I think the US can still make the round of 16 after the tie. What a win would have done was CLINCH a spot (and they almost did, twenty more seconds!), but now they'll have to either get some help or do well in their last group game.

Re: 2014 World Cup Brazil

Even if the US loses to Germany and Portugal beats Ghana, both games would have to be very lopsided for things to go Portugal's way. Current goal differential of -4, and +1 for the US. Even if the US lose by 2 and Portugal win by 2, the US would still advance (-1 vs. -2). The Portuguese don't deserve to move on though. :'(

But if Ghana and Germany win, then there's a better chance that US gets leapfrogged on goal differential.

Germany and USA can just decide to draw each other and both would advance. It wouldn't be good for the game but, hey.

I was wondering if an English player came out of his jockstrap, but then I remembered that "in the cup" meant the World Cup.

Germany would rather finish 1st in their group and have Ghana be the team on the other side of the divide in eliminations. Why on earth would they consent to a draw when the odds of them actually losing to the USA are pretty hilarious?

group g prediction: germany roasts us 3-0. ghana and portugal are 1-1 at 90' when the referee adds 15 minutes despite there being no second half goals or penalties. the referee ends the game at 90+3 anyway when ghana scores

Now that italy is out, my fellow compatriots will finally shut the hell up and get back to their life.
