I was wondering if anyone could suggest me any DJ equipment such as mixers and turntables and other such equipment. Even things like headphones, cables, etc. I just want to know if you guys could link me to a cost-friendly purchas; a link to get my money's worth.

I got the thought of becoming an awesome DJ that would perform in front of huge crowds but not at lame parties or anything. The idea came from a friend of mine showing me the remix of Justin Timberlake's Lovestoned done by DJ Tiesto.

Thanks a lot.

To be honest, if you plan on being an awesome DJ that would perform in front of huge crowds, chances are your going to have to start at lame parties or anything. I have a friend who did just that.

DJ Equipment, you say? Well, allow me to help you out.

First and foremost, you need to decide which type of media you're going to use for spinning, CD or Vinyl. Vinyl gives you more control on the track, while CD is more versatile with it's song selection. I highly suggest you find a place that has both types on the display floor, so you can mess with them both and choose your forte.

If you choose to have a vinyl setup, and assuming you already have the speakers and the equilizers, two good direct drive tables (The best one's available, never trust belt drive) and a standard mixer/preamp for a little under $400-$500, not including vinyl. Most vinyl genres will vary by price. Because I have to import to get my UK Hardcore vinyl, I end up paying around $10 per 12" (Which is not a bad deal at all).

If you choose to have a CD setup, it'll cost you about twice that amount (About $1000-$2000. However, because you can burn your own CDs, the cost of media (Besides blank CDs) is taken out of the picture. You can also do a lot more cook things with a CD Turntable, such as cueing certain sections for sampling. This can be absolutely amazing during breakdown and scratch sessions.

I hope that helps some. I've been spinning for around 5 years, so I guess I know my stuff.

As for places to buy:

http://www.djdeals.com
Cheap as hell and damn good equipment. I would not recommend buying equipment from any place other than this site.

http://www.dancerecords.com
They're one of the largest US distributors for vinyl, mainly catering to the trance genre.

http://www.imorecords.com
The biggest UK Hardcore selection on the planet.

http://www.midtownshop.nl/
The biggest Gabber/Dutch Hardcore selection on the planet.
