Oh and the last time I played PnM is at 2009 with PnM 16 Party and made my way though with SigSig N. :S P.S. Nice that there is some discussion for PnM. Anyone herd about PnM 19 TUNE STREET? |
Re: Pop'n Music
I only play PnM at Anime/videogame conventions. Maryland is nothing when it comes to PnM or any music based arcade games.

we have pop'n 18 at my arcade in vegas. People say its good but I play like the same 2 songs on pop'n lol
|
Re: Pop'n Music
^-- Nice. At least your area is up to date and have access to such a imported game cabinet. ;_;
Oh and try the other songs. I forced myself to play a few I don't care, but int he end I have fun with the charts. |
Re: Pop'n Music
Played some Tune Street
I'm pretty sure few people here know what these charts look like so here I attach vids as well (not made by me) |
Re: Pop'n Music
Bump, been playing this quite often lately

EDIT: Kids March/Space-Merry-Go-Round EX 37 Emo/Sorrows EX 38 Ele Flood Wave/Aqua EX 40 (!!), my first 40 pass! Goa Trance/Implantation EX 40 (!!), second 40 pass |
Re: Pop'n Music
Nice scores. I've played a bit of pop'n the other day and was motivated to improve a bit but then IIDX caught my attention again.
I'm currently on the 37-38 wall, doing scales is too awkward for me on pop'n. |
Re: Pop'n Music
lmao LG wheres the arcade
Nice scores btw, pretty awesome :) |

Wish we had Technika here as well :| |

MidValley top floor arcade next to the bowling alley, has Technika 3 (not connected to the internet). RM2 per 3 songs There are Technika 1 machines scattered around here and there, I believe because a year ago Genting Highlands brought over like, 4~6 Technika 1 machines. Now they are all gone from Genting and probably are bought over by these arcades in KL. I saw some Technika 1 machines in Kepong. There's one in Cineleisure The Curve, but its RM3 and in bad shape |
Re: Pop'n Music
technika not connected to the internet sounds like the most useless thing ever.
|
Re: Pop'n Music
Its not too bad; they still have a decent songlist. I'm even glad enough that we even have them; Arcade music gaming here is dying besides DDR.. Internet in arcades here is only for those racing games (which are much more popular)
@PROGUY: We have legit Jubeat in KL too; not the e-magic ripoffs rofl. However they are really hard to come by, but there is a Jubeat machine in Kepong. Unfortunately, its the very first release of Jubeat and without internet so not much songs to play (not many Bemani originals).. (also, considering how many sequels/versions of Jubeat there are today) |

Since its kawaii i am sure its by dormir. Also alloyus you would need to spunge a sows account for popn
|
Re: Pop'n Music
Yay a response <3 sponge an account what? Can't I just play on my own like SM or is it totally different?
|
Re: Pop'n Music
Popn and any bemani data are available on the same source but its very hard to get pretty much. You can run it on SM and LR2 but it isn't as 'authentic'

Re: Pop'n Music
Is there a guide or any tips or anything about how to get somewhat decent at this? I play it quite a bit when I go to the arcade but I can't get any higher than 31s, and even then I can only consistently pass like 28s and lower. This game KILLS my hands so bad x.x palms always hurt like hell after a lot of playing.

Re: Pop'n Music
Hey everyone. I just recently purchased Dao ASC and started playing POP'n music. And right off the bat I have a question. I have far worse scores playing DAO at home than I get when I go to and play the actual arcade. So I know it's not me or my reaction timing. Something has to do with the input lag I guess.
I'm plugging this thing using USB. Windows 7. It has a noticable lag. Is there anyway I can fix it? Also a question on playing Lunatic Rave. Tried to play some bms using DAO, but the system recognizes DAO like it's constantly pressing "down" or something, so LR immediately starts the first track it sees, I can't even reach the options to remap the buttons. Any solution? |
Re: Pop'n Music
Depends on which version of popn that you are using. If you are using any old version of Popn that doesn't support native HD resolution (this is any Popn version before tune street) Then fullscreening the game will cause upscaling lag. If you can't afford to play tune street then just use a program that will allow popn to run in windowed mode like D3D windower or something like that. If you are using popn 19 or fantasia just use HD mode.

Re: Pop'n Music
Thanks for such a quick reply. I'll try that next time.

I've been playing Sunny Park lately. After 2+ years of hiatus I became so rusty it's not even funny, but hopefully I can fully recover through the intense rehab training I'm pulling off Level 47 Level 48 Level 49 |

Re: Pop'n Music
If any of you remember when LongGone, DarkRazor and myself met up, we played IIDX and PnM. At the time, it was Sengoku and it was online. However, due to some fucked up Konami policies, arcade operators here in Singapore only chose to keep IIDX, Jubeat and other cool and hip bemani games online. PnM is now offline and no longer updated, possibly due to the declining popularity. I really would love to play PnM again if it was online and if I remembered how to adjust the settings.

