Hi, welcome to my first and only semi-formal post in this ludicrous thread.
My name is Sirnaka, I’m what some consider an asshole because I tend to boldly state what others don’t. I’m also found of acting like a retard for personal reasons, if you want to know the reasons you’re welcome to ask but for now lets keep moving.
I’m a person who’s known to be very observant, so from my observation skills I came up with an opinion. The Chat rooms mod and admin care very little of the chat room. Oh, no I didn’t say they all are bad at their “volunteering job“, What I’m saying is if the current situation of the chat room is the example of their effort, well what does it mean?
Lets face it the video chat is feces, excuse me if I sound harsh but what I’m trying to get across and I’m sure many agree. No matter how many upgrades the Video chat room receives it it’ll always be the rear of this site. Please don’t be hasty I’m not insulting the chat’s programmer or the people who “actually work” to improve the Chat-room. I’m just saying it needs some major improvement.
You don’t have to agree with me but for fun why don’t you go ask a person who had been using the VCR (Video-chat room) and are rational enough to formulate a conversation with out it involving any of the three favorite subjects spoken in the VCR. (Sex, drugs and violence.)
Well I know what a few are thinking, “Wait, Sirnaka is talking about the chat room?” yes I’m talking about the VCR not because I care much about the VCR nor because I think it’s the greatest feature in the site. (Sarcasms) it’s because the chat room is sinking faster than a paper replica of The titanic.
What am I getting at you ask?
The VCR needs a solution, an attempt to rescues it from the murky waters of the ignorant, We need not only a leader with a iron fist but rational and stable minded. Someone respected and proven to be a leader among the subjects. (You're free to bash my opinion but if you please make it a tasteful insult.)
What does it mean?
It means I feel like the VCR needs major improvement and as a fellow chatter I ask all who chat or once used the FFR chat room what is your opinions on the current situation of the chat room and how can it be improved?
Thank you for your time and god speed.

Why so hasty Miss B?
I was simply stating it's at horrible condition, you might want to try and read the whole thing before trying to get all "fierce dragon" on me. I'm a free to speak my mind. Sorry if you find it offensives but it's an opinion, or is it against the rules to state my mind?
Appreciate your attention and may the winds guide you safely.

sorry to say that after popping in the chat a couple of times i have to agree with the guy who made this topic
everyone (except for the mods) acts like a 14 year old immature ****head in there. i haven't seen a single constructive conversation at all in there. and my criteria for "constructive" is very loose.
telling all of the people who have half of a brain to "stay the **** out" is not exactly a good way to elevate the quality of the chat from "pure ****" to "ok at least there are a few people who aren't retarded"
so instead of getting all pissy and immediately dismissing this guy, why don't you get your head out of your ass and listen to what he's saying, because he's exactly right

It is a very simple situation here.. It is not that the people in the chat don't have half a brain, it's just a different crowd and a different age group. Judging by the fact that the chat is always active, I would have to say that there are definitely people that value the chat.
If you don't like the chat, don't enter the chat, it's not for you. Go have an AIM conversion with Socrates.

Hi, Sertman I'm glad you agree with my opinion,
first of all, I notices Raven was hasty enough to reply to thread with a simple “If you don’t like it get out.” while others chat moderators didn’t even read the thread nor cared enough to read it so let’s give her some credit.

Synthlight, that was a pretty half arse reply to the thread, neither did you attempt to understand what I was getting at or cared enough to. instead you went for the obvious “If you don’t like get out.” Sad, here I’m thinking cause you’re the big guy with some “experience” I was expecting some kind of wisdom from you, sadly none was delivered. Well I must understand not all creators are insightful.
I value your comment not because I want to but because you’re the head honcho.

You don't value my comment. How can you even attempt to say that you do? I have been moderating chat rooms and forums for almost 20 years at this point. To say that I am not insightful or that I lack "experience" would put you in a position of ignorance with disregard for my "experience" as you refer to it.
I fully understand the situation, the mentality of the video chat and where the video chat will be in a few years.

