d4's daily ffr tournament! (masters not accpeted, 6 day tournament)

Welcome to d4’s daily tournament!

Before you think about joining this tournament, make sure you can post a score every day. If not enough people post for each round, time will be extended.

***Sign-up’s are now closed.***

Tournament summary:

The tournament will be strictly of skill in PA (perfect attack). The person with the lowest PA will be eliminated and the highest will move on. Averages count as 2 goods. So if everyone gets two goods, and you end up with one good and one average, you will have the lowest score. All speedmods are accepted.

Masters will not be accepted unless 6 or more will join before deadline. if you are a master, please PM to me if you want to have a master division. if i get 6 or more PM's, i will need some credit donations from some entrants.

The tournament will be about or less than one week. So the prize is not very large. It will consist of 6 rounds/days. Each round will end at 9:00 P.M. eastern every day and start at 10:00 P.M. eastern. Each division will have 14 people minimum. I am hoping to get around to the tournament looking like this:

Beginner=26-18-12-8-6-2
Intermediate=20-14-10-6-4-2
Advanced=14-10-8-6-4-2

These are the limits. If you want to win credits, then sign up fast, because signups end soon and they will close as soon as the top number of players I expect in each division is reached.

You will be placed in a division by either my choice or your own. You may not be bumped down. If your skill exceeds intermediate and you wish to be placed in beginner, you will be placed in intermediate. Otherwise you will be bumped to a new division if one is full.

***If you meet the requirements for intermediate, you will not be placed in beginner. Same with advanced. To be in the tournament, you must have at least passed the requirement for beginner:***

Beginner: at least one AAA or an overall play time of 0.20 years.
Intermediate: at least 10 AAA’s and 100 Full Combo’s or overall play time of 0.50 years.
Advanced: at least 20 AAA’s and 150 Full Combo’s or overall play time of 1.00 years.

If any one of these divisions sounds like your skill, then ask for it.

The difficulties of each division range:
Beginner: Easiest-Difficult
Intermediate: Difficult-Very Challenging
Advanced: Challenging-FMO

im having some trouble with account placement. the placements arent permanent, so if you are unhappy with your position then just wait. if masters want to join, i would need some credit donations and at least 6 master entrants. Also, division sizes may be changed due to how many people want to join the tournament in each division.

Uhm... I thought this was a PA tournament? A tournament that's scored in goods isn't a PA tournament. The score has to depend on how you hit the notes. And one thing for sure is that combo doesn't matter. In FFR, it takes 13.75 boos to equal the number of points you lose from getting a good. Four boos equaling one good is... well... Yeah...
Well, for an example... I can get, like, four (or five?) goods on R176, but I often get average-misses. Even though my PA would be better than, say, someone who had... 12 boos, I would probably still lose because of the average-misses.
Yeah... I was hoping to be a part of a tournament where you could get a good PA and average misses, and still win over someone who got a better combo but more goods.

I don't think your tourney is "****ty", I just thought that it was falsely advertised.
And I never said anything about wanting to play "piss easy slow songs". ... I joined this because I want to play the fast songs.

I had another thought about the grading... For songs with four-or-more-framers, what you can do... Take whichever of averages, misses, and boos were hit fewer... and subtract that number from all three values. Only count those against a player. It's not a perfect system, but... yeah. And, y'know, average misses aren't caused by a lack of PA. So what I thought up would remove all possible average misses from the score. And then, also, because non-av-miss-averages are caused by a lack of PA, you can still deduct those. Misses are caused by lack of being able to hit certain patterns. Boos come from hitting a note too late (but come on, I don't think someone's reaction time could be that slow, unless they're only a casual player), hitting a key on accident, not getting a pattern right (mashing)... If you want to take off for boos, you shouldn't take off much. So, like... could have non-av-miss averages count as 1.2 or 1.5 goods and have non-av-miss boos count for, say, 0.1 goods.

In my opninion, I dont think those that can remember should be rewarded for forgeting. Those of us who sent in scores are now beeing hindered because some ppl cant remember what todo.
