So in an attempt at improving
I've been playing for several years but only recently I decided I want to get good at this game.
I always used two hand arrow keys 1.50x and could do just about any song with a decent amount of mashing [60/40 perfect/goods] [12-80 misses depending on song] and a TON of BOOOOO's. So to improve I switched to regular speed half screen and to, LEFT - D Middle UP - F Index DOWN - J Index RIGHT - K Middle I'm finding challenging/difficult challenges exactly what they say, my days of stereotype average player mashing are over and I have to work my way up again, so am I headed in the right direction? I know practice, practice, practice. And that can be especially true with a game like this more then any other. But any other advice. Where is that guide posted that lists all types of arrow patterns? |
Re: So in an attempt at improving
Hopefully you can get over them mashing days and get some skill in there. Mashing gets you nowhere. lol. Good luck with your new style. Here is that guide with the patterns

Thanks that guide is great.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
Surprising how much I learn if I'm not playing stoned for a couple games then alt+F4 lol.
- I used to hit arrows at the exact moment I thought was gonna score "perfect" but instead got more goods out of it, if you wait like 0.2 seconds more you'll get more perfects because when the arrow goes behind the line it has a higher chance of perfect. - Also learned to not take my fingers off the keys AT ALL. It's a little weird to get used to but I can do complicated double note switches easier. I used glue (not super glue) and replaced my keys with older then glued my fingers to the keys to learn this better, rofl! but I wanna get good so whatever it takes. Also looks like I need a more sensitive keyboard with keys that don't take a century to click down. So I guess this game has a use for a gaming keyboard. |

Re: So in an attempt at improving
Can you at least tell me why? I do considerably worse playing that way but I think it'll help in the long run. I do play the piano so I know how crucial those milliseconds can be.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
aidfaweg too lazy to explain the theory behind it but practicing without taking your fingers off the keys will help train your muscle memory to do things that will be very beneficial in the long run, but I'm talking like really long run as in you probably won't really see any effect until 2 years from now, or ever most likely
also yes use flat keyboard also if you really want to get good ffr isn't really a suitable platform for doing so just get stepmania instead also you guys would really be surprised how far mashing actually gets you lmao also yes im right about everything ok |
Re: So in an attempt at improving
Lol stepmania every direction I turn. I really don't care for it, I rather learn this instead.
I disagree though on not taking your fingers off the keys, but all to their own right. |
Re: So in an attempt at improving
Go to your Level Rank Stats. Play the song that's on the very bottom of the list, it is the song with your worst rank. If it is a hard song, don't mash, actually try to hit the arrows and concentrate. As for accuracy, playing Stepmania might help, otherwise it will naturally improve.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
That level ranking is messed, theres some songs in there that I'm sure I've never played, let alone played enough to get into the top 200 scores.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
uhh w.e ok then have fun never getting good at ffr
|
Re: So in an attempt at improving
I thank you for the motivation.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
everybody says stepmania gets you better at ffr but could someone point me to a thread that ight be made with steps on wat i should download? i mean like which songs to get, which songs to practise. stuff like that.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
Damn =) I'm not sure if it's the switch to playing more 1x speed but I just did vertex beta on 1.50 and got only 16 misses & 150 boos. Which is nearly half as less as before.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
Most of the time you can get better on faster speed mods. Everyone has their limits, but try pushing them and see how things work. I worked my way up to 2.0 pretty darn fast. Skipped from 1.0 to 1.75, then worked up to 2.0 eventually.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
lulz @ stepmania. It's like nearly impossible to press arrows. It just doesn't have that smoothness feel like FFR.
|
Re: So in an attempt at improving
Stepmania is way way smoother. Play a couple songs on stepmania and then come back to FFR and you'll see a difference.

Re: So in an attempt at improving
lmao yea 900 fps is so much choppier than 30
doo |
Re: So in an attempt at improving
definitely!

Re: So in an attempt at improving
When i first started playing, i started off at x2 and played that easily. Also, to me it feels like FFR is like stepmania on Judge 3 (the default judge is 4). FFR feels much easier to get perfects on than stepmania. BTW, 160 boos on vertex beta is mashing :P
