If there's any people that can make it here.. maybe there could be a convention held in like ottawa? I'm just suggesting that because I'm not sure how many people can actually MAKE it to canada. I live here so I can make it for sure.

If there is a Canada convention anytime in the next year, It will most likely be in Toronto or Ottawa.

Yes.
And more yes.
-Raises hand-
I completely agree with a Canada convention.
If it was in Toronto... I would probably die of happiness before coming back and attending.

I am aware of the chances of that happening though.

I like how NOBODY LIVES IN THE SAME GODDAMN PROVINCE GAH.
I'm from Hamilton, Ontario, and would definitely do a Toronto thing. Actually, what I think would be infinitely more fun was if we spent the day somewhere awesome like Playdium or Canada's Wonderland.

I would love to go to any of them but the fact is that I live in Moncton New Brunswick and there is no way anything like this would be held anywhere close to here.

maybe we could set something up for a late-september convention at wonderland or something? We'd need some more people though.

We would have at least 50 if anyone actually came to this section of the fourms.
But why Wonderland? Wouldn't we come to a convention to play dance games and not to go on 100ft roller coasters?

How about somewhere in Manitoba seeing as how it's kinda the centre of the country (geographically).

Wonderland's arcades are really good as far as rhythm games go and we can sneak in easily (lol); if we get bored of arcade games, there's a load of coasters and whatnot to go on.
Playdium is the best arcade in the area, and it's in Mississauga, which is like ten minutes from Toronto. It's pretty good for rhythm games too and has a Supernova machine, an Extreme machine, and an ancient one (lol), plus some drum games and Guitar Freaks and Beatmania last I checked.
We could even do BOTH OVER TWO DAYS WHAT depending on how much money everyone has.
Also, no, we aren't doing one in the middle of the country, I'm pretty sure no one wants to drive over three hours.

Look, if you wanted to include everyone, you'd have to have a few conventions. Canada is FREAKING HUGE. You can't just have a "canada convention" and expect everyone from canada to come. Canada takes like at LEAST 6 hours to fly across and at LEAST a few days to drive across. You hold one in Toronto or Ottawa and you've got the best chance of people coming, though you'd never get the same people coming to the Toronto one as the Ottawa one. They're just too freaking far apart.
Again, Canada's freaking huge.

Okay, so we've determinded that by popular vote, Toronto is the favourite approximate place to do the convention. That's good.
Now we should establish where exactly. I've already thrown out Playdium (http://www.playdium.com) and Wonderland (http://www.canadaswonderland.com) as ideas. What do people prefer, and does anyone have any other ideas for places to go?

I live just outside of London, and would be able to make this convention, if it was in Toronto.
I really like the Wonderland idea (since I love coasters). Just, don't get too excited to play DDR there though. Its a crappy pad, with the PS2 version that only has the default song list ;_;
Playdium has an ITG2 dedicab, Supernova and I think another DDR machine I'm pretty sure. And a bunch of other arcade games. It would be great for games.
Personally, if I had to pick between the two, I'd say Wonderland. Or, we could do the two day thing, so some people can only go to one if they want to, or both. Either or, I'm for it.

Yea sure. Wonderland or Playdium.
I'll have to find $50 if were going to Wonderland and around that if it's Playdium.
What rythm games are there at Wonderland?
All I know of is the scam DDR machine.

It should be playdium, they have a whole thing at the back of DDR/ITG Machines, but I'm fine with Wonderland as well. I'm in Toronto so it doesn't really matter to me.

maybe if we can contact one of the places we could rent off a part of the place where we can run our convention? We might be able to get some computers and some projecters for bigger screens

Yeah, I was under the impression that this would be more of a meetup, and not a convention. That's why Wonderland might be a better choice; it's better for larger groups of people.

- Unfortunately at this time, we will not be considering events outside of the continental United States (excludes Alaska and Hawaii). Canadian events are a definitely possibility in the near future and if other countries build enough interest, we may expand even more. But for now - one step at a time.
What??? Nooo :(
Anyways, it's been 5 month. Is that near enough in the future?

2] Wonderland
3] Convention

should have conventions seperated in three for every part of canada. i live in new-brunswick so for people like me and people in nova scotia i think montreal would be far enough. and those alllllll the way in bc alberta etc. they'd have their own western meeting. and toronto well yeah.

I think the Toronto meet up at Playdium will probably happen again soon as the last one failed miserably...not too soon though. I'll probably set up a thread mid December for a convention during holidays in early January.

No one has mentioned the west so far; it's all about eastern Canada. We need one or more conventions in the west, like somewhere in Alberta or BC for example.

We should try Playdium once more, but this time it should fit everyone's schedule, and everyone should have a backup plan in case of an emergency (like Tokzic's case).

If we had a western meetup, it would have to be at playdium or at playland.
unless I could get a ride to alberta but Having been there many times (30+) I think Playland or playdium would be best.
