I found one that is pretty cool Rebirth by Propellerheads (used to cost money but they stopped developing it and moved to a new one called Reason) but you can get a free CD ISO image of Rebirth at the rebirth museum. It emulates 2 TR303, a TR808, and a TR909

Re: Common Music-creating Software (read if interested)
I have a correction for Reason:
Yes, you have 20 minutes of playtime. But you're also severely limited in that you're not allowed to save your projects or render your files AND you only have access to a grand total of 2, I believe, of the default Sound Banks. These reasons (tee-hee), combined with the 20-minute-thing, are the only reasons why I have, for the moment, downloaded the full version of Reason through BitTorrent. I hate myself for doing so, and stopped seeding the file as of 8-ish weeks ago, but it was just literally impossible to truly get a feel for the software when I could literally do almost nothing with it. Once I screw around with it, make a few songs, and decide if I REALLY like, then I'll actually buy the software. Kn'a'mean? |

Correction:
Reason runs on mac. |

Hey, here's one that runs on Mac and PC:
Sibelius It costs money, and is pretty expensive, but it is a GREAT program. |

Re: Common Music-creating Software (read if interested)
I'm thinking of buying SONAR Home Studio 6 XL
Would it be a good purchase or would you suggest something better for me to make music with for only $200 |
Re: Common Music-creating Software (read if interested)
Do you have any experience with computer music?
|
Re: Common Music-creating Software (read if interested)
While this thread is still active, what program do you guys think would be best for beginners, yet still giving enough experience to work with more advanced programs down the road?
I have FL Studio and I really can't make much sense out of it other than the piano roll and adding VSTi channels. |

Re: Common Music-creating Software (read if interested)
I've been using frooty loops for years now, and I have to say that in my opinion, it's the easiest software to start out with, if you want to make techno/hip hop... for anything else, i would say garage band, for beginners. Truly there is no one perfect program. It depends on what you want to use it for.
