ATTN: Do not spam in this thread without a PMS account.
Need credits? As of 7/27/08, Ben and I have 182,276 credits left combined, and we plan on giving them all away if you post! First of all, new members who make at least three posts get a free 100 credits (Alts do not earn you credits for making 3 posts on them, and I won't give out credits for each additional alt used beyond using 9 alts or for trying to game this prize to earn the 100 credit prize for each alt. However, the other prizes do apply with alts, no matter how many you use)! Also, I will be giving away 250 credits each time someone achieves a total postcount of 100, I will be giving out 1,000 credits for every multiple of 500 posts made, and for every multiple of 5,000 posts made I will give out 5,000 credits! This means I could easily run out of credits before 1milget ends, so hurry and take our credits while you can! If ANYONE (That includes you, Breakdown) passes PMS-Benjamin_Harrison, and stays in 1st place for over three months, I will give out all of my remaining credits. Credits are only being given out for posts made on or after 7/21/08. Using alternate accounts to try and win lots of credits is allowed, except for the making 3 posts prize or trying to game the 100 credit prize, so if you want, use five accounts at once! I know it sounds complicated, but basically this system gives a some extra incentive for posting more. Donations are highly welcome, and you can donate to me or PMS-Benjamin_Harrison. If you have any questions or need clarification on these prizes please post in the Tips, Questions and Suggestions thread for help. If by any chance we miss giving out credits please let us know via pm or clearly in 1milget, we might not see everyone who posts but so far we have yet to miss. - Updated 7/26/08
Tips:
1. With this tip, you can get alt-s to work in Firefox for posting in the forums, guaranteed to work. Type about:config where you would type in the website you want to go to. Then click yes, I'll be careful. Then, in the search bar, type ui.key.generalAccessKey, then double click that item, then change the value from -1 to 18, hit enter, and then restart firefox. Now alt-s will work for posting in the forums and will open the history tab in the rest of the forums! Another benefit is that this will also help you post faster in any forum that you post in. I highly recommend this method.
2. Try holding down alt-s after you finish typing the post and before ten seconds have passed. Experiment with starting to hold down alt-s right after finishing with typing the post and right before the ten seconds pass to see what works best for you, starting later will help reduce lag while watching youtube videos, but starting earlier will ensure that you post your fastest and reduce how often you have to count.
3. Multitask. It's possible to read an article, listen to music, post in the Profile Chat and post all at the same time and still make a post every 10-11 seconds, it just takes a little practice, the use of two or three windows and the correct arrangement of said windows. You can even have the TV running in the room and watch that while posting at the same time if you want. They have all been done, and multitasking should come pretty easily with some practice if done right. Ben says that he'll have the posting window on the bottom of the screen be the height of the blue top bar and have the top window be about full screen size. While the posting window is highlighted on the bottom, he scrolls in the top one to read, and quickly pushes alt tab to get back to posting whenever he has to click or type in the top window. In the top window, he'll also have a tab for music, and perhaps another window for chatting, in which case both top windows will be about half-size, with one window having two tabs. Experiment and see what works best for you, everyone is different and there is no best way to multitask. You'd be very surprised what you can do with these strategies, both in the forums and in life in general. Now that credits are being given out so plentifully, you'll earn a ton of credits with ease by multitasking, and you'll have thousands of credits before you know it.
4. When posting gets slow as a result of there being too much on the page, try pushing alt-x for advanced post, type in your post (both can be done in any order) and then click post quick reply (alt-s may not work here). This way, FFR will take you to the end of the forum, the page refreshes and you make a post all in one.
5. If you're new, pace yourself. For a new poster, 200 or 300 posts in one day is really good, although if you follow the tips you should be able to get more. If that gets too easy, try pushing it up more (the most experienced posters will often do more than 1,000 posts a day, sometimes 2,000 or more!)
6. Have fun! Posting in 1milget is what you make of it, make the best of it. See it as a good opportunity to strike some conversation, improve your ability to multitask, or anything else you can think of. You'll find that these tips apply in other areas of the forums too.
If you combine tips 2 and 3 and get good at them, you will be able to post faster than ever before while doing multiple things at once. Hopefully these tips will help us reach our goal of one million posts quicker than we ever thought possible. For all you people thinking about joining PMS, it's good to try everything at least once, if we can all post just a little then we could reach our goal in no time! You might just find it more enjoyable than FFR chat, the conversations can get very interesting at times. Experiment, and try what works best for you. Here's a quote I read from an action pistol competition shooting book by Michael J. Plaxco titled Shooting from Within that I think is one of the greatest life lessons you could possibly learn: "Experimentation should be constant, and so should experiences. We learn from both, and both feed one another." I would have to agree with this, if I didn't constantly try to keep myself open and try new things then I would certainly be more devoid of experience.
Props go to PMS-Benjamin_Harrison for finding these! Thank you for your time and effort, it has been an honor.