Although I agree with Sirnaka, FFRChat has always attracted users that aren't...well...up to the most "intelligent" standards. I started going there over 3 years ago, and although it was more tolerable, there were still many people you would consider "stupid" in there. As the site grows, the population grows, and of course all of the stupid people will go to the chat. It's not like you can say "Oh, you're stupid, you're not allowed in here." As long as it's a public chatroom, there's nothing you can do about it. I'm sure the mods and admins are trying to keep it in order and keep the people that don't deserve to be there out of there. If you don't like to be around those types of people, choose somewhere else to go or go on a different website. That's all I can say about that =\

October 12th, 2006, 03:23 PM
So basically it comes down to this:
People who are stupid, retarded, lack brains, or half of them for that matter, PROCEED TO CHAT.
People who're smart, have a full, semi-smart brain, aren't 12, PROCEED TO FORUM.
If you're somewhere in the middle, you're in trouble.
P.S: I love how Sertman's "couple" of visits to the chat qualify him as someone who "knows how many "smart" people are there."
Then again, most people could just say "that number is small." And that's true. But having been there twice and not seeing any "constructive conversation" is far from a stretch. Sure, it doesn't happen that often, but it does, on a rare occassion, happen.
Try coming at a later time (when the kiddies have gone to bed) and you'll find most of the "half-brained" people there, having some kind of constructive conversation.

Well, I tried to value your comment Mr. S. (Can I call you Mr. S) but I just couldn’t because of the “If you don’t like it be gone.” comment. Left me formulating an opinion that went for the obvious. From your comment all I read was “We only care about the new comers so if you’re unpleased with the chat room situation I think it’s time you either move to the forum, games or just simple stop using the site.” yet I hear no “we’re working on trying to keep every one happy.”
You been chat moderating for 20 years you say? Well I’m assuming you’re conjuring up a plan on how to keep your faithful old VCR user and new comer happy. If not I’m sure some of us have some good suggestion.
So... Well, I'm going to ask for specifics here on what exactly you would like done, Sirnaka. You've complained a lot but not offered a valid sugguestion as to how to improve it outside of installing a constant dictator. A constant dictator for the chat room, someone to "rule with an iron fist."

We might disagree with what a Iron fist leader is but we do agree that a iron fist leader will swiftly punish those who break his/her law in a heart beat. No butts, or and.
For fun sake I asked two good friends to help me come up with a solution to the problem with out really looking in to it. This is what they came up with. They believe there is an age gap problem., there is a solution to the whole chartroom age gap while keeping them both happy. Create two main room, one for people of the age 18+ and one for those below the age 18, each room has their own subjects rooms like life thinking, gaming, the art etc, etc. The only communication they both can have is through the channel like thing that holds the help channel. Not only does it halt some pedos and perverts problems it’ll keep some order.
The solution wasn’t really thought out all clearly but hey it’s a good idea we came up with, in under 10
minutes. Please excuse the artistic effort.
I'm pretty sure he's just tired of being the on the butt end of Forum goer jokes...

I'm not quite sure why you want the main room to be 18+. I am sure alot of people would think 18 plus would mean anything goes and they would proberly end up being the problem group.
The fact that it is rather silly to have 18+ as only a small amount of users are actually above 18. Seeing as FFR's main target group are mostly all teenagers. I do not think the age group or content of the chat should be any higher.
JurseyRider734
October 13th, 2006, 07:18 AM
It would piss me off if I went into the chat and wasn't allowed to chat with the 18+ people (seeing as i'm 16), because the majority of the people I talk to in there are 18 or older. Cutting off communication with them would be really annoying, because I'd probably belong in the 18+ chat. You can't separate people based on their age, because there are 18 year olds who are immature and stupid and there are 15 year olds who are mature and intelligent. I can see you didn't reply to my post, but hopefully you read it.

