Of the next-gen consoles, a lot of games have come out and practically re-invented a bunch of genres. I'm listing all the games that added something new (for instance, Halo invented the 2-weapon, recharging health, etc. aspect of FPS, Splinter Cell and MGS reinvented stealth action). Vote for the game that you think is the most influential (not your favorite game of all time, try to be unbaised here). Also remember, this is JUST for next-gen systems, not anything other than games on PS2, Xbox and the Cube.

Judging only by influence and not by how I like the games, I would have to say Halo.
Before that, it was Max Payne with "bullet-time". For those of you who haven't heard that term, is was what started the slowing of time and dodging of bullets in the Matrix.

Then pick other.
I haven't decided for myself yet but I think Conker's Bad Fur Day is a better choice for platform than The Wind Waker.

I like P.N. 03, The Wind Waker, and SSX 3.

Your choice for RPG is a cel-shaded legend of zelda game?....
No single game can be called "most influential"
A lot of games have had an impact in one way or another. And what kind of influence are we even talking about? Fun factor? Graphics? Sound? Mood?
If you really want to talk about influential, you've gotta go back to first and second generation consoles IMO. Those are the games that shaped the future of their genres. The last truly innovative game I can think of is probably Resident Evil (first horror game? AFAIK) or Super Smash Brothers (4 player fighting game yaaay ;) ). Pretty much everything else is just improving on what's been done before.

Altairian is correct. Nothing can be voted "most influential", because it's all opinion, anyway.

I know it's opinion. I'm trying to see what people's opinions are...God you people take stuff too literally.

i'd have to say that GTA games have been the most influental just because of all the controversy and that GTA does happen to be one of the most liked games ever created........but what really sux is because of all the bad things in the game and all the complaints, rockstar will have to tone down the amount of "immature" content in the game............oh well.............

GTA was the most influential because it gave kids/parents an terribly easy scapegoat for when kids break the law.
Oh yeah totally GTA. It gave us a glimse into the darker side of human interaction. People carjack, kill, work for money, blow shi* up, etc. People Vs People basicly. Also it was a kick ass game, especially when you go around and just own bitc*es and pigs. That was some fun shi*
