Yup, when it first came out I played it a few times and kept BFing it so I gave up. Hadn't played it since.

Dang it...At about 900 combo or so, I got too excited and hit a boo by accident. Then I messed up at the first 32nd note. I probably won't beat this score though.

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tournament

so, i just re-calculated the scores on the proposed 10 point scale... with each AAA tie giving 10 per person (as opposed to the average of the points for all tied values, aka 9 for each of 3 tied for 1st, 9.5 for 2 tied, etc etc). It isn't even close...

Tass - 87
dabigpig - 77
dore - 76
Fractal - 75
ryan - 72

as opposed to the current system, where everyone is still quite close at the top.

edit: decreasing points on the AAA ties to keep a set number of points per round would bring my score, dore's, fractal's, and ryan's scores down... dabigpig's would stay the same. to give the exact figure... every AAA on Tetris or OLB would give 7.83 instead of 10 (for 6 tied AAAs), Platypus would give 8.2 (for 5 tied AAAs), and GR2R would give 9 (for 3 tied AAAs). which is a total loss to tass, dore, and ryan of 7.14 points. Fractal would lose 2.17. Which would give this top picture:

Tass - 79.86
dabigpig - 77
Fractal - 72.83
dore - 68.86
ryan - 64.86

much closer between myself and dabigpig, as it basically gives more weight to the mental aspect than the FFR aspect.

Here's some scores. And I might do more puzzles/redo these songs.

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tournament

That's an interesting method for song score tabulation. Am I correct in seeing this as
1 - 10
2 - 9
3 - 8
4 - 7

such that a three way tie for 1, means we have levelrank 1, 1, 1, 4 scoring 9, 9, 9, 7 points? I think that's a good way to give good points to everyone who AAAs, but giving -more- points to people who AAA the harder songs (which less people will AAA) But I'm not entirely sure that's what I want to happen. I'm including a fairly wide variety of difficulty levels, but rewarding the harder songs more highly than the easier songs also helps discourage the people who aren't quite as good, even if on the surface it actually brings -down- how many points the AAA'ers get when there are more of them.

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tournament

1 10
2 9
3 8
4-5 7
6-7 6
8-10 5
11-13 4
14-17 3
18-20 2
21+ 1

but, yea. so 6 AAAs would be 10+9+8+7+7+6 = 47/6 = 7.83

and, it does wind up giving "more" points for harder AAAs... but it's all relative. the more people that AAA, the less points each AAA person gets, and those who get less than a AAA will still get their few points, they'll just be closer. like 3 points for 14th vs 7.83 for a 6-way tie for 1st. vs a hard song with no ties, 1st gets their 10, 2nd gets 9, 14th still gets their 3. the overall points given out is identical, just the distribution is a bit different. vs giving 10 points to each of the 6 AAA ties, then dropping all the way to 6 points for 7th. this would be 7.83 for the 6 AAAs and 6 points for 7th. less of a penalty for not AAAing but still being close to a AAA.

regardless, i still do not advocate switching the scoring system this late into the tournament. not that it'll matter. :).

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tournament

OH no, you're correct in that changing it mid-tourney is a bad call. I'm just assuming (perhaps falsely) that people might actually like this tourney enough to want me to do another one at some point.

Should all be updated, but I added in a -lot- of info just now, so I'm fully expecting a number or two to be slightly off *grin*

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tournament

New round is tonight yes, and sorry dore, this next one's pretty easy. So far I'd done a 5, 7, 7, 8, 8 and 9 difficulty. This upcoming round's will be the easiest yet, but there's at least going to be a 10 and possibly/probably an 11 or 12 in before the end.
