I still use 1.75x speed. But I'll probably change to 2x sometime soon. You just have to use the best speed for you at the moment. When you feel you can play "decently" on a higher speed, change to that speed, and you will get used to it pretty fast. 1.75x seems to be the most common speed used among FFR Players. I have been using it for a long time, it is really good. Even though, to play FGOs the best speed is 2x, which takes a pretty long time for most users to be able to play on it. I am gradually increasing my speed on StepMania (4.0) which is more exact, since you can change to millions of possible speeds. Speed 1.75x is like C600 on StepMania, and 2x is C700. I started playing it on C600, and now I am on C675. I just keep increasing a litte bit each time I feel I had some improvement on the game, and when I can play C700 on SM I will also be able to play 2x on FFR. I hope it helps you. =)

I think it was on my second week playing FFR. Still, since it was long ago, I might be wrong about that.

How did I get good? Hm...Playing FFR and StepMania a lot. I always played a bunch a day, since I started playing this game (like 5 months and a half ago), and that makes me improve faster than others. If you play like 4 hours a day, you will notice a big difference on your improvement.
