For my fingers i use my right hand middle finger for the up arrow, right hand pointer for the down arrow, right hand ring finger for right arrow, and left pointer finger for the left arrow. I was Just wondering if this is oftenly used.

4 Finger. Kinda awkward 4 Finger setup, but whatever that works for you.

Left Middle: Left
Left Index: Down
Right Middle: Right
Right Index: Up

That's what I use. Your method seems a bit uncomfortable. It all depends on your keyboard.

I find it comfortable to use: Entirely right hand, middle finger up arrow, ring finger right arrow, index finger left arrow. And for the down arrow, I just move my middle finger down.

This is some split style of spread. I remember seeing someone who used this technique explain it with a cool picture. Not really my thing, but if you got used to it it could be just like standard spread, I imagine.

It is uncomfortable, but it works once you get use to it.

Wow It's been a while since I've been on these forums. Anyways, I always use Cartoon Dancer's technique which again is

all right hand: Right index covering left arrow, Right middle covering up and down arrow, and right ring covering right arrow.

This method has worked well upto now. I realized I was having a problem for a long time, but didn't know what it was and didn't realize it until now since I haven't been playing much FFR and stepmania in the past few years.

Anywhoo the issue is trying to do this:

< V ^ >

<
_V ^
<
_____>

When you have to do the middle 2 together and you dont have much time from left arrow (1) to the 2 arrows together, I often find that I skip the down arrow or I get the arrows together but then miss my placement when I move my right index back to it's original position.

I'm trying out the 4 finger technique and it hasn't been going so well, but that's because I just started. My brain is not at all used to it. I'm trying

< = Left Middle
V = Left Index
^ = Right Index
> = Right Middle

mine is a derivative of a 2 handed style:

left hand ring - left arrow
left hand middle - down arrow
right hand middle - up arrow
right hand ring - right arrow

i think thats naturally comfortable

Where do people come up with these spreads? Just stick with what works!

We don't pick a spread to use; it's what we use that makes it a spread.

I also use cartoon dancers technique, but i have recently started having problems with songs like Straight to video, specifically the up,down,up,down ect parts. I sorta knew i had this problem but i feel its to late to change my spread.

I use the exact same setup.

Oh wow, a bumped thread. Good job.

now you get bitchslapped.

okay.
whatever you feel comfortable use, and you will get used to it and get better.
i started the same way you did. but now i play:
Left Hand index: Down Arrow
Left Hand middle finger: Left arrow
Right hand index: 8 on numpad
Right hand middle finger: 6 on numpad

it helps me play faster and its way comfy.
