View Full Version : The Item Suggestion Thread

This is where we suggest new items for Jason to make and give to the mods/admins for proper distrubuting.

I think Jason shouldn't be saying "chill" all the time without having some handy babrbituates/horse tranquilizers in his inventory! I'm thinking this item will make the person who got them used on mute-They can see the chat, but WHERE DID THE TEXT FIELD GO :O?!

Well, likely we will have several item threads going forward. A Mute item that works both in Channels and in Local, if I can help it, will be coming online this week ;)

The reason it isn't a fast one shot fix, is that I want to be creative .. perhaps muted users are muted from Local and only able to talk in a specific channel that is not the primary Help channel.

What I am looking for is a real deterrent to inappropriate behavior .. ban is simple sure .. but for real entertainment value .. if users are going to be jerks .. the least we can do is benefit from them. That in turn allows a demostration to those newcomers that there are means to manage this kind of behavior.

I know that perhaps it is presumptious and I am sure we will miss some things along the way, but as this is a work in progress, unlike the previous chat system, we will see some better progress.

All suggestions are VERY welcome .. so think outside of the box on things like this.

Thanks

JK

Throwing a quick idea out there: Items that affect your FFR experience outside of the Chat, maybe like access to different forum templates (or change of color theme for viewing the whole site) or a boost in Credits for the game, or new gameplay options (example: You got The Dizzy Dial! Dizzy Arrows unlocked in R1!") or, exclusive miscellanious content like...like...

(Gasp)

Custom Forum Titles!?

OH.

And Omega Points. Omega Points are a must-have.

Feedback between FFR and the Chat as well as other optios is going to be a very likely going forward.

So keep in mind, as we implement, we will post in the forum to let folks know whats being added.

Disagree. Rewarding chatgoers with forum prizes that forumgoers don't ever get (with the occasional exception) is absolute crap.

Maybe the forumgoers should suck it up, stop bitching, and get in the chat. There are some chatgoers that are quite intelligent that don't come to the forums, it would be the forumgoers' benefit of meeting the cool chatgoers.

Hmm....

If someone deserves to be banned, all incoming messages will be susbstituted with pre-generated ones that are hillarious. Forcing them to either stop typing, or leave.

You miss the point. If you're giving stuff to chatgoers, enhance their chat experience. It's incredibly stupid to give stuff to people for a medium they don't use while ignoring the people who do use that medium.

I don't see why the forumgoers have to "stop bitching" anyway. I certainly don't come into the chat with dumbass questions about how to use the forums, and as far as I'm aware there isn't a little section of the chat devoted entirely to forumgoers. If anything, forumgoers are getting the short end of the stick and should speak up about it more.

Thats the intent ;) .. among other things ;)

And regarding previous issues, likely nothing will go into the chat that in anyway benefits only chat users that forum users are not afforded .. other than functionality within specifically the chat rooms.

As it stands now, much like the rest of the site, signup date is key .. and user involvement matters. Its not like boom, chat users get all the top FFR scores or something because of something they do within the chat .. however we may allow for their scoring to affect some of their abilities within the chat.

Hope thats all clear

Just a more specific followup .. the goal in the near term is to enhance EVERYONE's experience .. not just group a,b,c.

Incidently, if the forumgoers wanted a specific room for them to hang, that could certainly be afforded. The harder part would be deciding who is this "specific" group.

The system is designed for users to be able to share and protect their own spaces of sorts.. so if one group or another wanted to "lay claim" to a space .. as long as they do "control it" they can.

That has been part of the design all along.

Umm...how about a land claiming item...
Like, you use it on a room and it turns to your choice of grey, green, or to the color of the side you chose...

Good one, and we have discussed it .. though we need to buckle down user management first .. or users are going to change the color of the map with a quickness.

Item suggestions here...

1) Spam Mirror - If a player sends 3 or more of the exact same message, uses caps for 3 or more sentences, or swears in 3 sentences straight, they get warped to a private room where they are locked for a 5 minute penalty, in which a bot will spam them with various insults and CAPS LOCK.

2) Gaydar - If anyone mentions a word related to his or her own gender realted sexual organ, the Gaydar will sound and an icon will appear next to the players name, signifying that player has fruity thoughts and feelings...

Just suggestions ;P

Good suggestions .. a version of #1 will likely come in some form

and parts of #2 may be part of the word filter that is being worked on.

Alright, if it's going to be sexual stuff I'm alright with that, you can make those HELLA funny. i.e. flash ur donkey balls baby
But don't censor [s-word] or [f-word]. It lacks taste.

Bling Bling - puts new messages through a filter, making the chat "ganster".

An item that makes it so people who are male have their name blue and females have their name pink/red in the actual chat, making it easier to hit on girls over the internet.

A false item of another item that makes it so a bot will private message really disturbing things, i.e. asking a girl to show their boobs over the webcam, describing its farts... anything that makes someone uncomfortable.

And maybe something like the Canadianity buff from KoL, eh?

Bling Bling- Eh.
Girl/Boy item- Rofl.
False item- OMG YES.
I don't play KoL.

LordKratosAurion

I think that the Girl/Boy item should get rid of the gender marks and just give everyone a random bar (between blue and pink) so if you don't pay attention, or someone just entered, they could be hitting on a guy over the internet.

But that is just my opinion.

Just so folks know .. likely the user management items are going to come onboard first.

What I mean by these are items that allow mods further manage the spammers, scammers and what not under control.

So until we fine tune the purely social aspect .. some of the more "exotic" items and rooms will take some time.

Game Token - "Buys" silence from the target for a set length of time. In other words, it shuts someone up. Mods get a huge supply and can distribute to trusted users when needed. Could be useful.
Scatterbeam - Randomly silence one user for a short time. Just for fun.
Defibrillator - "Revive" silenced users.
Clip-on ears - Make target labelled as "furry" rather than male or female for 24 hours. o.O; Random idea.

are there maybe going to be ranks given out to maybe show the "age" of a player like to show their seniority so that n00b users arent gonna accidentally piss sum1 off and get booted by sum1 who can boot them

jus a random thought i had lol

Short answer .. yes .. the more complex answer will be published as we smooth out the user experience.

Also, we want to make it so that even relatively "younger" users have a hope of a) defending themselves and b) actually better attacking "older" users.

Many discussions are going to be had over the next few weeks in regard to this.

It seems a bit off though. I mean, there are tons of 2003ers that are complete dolts and there are some 2006ers that aren't. It seems like a pretty bad way to judge who gets what power.

Life is hell that way ain't it? I know 35 year olds that should be grounded still ;)

As I mentioned, it is being discussed and refined .. and likely along the way we will make mistakes and rebalance as we go.

How do we do this without destroying the chat? Make it really hard for noobs to kick elders.

shortest answer .. yes .. but give us some time .. green rooms will forever be "safety" zones ..