You can see more details on Facebook at fb.com/GamePlayMD. We're also having a DDR 2014 tournament this Saturday, so it's a great day to come in and meet other music game players. Let's prove to the arcade owners a music game community still exists here! EDIT: The machine has been updated to Sunny Park and is now online. |

Re: Pop'n Music
I'm curious if anyone on here owns their own machine. I've been looking at the pricing for the latest ones and found a popn 19 for $1750, which seems like a reasonable price. The only thing that's really holding me back is that I know nothing about caring for an arcade machine, specifically what goes in to maintaining it if things go wrong.
|
Re: Pop'n Music
No point buying the cabinet if you haven't a clue on maintaining said machine.
|
Re: Pop'n Music
Yeah, that's kinda what I figured XD Hence why I was asking for input :P I mean, I'm sure I could learn, right? There's got to be guides or something around. And I have some connections to some people that live in this house full of arcade machines that I could probably hit up for help if I really needed it at some point.
|
Re: Pop'n Music
Based on my own experiences, the key elements of the cabinet are the screen, buttons and hard drive.
If the screen is poor quality, you'll get an effect called 'ghosting' whereby you feel like there's a ghost of the notes in its previous position. Very prominent in IIDX. If the hard drive is in poor condition or is old, then you'll end up having to load and wait a lot of the time. Dunno if you can upgrade to an SSD for this, lol. Buttons, self-explanatory. This is all based on my experience with IIDX. I don't work in an arcade and can't give advice as a technician but this is what I think is important to maintaining the machine. Oh, and online network is awesome as well. |
Re: Pop'n Music
I'm using an SSD in my cab. pop'n 15+ is set up to use 2.5" drives so it's just a quick image and swap if you want to switch. The biggest worry I'd have with a cab would be maintaining the monitor; I lucked out on getting one with no contrast/brightness/burn-in issues.
Most annoying problem I'm having is not getting any voltage on lights 7 and 8, and on my cab style you can't get to the power distribution board without disassembling everything, so I just haven't bothered trying to fix it since my machine is in an arcade. |

I just got this yesterday Bring Lapistoria in US please |
Re: Pop'n Music
super necro bump goooooooo.
Does anyone even still play this anymore since leonid destroyed the entire game? In any case, I just bought a popn controller with my xmas bonus and got HDD rips for lapistoria and sunny park set up :) So as soon as that gets here I'll probably start posting stuff once I get into it. The only issue is that I can't for the life of me figure out how to screenshot it...Whenever I printscreen it just gives me a blank window =/ If anyone knows how to take screenshots, please let me know. I might just have to snap pics of my monitor lol. I don't think I've ever passed anything harder than a 32 on the old scale (I know the scale changed at some point...maybe fantasia?) so we'll see how it goes. |
Re: Pop'n Music
Make sure to get the right switches and springs. You want them to be 100g each.
|
Re: Pop'n Music
I got the Gamo one (new DJDao website), so I would think they did it right. I just got it today, so I'll find out tonight :)
|
Re: Pop'n Music
attack the hamburgers instead of smooshing them and use all your fingers
then you can be a true master maybe one day leonid will call you sempai..... . |
Re: Pop'n Music
The Dao pop'n controller has the rock heavy shitty springs. You want to replace them.
|
Re: Pop'n Music
How would I go about doing that? I'm really bad at messing with hardware.
Regardless, got it today and it feels good to me so far :) 36 seems to be about my limit. Can probably pass some random 37s or 38s, but only if they have patterns that agree with me. I'm really bad at any kind of rapid scales. I think that's the thing currently blocking me from getting a lot better. If you have any tips on how to do those, I'd greatly appreciate it. |
Re: Pop'n Music
Anybody know what the hearts on the characters in Lapistoria do? Tried looking online but I can't find anything. I assume it unlocks something eventually, but I've already gotten up to level 4 on one character and it hasn't done anything so I dunno.
In any case, I think I got the hang of this now :) Almost FCed a 37. Miss was right at the end :( Passed a bunch of 40s as well, though it was all on Hyper and it seems like they are a lot easier than EX 40s. |
Re: Pop'n Music
OK now I REALLY got the hang of it :) Looks like low 40s are my real limit now that I've gotten into the swing of things.
This is my new favorite song. Fun as hell. |
Re: Pop'n Music
Finally got my controller fixed and started playing again. Swapped out the buttons for better ones and stripped two of the wires x.x oops.
So close to 90k on a 40. Feels good :) |
Re: Pop'n Music
I'm still here :P Accuracy getting a lot better. This is also a really easy 38, but still. Feels good :)
