Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
D5 is the highest division. And I don't want to go nuts with people trying to get into other divisions playing other styles. The only reason AJ was going to do it is because 1 he'd crush everyone in d5 (unless dossar plays) so he wanted other people to have a shot at 1st in D5. Plus it's kinda boring for him since he AAAs everything. At least 1 handed he has a challenge because he struggles to FC things.

Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
I'm in for D1. oh and what is combo scoring?
|
Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
Oh, if its a 5 division tournament, I might be more appropriate for D3.
<-- No FMO AAAs, few VC AAAs. |
Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
If you are going to do combo based scoring can you set a boocap on the songs each round so people cant go and be stupid and just mash the song because they cant combo it/FC it?

[Perfects * 550 + Goods * 275 + Averages * 110 - Misses * 110 - Boos * 200 + Combo * 1000] Your combo has far more impact on your score than your PA [Perfect Attack - basically your accuracy] or your boo count, or anything else, for that matter. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that you can buttonmash the whole song - you can get a 2,000 boo FC on La Camp, say, and still get a ranking in the top 500, because you hit every note and thus get about 3 million points for the 3,000 combo - the 2,000 boos only take off 400,000, which is easily made up for by the perfects, goods and averages. Thus, a score of like 100-30-0-200 on some song beats a 0-0-1-0 provided the song has a good amount of notes. [and the guy with the missflag didn't miss at the very beginning or end, but that's kinda trivial] This is why most tourneys use "raw score" which is the score kept track of at the bottom of the screen as you're playing the song. tl;dr - Synth put it in unaware of that ^ in the site's infant years and it's become really annoying. |
Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
Frankly combo scoring sucks lol. But in the spirit of trying to be as classic as possible I'm using it.
Unfortunately plan remedy is right, but I don't think mashed scores should be much of an issue in this tourney. |
Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
Why haven't they changed the scoring system to something more plausible already?
|
Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
I'm not sure if it's going to be the same with BW we'll have to see.

Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
i guess ill try my first tourney ever, if u let me... in (:

Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
The reason why they havnt "fixed" combobased scoring is because FFR saves your "best" score, you could very easily lose FCs, which makes improving scores less exciting.
|
Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
FC's are basically as meaningless as overall rank. Because they can be mash FCed there is no excitement in it. Right now there are tons of people higher up in the ranks than they should be because someone mash FCd their score and the other person may have had like an sdg type score but with one miss. There's no reason for combo to be worth THAT much.

Re: FFR Classics Short and Sweet Tourney
