Which hand do you use? Which fingers? Keys?

Should we have names for the 'misc' groups if enough players are gathered?

It also makes left-hand patters alot easier.

I'm assuming this is replacement.

Also, about solo... you should try playing Lunatic Rave Online.

I play one-handed for easy songs obviously and I play spread for the more difficult songs.

One-handed - Two fingers
Spread - A S K L keys.

You won't be doing easy songs soon enough. In either case, the one handed is not sufficient info.

As Spammy said, the left hand is different (ring middle vs middle index). However, the official term for hybrid spread is fairly a new entity, so many people may refer to any spread that isn't index middle to be hybrid.

Yes, depends on which misc you're talking about. In the spread misc, no one is exactly the same. the key assignement is differently shaped, despite the synonymous (L index, R index, R middle, R ring) finger placement. However, if you wish to bunch you 3 up, then go ahead. I just need a name.

If you're talking about me, essentially it's traditional 2-handed, just with a slightly different key setup. I wouldn't exactly call it spread, because the arrows are touching. If I could be in Misc, that'd be cool, though.

crobins - [← ↓ ↑ →] (L index, R index, R middle, R ring)
lxDestinyxl - [num4 num2 num8 num6] (L middle, R index, R middle, R ring)
tha Guardians - [j k o p] (L index, R index, R middle, R ring)

You three, have the same finger placement with different shaped key arrangement. If you want to name yourselves under the same finger placement, give me a good name for (L index, R index, R middle, R ring)

Re: FFR Player's Handstyles

I used to use 2 hands, 3 fingers. Occasionally, during songs like FotBB I'll switch to index really fast for the trills and switch back—all on JKOP.

Midday, could you explain the point of this thread? Unless it's just to give users an idea of what's popular, easy, etc., I see this thread as a bit pointless.

I hope it doesn't turn in to another, "I use one hand and I'm just as good as you, so actually I'm better than you" threads.

There is a purposes section that answers this.
Purposes
-get the general sense of what styles are used most often
-be able to find new users who share the same style you do
-discover radical and inventive styles to make FFR challenging and fun
-possibly weed out unknowing newbies who are playing double setup

If these purposes are pointless to you, then so be it. I see a point, hence I continue this thread. Some people agree, some people don't. Hence, I will do what I can to make this thread seem purposeful. I have devonin's support.

THAT is solely up to the community. It is of my concern that I continue with what I started this thread for, and so I will act accordingly if such disgust were to start in my thread. However, it is not I who starts such disgust, but the community. Tell the community, not me.

Whatever "classical" spread is. key arrangements please, assuming you're index middle spread.

lol

I respect this thread. I'm definitely not against it.
I still don't see the point to this thread, in that I don't think playing style is a large concern.

It certainly couldn't hurt to have something like this, though.
However, it's just a matter of time before this becomes a technique war. Index vs. Spread vs. One Hand, etc.

Also, we usually lock "what style do you play" threads because there are just so many of them posted all the time. But this one looks sufficiently well organised and designed as an actual resource instead of "I play this awesome way I bet nobody else does" that chances are you may end up with a sticky, and then we can simply point all similar thread creators to this one.

Here's the supportive statement... although I pissed him off by missing it the first time around... I still apologize for that.

I personally would like to see indexers make their own thread like the one handers did.

As long as the assertive people don't make aggressive statements when posting their playstyle, I think everything will be fine.

People who do make statements about their playstyle do it in peaceful and informative ways to give other people ideas about various playstyles. There's no aggression from those kinds of people.

Once an aggressive statement is made, all that we have to do is not retaliate with another aggressive statement. Just state that the statement was inexcusably rude, or if it gets too far, have a mod ban him.

Go to Settings on the game menu, and there will be a box that you can change the keys to the ones you want.

Re: FFR Player's Handstyles

My FFR runs extremely slow atm.

Would someone like to get screenshots of the game settings? I can make a section on how to set keymapping/speedmods, or rather the whole setup itself.

Also, I plan to make a section on speedmods. Who plays what speedmod etc.

What do you think? If we incorporate SM, it may be hard to keep up with cmod values, but we can do it by range.

Yet another section on scrolls. What do you think?

That all sounds awesome. Some people also use options such as dark or different noteskins, did you want to include that stuff too? Also, were you planning on making another thread when doing this, or just adding it to this one?

Also, for the screenshots of game settings, did you just want a picture of the game setting screen or a bunch of different things about it?

Though really, it would be really cool if you actually did add all that in, and I'd be happy no matter how you did it

Re: FFR Player's Handstyles

I want:
A non-edited screenshot of the FFR game screen with the settings open, .png.
A non-edited screenshot of the FFR game screen without the settings open, .png.

Everything will be done in this thread. I would like to add the following:

How to:
-screencut
-zoom
-enlarge (arrekusu93's script)
-set speedmod
-set scroll
-set modfiers
-glossary

Speedmod
-SM cmod
-FFR xmod
-screencut/window size
-alt account difference

Modifiers
-FFR mods
-SM mods
-alt account difference

Scroll
-general scroll
-alt account difference

The alt account difference will encourage people to try out new settings on alt accounts, and try to record accomplishments with these new settings.

AND LASTLY, I'd like to add:

User list data
-username
-handstyle
-scroll
-speedmod
-additional mod

What do you think? Yes, this will take an ENORMOUS amount of time to efficiently organize, but I'm willing to do it so long as people submit.

If I add all of these things to this thread, I would like the thread title to be changed to something more suitable, and I would like this to be stickied.

Re: FFR Player's Handstyles

First of all I think we can keep the current style and implement modifiers and whatnot to it. Just have it display:
<name> - <mod,mod,mod> - <handstyle>
Although if you do go through with this you may want to change the thread name to playstyle instead of handstyle to avoid confusion :-D

From your helpful Omgooses, screencaps :D . Linked so the page wouldn't be stretched for some people.

This alone won't allow me to calculate the total number of people doing each kind of setting.

Hence, I made a separate username list on the bottom of my to do list on my previous post.

I want a list that totals the various settings, as well as individual username data.

Only reason finger placement and keymaps are together, is because they are related to each other.

Re: FFR Player's Handstyles

I just wanted to inform you midday that I still use index mainly, but I have been trying to learn spread as well. Right now the best I can do index is 20 goods on vertex beta, and my best on spread is an fc with 20 or so goods on chlorophyll. Is that good enough to also list, or should I wait until I have either totally switched to spread or am better at spread then index?

If you want to add me to spread, I am the same as devonin, which is Index Middle Spread: (a s j k)

Also bump for awesomeness :D
