View Full Version : Possibly a dumb question...

But here it goes.
How can you possibly say that the quality, sync, and appearance of the files are the doing of the uploader? Sure appearance and quality are. But just so you know, I've played about 100 songs now, on multiple computers and NONE of them are synced. One of my songs even has a modified Mp3, totally effing up the song.
The sync issue is definitely a glitch in the coding so far and therefore this should be noted to players so they're not like "OMFG THIS FILE LIEK SUX! WAT A N00B!"
yeah, that's it. Pretty basic, and yeah... done.

If ur saying that the notes need to be hit like a bit late i think, i've noticed it; if that's not what ur saying, then i'm crazy.
i made a song and uploaded it, but it gave totally different steps than what i made: the one for PANTS. u should see it if that's what ur meaning. it gets my steps back if u DL it and play it on SM... >.< so strange

It's just that R2 is hard to time I think, they're on sync for me but I sure as hell cannot PA them.

They can go offsync if the mp3's sampling rate is too high (flash can't handle it and it's slowed down during the conversion; the steps aren't)
Although that's a BPM not gap problem.

When they say sync in the game, I'm sure they're referring to "oh hey this sim isn't even the right BPM... wtf it's just recorded gibberish with the wrong BPM" not "hmm the BPM seems right, but the gap seems off a little."

I can answer this.
Assuming Resonance syncs correctly (which it will very very soon, I promise!), the syncing of songs will then be completely up to the simfile uploader/creator. As of right now, it's one of a very few exceptions. However, once all the flashy lights are working and such, all the previously uploaded content will be reconverted.
Other then that, the only issues that could cause sync errors would be your computer specs and setup, however you would notice constant screen lag and such.

Out of curiousity, can you automatically re-sample mp3s at too high a sampling rate to a different frequency with what you're using over there? I'm sure I'm not the only one to make that mistake.

well one of my song's mp3 is completely effed. It is actually 163 bpm, and when you sample the song itself, it's sounding fine. However, when you play the stepfile, the song is no longer that speed, and the arrows are HORRIBLY off... oh well, when it gets fixed, I'll take a look-see.

it's not that bad on my 'puter but my steps are somewhat EASIER on Resonance (i.e getting Perfects) WTF? that's backwards from every body else! I dont get it.....

Actually, I just looked at this again. The song is messed up. When I say song, I mean the mp3. When I put it onto resonance, the bpm changed from 163 to 149. (I measured the bpm again.) So now I have arrows set for a 163bpm song running over a 149 bpm mp3... that would explain the horrible sync. Why would that have happened?

Woah, Resonace practically tripled the BPM of my song.

I believe this is an issue with the MP3 file. It's currently 24,000 Hz sampling rate -- from my understanding the Flash MP3 player can only handle 22,050 or 44,100 Hz.
A solution to this is being looked into.

Well, when I looked into Audicity's properties, it was already on 44,100Hz which I assumed what my previous mp3 was on (and that got slowed down) so I tried something else.