Alright, just to give you guys an extra option in the future. I keep AIM and MSN and even sometimes Y! open for no reason other than for people to contact me if there is a problem in the chat. All my information is under my avatar. Other people contact me when there is trouble in the chat, so I am now expanding this option to everyone.
Edit. Oh and Sirnaka. The way you get that to work, is instead of doing an 18+, 18-; you do a Main, Main+, and Elite room. Everyone has the ability to enter main. Only through moderators and admins, can you be added to Main+, and then only through Admins can you be allowed to Elite.
Again, the problem with this is people begging to be added, so no matter what, you have the problem. Also, your way, you have the falsification of age data. At least My way keeps falsification out of the system, but instead, It creates bias and begging. There is always SOME problem.

yet I hear no “we’re working on trying to keep every one happy.”
When has Synth or any FFR Staff EVER said or even implied this? You CAN'T keep everyone happy. It is, quite simply, impossible.
If you don't like the people who frequent the chat, either try to ignore them or don't go there. It's that simple. We certainly aren't going to incovienience them (by restricting topics of conversation, or preventing people of different age groups from communicating) just to satisy YOU.
Seriously, if you want intelligent discussion, there's a forum called "Critical Thinking" that's just for that purpose. Go there, and stop trying asking the staff to force other people to change their non-rulebreaking behavior just because you don't like it.

A dude was taking a horse into town to sell with his kid. He and his kid were both walking the horse. On the way, one dude was all like, "That's a waste of a horse!" and the dad let his kid ride. Another person said, "Well, he should respect his elders," so the dad rode. The someone said, "They can both ride!" and they both got on. The horse reared and knocked the son and father off, and ran into the forest, disappearing. The son and the father were sad that the horse was gone, and towns people were angry that they didn't get to buy the horse. The moral?

Either way, as Cenright said, the only solution to the problem would be making Regular rooms and Elite rooms. This would bring more trouble now that the kids who can't access the 'Elite rooms' would just incessantly complain and bring forth chaos and destruction!
Thing is, I still fail to see the actual problem. The chat has always had it's idiots, and that will never change. The only reason I keep coming to the chat is because there are a few people who I can actually talk to, despite the large amounts of imbeciles who hang around there. You can't separate the chat community because that would show bias and unequality, which would in turn bring more trouble.
Don't say that *I* don't care about the chat.

having used FFR chat for over 3 years I have seen my fair share of dumbasses on it. There isnt much you can do to stop it though. Back in the earlier version of the chat there were no real mods, and even when the first people were modded the kick feature was easilly nulled by just refreshiing (no actual banning). Not to mention the lack of any sort of ignore feature.
So in a sense the chat has made huge steps foward imo fixing that and a rather large variety of security loopholes that it used to have (and to which many people were aware of).
As for the people that actually use the chat, if you are looking for actual conversation, your best bet is to come during late hours as XobserverX has already stated. Going in at around 3-5pm EST you will find mostly kids in the chat with a few exceptions here and there.
From a technical standpoint I think the chat is fine and is progressing smoothly, as for the people in it, there will always be dumbasses sadly. My only suggestion would be to increase the minimum age to enter to maybe 15 instead of 13. For a video chat it seems rather disturbing to allow 13 year olds in them, no matter what the content is, but that is just my opinion. And from what I have seen the vast majority of problems stem from perverted 13-14 year olds who come in and bother the girls in the chat asking them to flash nonstop. While people will obviously lie about their age to avoid bans, you are still inclined to ban quite a few people catching them off gaurd (i.e. new to the chat and telling stating they are below 15). Just an idea though =p

