I plan on ejaculating a bunch of files onto FFR sometime in the near future. But I might need some help with choosing music. If anyone wants me to step something, and the music is actually good, let me know via PM or something.

whoa welcome back rebirth

hope you still feel welcome here after the whole batch scandal -- i think major mistreatment was done to you... anyways that's the past.

If you'd find it to your liking you could step some of my music:

Just to let you know, we're going to have a special "new song artist" batch soon that will involve simfiles only from unstepped artists. Check out the Song Artist Permission thread v5!

Any idea when the regular batch will be open again? I understand that it won't be for a while (probably a few months from now) but I have a file sitting in my folder that is ready for that batch lol.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2

Most likely this will happen (but still unconfirmed):

easy file batch ---> new song artist batch ---> hard file batch ---> normal batches, etc.

Oh! If there's a hard file batch / new song artist batch, I can just wait for those batches rather than the normal! In the meantime, I should probably start working on a few files for the easy file batch since I have a few songs in mind. Thanks for the quick response! :]

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2

I don't remember half of what happened, really. Me and the admins got into a shitstorm and I trolled them. That's what that was.

I have a decent selection of music to work with so far, though this will be a lot of work to make good files. But that's ok. I have never made files with the current theories. My new files will be similar to my old ones.

Try to Star - SSH
Fleeting Fantasy - Phantasma
Identity - SHK
Recollection - SHK
Felys (Full Version) - onoken
Kick Your A (Full Version) - SuperGreenX
UNknown Girl (Full Version) - dBu
Renaissance - Smiley

That is what I'm planning so far. Bunch of full versions to files already in the game, yes. But mine will be fitting. Those songs deserve to have the entire song in the game rather than just a cut

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2

I decided to revise the list of ratings to better reflect the current usage. Take it or leave it, this is all just a suggestion.

[Main Ratings] - These all correspond to numbers on a 5-point scale. The ratings from each judge will be added together to give a score for each chart.
[++] = 5+/5 File is very fun and basically flawless - rare rating. The judge thinks better of you as a stepartist because you made this chart. Same as [+] for point counting, but 2 or more of these will give you Simfile Artist Points.
[+] = 5/5 File is strongly accepted to FFR. Any errors are minor.
[+.] = 4/5 File is lightly accepted to FFR. Could use some work, but is good overall.
[+?] = 3/5 File is lightly rejected from FFR. Needs some important tweaks in certain areas, or has many small technical errors, or doesn't have enough replay value.
[?] = 2/5 File is rejected from FFR, and won't be accepted unless the other judges give very high ratings. Needs significant reworking to be good enough for FFR - not close to acceptance.
[-] = 1/5 File is strongly rejected from FFR, and won't be accepted regardless of the other judges' ratings. File needs to be completely redone. This includes files that were rejected because of:
- freeze arrows or mines anywhere in the file;
- significantly incorrect BPM;
- very high overall difficulty or difficulty spikes, making this file totally unsuitable for FFR.
[--] = 0/5 File was a waste of the judges' time - rare rating. The judge thinks worse of you as a stepartist because you made this chart. 2 or more of these will take away Simfile Artist Points.
[#] Conflict of interest - judge can't objectively rate this file. It will be given to someone else.
[!] The judge didn't play this file for some reason: blatantly obvious permission issues (submitting a Led Zeppelin file for instance), technical issues making the file unplayable, multiple difficulties, etc.

[Sub Ratings] - You can add these, but make sure to also include a main rating.
[<] This chart is worse than another submitted chart for the same song.
[>] This chart is better than another submitted chart for the same song.
[$] This chart is better than a chart for this song that is already in the queue, and that file should be replaced with this one (they are too similar for this to be a v2).

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2

The only thing I think you should change is that you should not link [++] and [--] with the judge's perception of the stepper. Especially for newer steppers who may end up with [--], this is discouraging. Doesn't matter how rare these ratings are.

I agree with the reworking, but bmah's right, even if that was a joke it's discouraging and insulting.

I honestly do feel like this is how they're used now, though. Most of the time I see a --, there are also comments (not necessarily by that judge) about how the person doesn't know what they're doing and should stop submitting files. And similarly, when a file gets ++'d, you see comments (again, not necessarily by the judge) going "you are awesome", "thanks for this chart", and so on. They may just be grades, but from what I've seen, perception of the stepper is implied.

I think the Simfile Artist Points idea (which I gotta say I'm not so fond of) also reinforces this concept. Getting more than one ++ gives you more points, which means "FFR wants to see more of your files in the batch", and getting more than one -- gives you fewer points, which means "FFR wants to see fewer of your files in the batch". So, to me, a single one of those votes means the same thing, just to a lesser extent. In addition, ++ and -- almost never affect the acceptance of files (a ++ rarely pushes a file over the edge, and a file with a single - is generally already auto-rejected), so you'd really only give a ++ to be extra nice to someone, and a -- to be extra mean to them.

And I agree, getting a -- IS discouraging. Especially so with the policy nowadays that a low enough score (or enough --s) will put your file submission cap below that of 99.999% of users. If we're going to be that mean to people who just picked the wrong place to practice their chart making skills, we should at least be honest about it.

I don't really think -- should even exist, it's like a huge slap in the face, especially to new steppers.

btw I think we need to have a token month in July, like we did back in 2007. That's the way to get stuff done. I'd even help out with that
