or threats of said downtime).

Hopefully we can get at least a portion of the engine playable by the end of today, and repair more and more of the missing content throughout the remainder of the week. Once all repairs are complete, we will resume requests and converting levels normally. When we find out which files are not within our backup, they will be listed, and obviously we'll post about it when said levels are reconverted.

The FFRMania Song List Spreadsheet has just received its first major overhaul.

Two scripts now append newly converted songs to the spreadsheet, and translate all changes on the spreadsheet to the t-xmlfeedbacktest.php
This means adding missing stepartist and song author information will be considerably easier, and will result in 100% less migraine headaches. :D

Currently Displayed Columns:
  1. Level ID
  2. Song Name
  3. Song Artist(s)
  4. Simfile Author(s)
  5. Pack Name
  6. Genre #
  7. Difficulty
  8. Length
  9. Style

I highly recommend that only Volume 1 and 2 (and perhaps 3 at most) make it into this engine. The other volumes have files that are either already from another major pack (Volumes 4-9 basically) or are absolute garbage charts like vibro trill files that have rarely been played (10-12).

I personally would only select choice files from any packs after volume 3 and add in the rest of the midare packs (4 and 5). Also a Cetaka Original Pack and his "ceteka presents" packs.

I'll make a request for the cetaka charts :)

Now we get to deal with the duplicate chart issue :p

Re: FFRMania Engine: 1500+ songs and counting!

I'll take that into consideration Dynam0. HSMP 1 will be on the engine within a few hours.

I'm just slightly busy right this moment.

in the future, we'll have some pad packs too. We currently have blanket permission for mad matt simfiles.

I'll just make and upload a pack of all of the (good) files that people commonly play in HSMP 3-12, give me some time.

That would be a godsend dude. MUCH appreciated if you find time to do that, whenever.

Just a question, since people are requesting pad packs, the files that have audio files encased in .ogg, is your converter capable of converting .ogg audio files?

It should be able to, I think Charu converted Neutron Factory and Let Them Move (which have .oggs) just fine

EDIT: The pack has 61 files, a little over the size of a HSMP. There are a couple of files that people commonly play that I didn't include them because either a) there's already one version of it in another pack that's included or b) it's vibrating and vibrating on FFR probably isn't fun to begin with