Hi,
I hope every one had a good weekend, any how I see I got plenty to reply to.
First of lets get down with the silly.
The moral?
In trying to keep everyone happy you make no one happy.
Also, the other moral is that you're a fag.
I got a story to counter act yours.
There once was a person named MalReynolds, that person came in to a VCR thread of suggestion and created a story of equality that any one who doesn’t hold the answer to keeping an order would pull out of their rear. Conjuring up a less than entertaining story about a male, who was dumb enough to let others influence his decision with out rationally thinking. Wining the heart of many who failed to see the error of his story. The end!
The error is quite clear, "They can both ride!" was a comment made to announce that they both could achieve success but it doesn’t necessary means at the same exact time. Time is due when patient is supplied. * Hope you can understand that one*
Well, Mr. MalReynolds you call me a fag right? Well I will scoop to your level for a moment and call you an imbecile giving you the title of a “TT” Tarded Troll. I like your ID name is means (Wrong) which is the state of mind you’re currently located. “Go QQ some more TT”
I'm not quite sure why you want the main room to be 18+. I am sure alot of people would think 18 plus would mean anything goes and they would probably end up being the problem group.
The fact that it is rather silly to have 18+ as only a small amount of users are actually above 18. Seeing as FFR's main target group are mostly all teenagers. I do not think the age group or content of the chat should be any higher.
Blitz., the concept of the 18 plus room wasn’t to allowed things to be done that you couldn’t in the fist place(Nassssty) it was an attempt to halt “SOME” pedophilias and harassment to the minors or illegal actions which are committed to minors in the chat. It wasn’t all thought out clearly but it was an attempt which proved to be a bit flawed. In my opinion it was a good starting suggestion which needs a bit more work, like take Cenright for example he contributed to the idea.

Cenright, I’m fully aware. I stated a bit while back, it’s a rough idea that was created in under 10 minutes out of sheer boredom and because I wanted to set an example of how ideas can lead to improvements. The thing is I never wanted to eradicate all problems I just wanted to help with SOME of them. My goal is to further improve the chat experience, in other words for example “I wanted to improve my house not renovate the entire place.” Does it make sense?
When has Synth or any FFR Staff EVER said or even implied this? You CAN'T keep everyone happy. It is, quite simply, impossible.
If you don't like the people who frequent the chat, either try to ignore them or don't go there. It's that simple. We certainly aren't going to incovienience them (by restricting topics of conversation, or preventing people of different age groups from communicating) just to satisy YOU.

Shashakiro, sweet ID name, well that would be sad because we know it is impossible to achieve but it‘s good to let them know you‘re working your way to helping them all at a time., but enough of my ideals, I’m going to sigh. Ok done I’m going to suspect that you didn’t really read my first post. Why did you quickly jumped in to the assumption that I have problems with the less educated people of the VCR? I can get along with them and to this point I can blend in with them quite well. I’m going to also conclude that you went by the comments every other person with the same answer went with.
I’m not here for the “inconvenient” of any one, (Even thought it might seems that way.) I’m here for suggestion and sharing of opinions on how to improve the chartroom experience, I just happen to share my ideas on stuff I felt needed aid with. They might sound a bit harsh but I felt it was the way I wanted to present them. I frown upon you Shashakiro, I though every one was here to satisfied me (sarcasms)… A joke right? Hey, hey now! I’m not forcing any one in to any thing I’m only suggesting, it’s entirely up to them to listen or disregard my comments. Am I shouting too loud to be ignored?
Unserious, Why is it that if I want to have a conversation about something I think it’s remotely interesting I have to zoooooom my way in to Critical thinking. Is that like a secret way to recruit logical thinkers in to a room filled of people who are arguing about overly used subjects. (Politics, Religions and Ethical problems.)
o_O;
Glad to see you understood what I was talking about.
I was simply talking about how the forum people constantly make fun of the chat and how stupid it (and it's members) are. I used "he" to describe that you are part of that (the chat members) group. Dan, first of all Sorry, but hey I’ll take half of the blame if you take some of it for the way you positions those words. “I'm pretty sure he's just tired of being the on the butt end of Forum goer jokes…” doesn’t exactly sounds like a positive comment. In reality I’m deeply sorry for the harsh comment. Yes, I’ll sallow your insults cause I earned them.
It would piss me off if I went into the chat and wasn't allowed to chat with the 18+ people (seeing as i'm 16), because the majority of the people I talk to in there are 18 or older. Yes I read them Eva, It was only a rough idea of what we came up with that is all. It has flaws and it has rooms for improvements. Why don’t you jump in and help it improve?
Calm down there Mr. Ricardo, Why would there be Chaos and destruction? What if it was like your Admin recruiting policy, “ask to be in the Elite room and you shall lower your chances to be invited.” if it is executed fair, correctly and in fashionable matter it could work. Once again I’ll sigh again. Ok I’m done Well if you’re not aware there’re bias. Old Chat users who left for forums mocking those who use the VCR., Do I need to name any one cause I can. Inequality never stopped the chat before. . Whoa there feisty Ricardo! no one said you didn’t cared about the chat. O_o;
having used FFR chat for over 3 years I have seen my fair share of dumbasses on it.
Hey, I respect your opinion and suggestions. Only one solution for perverted people. (Hit em all with a fist of biblical proportions!). ^_^
That is all for now folks.
Take care.
Ps: Monday coming up so maybe I can work on the rough idea a bit more.

