This years "(July Is) Summer In Ottawa" annual tournament is happening once again. Everyone who can get to Ottawa on the 28th of July should show up there. Attendees are from all over ddrfreak, ddrcanada, and ffr, as well as a few people from irl. Before I go on, here's some details.

Where: Midway Family Fun Park (2370 Lancaster Road)
Maps: GoogleMap (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2370+Lancaster+Road,+Ottawa,+Ontario,+Canada&sll=45.401854,-75.622978&sspn=0.00916,0.02562&ie=UTF8&ll=45.407248,-75.623016&spn=0.036637,0.102482&t=h&z=14&iwloc=addr&om=1) Mapquest (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=2370%20Lancaster%20Road&city=Ottawa&state=ON&zipcode=K1B&country=CA&geodiff=1)
When: Saturday, July 28th, 2007 Starting at around 11:00
Event Style: Double Elimination
Scoring Method: Highest Percentage
Entry: 15$ tops - depending on category
Prizes: All money collected (larger proportion to harder categories) + Sponsored prizes.
After Party: You bet your ass.

The after party will either be a house party - where I will DJ, or we will reserve a section of a local club for the night. For the former there will be beer and liqueur at the party some free but bring your own if you want more than a couple, for the latter, there would be alcohol available for those 18+ (hull drinking age)
After party thread: http://www.rgcanada.com/viewtopic.php?t=6320

The tournament is always awesome and involves all day ITG contest for all difficulties - out on the deck of the midway last year, maybe again this year. Last year we got a couple of free rounds of Go Karts at the end of the night - pretty much the hilight of the whole thing. The midway also has a DDR machine where you can warm up while the tourney is on. Everyone brings laptops and plays SM or FFR while mingling. It's a great time.

Also - if you need anywhere to stay or transportation from where you live - there are arrangements that might be made for you. Check the forums below.

The official forum for this tournament is at rgcanada, here:

And the information/signup thread is here:

You can express your interest here as well.

If there is anyone driving out from the Alberta area that would be willing to give me a ride I will definitely go, I'm saving my money for a laptop and a bus ticket to go to the possible FFR convention this summer. (I would love to play SM all the way there :) )

Alright folks, so it's that time of year again for an Ottawa FFR meet-up.

So this is all the basic information and specific details will be coming soon (i.e. the specific time to be at the midway, tournament details, etc.). The jist of everything is that we will all meet up at the venue, go out to get something to eat after the tournament, and then go party. An important note to remember though is that this is not just an ITG tournament, even if you don't play the game this is still a venue for everyone to meet and there will be more activities available for everyone.

At the moment I am already letting 3 people stay at my house from Toronto for this event, but if you go on rgcanada.com (links provided) you can find other billeting and transportation options. Or of course you can discuss transportation and billeting right here.

As for the after party, a lot of things are still up in the air; the preferred venue for the party would be in a large open house/room with refreshments and entertainment provided, but you should still be prepared to go clubbing if things don't work out (18+). For those who aren't 18+, don't fret because the tournament is going to be all day long and there will be plenty of time to mingle with all the rhythm and action video game players from across Canada including people from FFR.

Hope to see you all there!

EDIT: oh yeah I forgot to say; if you are from Ottawa or surrounding area and you are willing to let people stay at your house, please post that you are able to and how many people you can fit. Alain will update the first post with this info.

DoubleEdit: I just talked with the organiser and it looks like things will be starting around 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 28th.

That could be changed, just stay tuned for the rest of the details.

Even if the rule doesn't get changed you should come anyways, I know a handful of people who are just coming for the afterparty and another handful of people coming just to watch.

Updated a bit. I hope this gets fairly good response. Try to find people you think would be interested and relay them to this thread.

It would be really cool if I could go.

Ottawa's only a 6 hour drive...

I wish that I could cut straight across the lake.

I would definatly go, other than the fact that I can't score very well. Only 80's and low 90's. I'll wait till the next one when I'm better at it :).