It's futility because they're not carefully worded arguements. They're you complaining about something that cannot be fixed and even though people are trying to make it a better place, you refuse to acknowledge it, so why even bother acknowledging you.
By the way, "Mal" doesn't mean wrong, it means "Bad."
You're tearing at a story you assume I made up, but it's one to illustrate a point that's been passed around for quite a while in that if you let say, one grumpy person who is dissatisfied with everything influence the way you operate business when the majority are happy, you're going to end up letting everyone down instead of just that one person.
And buddy, I would rather let you down than anyone else.
You're attacking people and their explanations when you STILL don't have any sugguestions about how to make it better.
And you're idea for "elite rooms" leaves it open entirely to the moderators, who you seem to think aren't doing a good enough job as it is.
Think before you speak.
And thanks for the 'tarded troll' comment, I'm sure you had trouble coming up with another insulting word that started with "t" to go along with troll.
Also, is English your first language or do you just choose to murder professors and teachers in their sleep with you butchery of the language.
You're still a fag,

The Elite rooms would work, if it were done by age instead of invite. If you do them by invite you bring bias into the system and so always have complaints. That is the hardest thing to work out.
Unless....
There is a cleeque tab, right? What if there was a veteran tab? Only people who actually knew about it would have it, an all encompassing cleeque, that you can be part of without breaking your faction. All new people would not see it, or know about it even, so you dont have to leave for another room that they cant follow to, because you are already in it, without anyone outside having evidence of it.
That is the only kind of thing I can think of.... a 4th tab.

There's plenty of bias, I won't deny that. Thing is, making elite rooms would.. you know.. cause even more bias. You know.. one of the very things you're complaining about. It seems you just want to separate the chat into groups, and you be part of the 'elite' group.
Either way, most people know that I try to not be biased in my modding.
And.. as a spanish speaker.. I can factually express that 'Mal' means both Wrong and Bad.
Que mal! How bad!
Estas mal. You're wrong.

Having read through all of this and getting a clear understanding of whats being suggested, likely any form of "Elite" room would likely be determined by username age .. (signup date) unless someone had a better suggestion that could be VERY easily be implemented.
Otherwise, its likely that this would not change. There used to be a limitation to the chat to make it more of a tighter clique .. that was having it work by invitation only. Which we know .. basically leaves out all but a tight circle.
Suggestions are welcome .. even reasonable criticism. But complaints or implying that all chat users are tards and the forum users are somehow elite (its easy to find less than top notch forum users .. as the proof is public record) is not going to get users pouring into either the forum or the chat. The quote below illustrates things quite well.
Now if someone has some constructive criticism about functional changes that we have time to pursue, by all means lets hear it. Splitting up the users though doesn't sound like a very useful one to me, nor to others as has been clearly stated.
In either case ... as you can all likely see, FFR has been quite busy with changes and updates lately. The chat hasn't gotten much love lately in part because of all the other changes. (admin functions have seen some changes lately). We hope to revisit it in the next few weeks, but its all dependent on how things go going forward. We do our best.
Otherwise .. enjoy Socrates ;)

Nothing will really work if you do it by signup date. As really all that is doing is excluding and turning off people who could be great future chat users. Really trying to make elite groups is just producing more circle jerking and asshole elitism aganist newer users.
You can't really solve the problem of bad chat users with a automatic fix. The only way you can control bad users is with human mods.
Although I think it would proberly be worth it to make a mod maybe some automatic polling question when a person already in the 'good only room' wants to invite a person they think is worthy a pop up box appearing from all inside the 'good' room "[username wants [person invited] to join the 'good' room." Then a yes or no option. The majority would be the outcome.
I suppose you could say it's a council type situation where they decide and the majority wins. If you wanted it to become a bit more complicated and safer you could have the persons sign up date 'Age' Count towards how much their vote was 'worth'. Think disgea
This of course is a great idea 8). But the problem is it is very complex. Then again there is no easy fix for such a thing.
So really if you can't do that you should just leave it and possibly recruit alot of mods until there is atleast 1 active 24/7 which is rather silly.

Tt WrongReynolds., It’s futile cause they are complaints. you’re the only one taking stuff to the arse. You can choose to ignore or squall all over it.
“I can tell you’re a Spanish teacher.” (Sarcasm.)
I’m not tearing any thing, I already know the story but I was stating you pull it out of your pocket to win the audience. I’m well aware of the moral behind the lame story, It isn’t the point the point was that there is always solutions to every thing even if it looks complex. Your story had a solution that was obvious.
Oh, Mal you let me down in before 06.
I’m attacking who? Mind you The Dan event was a clear misunderstanding. If I’m aware I actually got people who are completely unaware of a site called Flashflashrevolution.com to sign up and help me come up with some thing under 10 minutes. Now imagine if we had enough free time like you Mal, with the thread trolling and all.
The elite room idea leaves it to the moderators you say? Well I’m entirely happy with that, I happen to think some Moderators are great. It just happens the bad kinds are over running the good kinds.
Thinking processing.
You’re welcome I was thinking of going with Treasure troll Mal or Tenacious Trojan Mal (As a sarcastic joke) but being you used fag a lot I doubt you would catch on to that one.
Tenacious-very determined or stubborn: tending to stick firmly to any decision, plan, or opinion without changing or doubting it.
Trojan- dedicated worker: somebody who does something with great dedication, determination, stamina, or courage

I was just saying YOU want the room to make everyone happy, and when you try that, it blows up. You talk with an air of superiority and you don't even speak english well, so that just makes you seem like a joke. I'm glad to see that you're straight on focusing on the topic, though.
Hey, get your knickers out of a twist and try to come up with some solutions that'll work or else stop complaining.

Lol, What are you talking about give it up Troll... I'm sorry if you see this “air of Superiority” around me but I’m sure you’re under the influence… If you’re having to explain your self on some thing you made clear before you have already lost, so please stop with your whole “Making every one happy crap.” I wasn’t aware I was “talking.” on here, I might have some grammar problems but if you go back to your earlier post you’ll find that you’re not a perfect grammar representative.
I made the thread for others to share their opinions on how to improve the Chat room imbecile, I didn’t create it cause I said I hold the answer to all it’s problems. There is no complaints from me now that I heard the chat-room is going to be worked upon. Hey MalReynolds aren’t you here to help improve FFR Why not be on your way and do your job, instead of squabbling on about with me?
Tarded Troll.

Sirnaka, you fail. You have no life, and you get pleasure from flaming people. You're married to a troll, and you just wanna have an affair with Mal because you think he's a troll. You, sir, are retarded. And you shouldn't have an air of superiority around you.

Sirnaka, while going through this whole thread and reading your responses as well as everyone else's, I'm going to have to say that while there is a huge problem with maturity and intelligence and chat, your suggestions and behavior are not helping your cause. You're just reducing yourself to flaming and attaching poorly shopped insulting images from 4chan memes.
Your grammar and spelling also have influenced the output of your tone and gestures, showing that you're not being mature and professional about this and you're just being simply arrogant and filtering out what you want to hear. Your disregard for listening to chat room regulars and forum staff in place of flaming, sarcasm, angst, ignorance, and self-justification make you someone to be ridiculed. I hope that in the future you become more professional in handling your side on a debate and do not reduce yourself to trolling this thread and the rest of FFR that already enjoys the chat.
