I just saw it last night and thought it was really really funny, particularly well acted and very sweet. I was just wondering if that was the general consensus around these parts.

I will more than likely be going to see this, it appears to be VERY entertaining. Also, I'm a huge fan of Steve Carell ever since his "News Broadcaster" part in Bruce Almighty. He appears to be very comedic.
This was an extremely funny movie...
I just feel bad because the idiot ID'd me and Nima when we were going in =P

Anuj... I'm 21 and went with Whorli and a friend of ours (both are also 21). We all got carded. Then again, he only looked at mine, since you only need 1 person 21+ to see an R rated movie (don't know how it is in Canada).
The movie itself was MUCH better than I expected it to be, and Whorli agrees. Overall, plenty of scenes that were corny enough to be funny. Plot is what is to be expected, but there were some damn funny lines in there. Pity at how bad the previews/commercials make the movie look... they could have done alot better. Hmm... maybe not, since all the funny scenes involve tits, profanity, or mass alcohol.
Regardless, I recommend those over the age of 16 to see it. Under that, you'll laugh... but there will be scenes that you don't get, and you really can't appreciate the movie unless you've been in the position of going to bars and trying to pick up chicks. So, Chardish might want to save his $10 on this one.

I heard that it was really good. So if I get the opportunity to see it, I probably will.

Jordy: watch the American version of the TV Show "The Office". Its quite funny, and stars Steve Carrell as well.

Blahblah, don't you mean Ebert and Roeper? Jesus. >_<
So Tass, what you're saying is if you're a virgin, you won't get some of the jokes? Sucks for me, because I'm already halfway to the title character's position. (I turned 20 a couple of months ago, but that doesn't mean that each and every innuendo goes over my head like they make it look in the trailers.)

Rhythm: what I mean is that if you haven't experienced some of the things that Andy (the character) goes through personally, it won't hold as much meaning for you.
I got more out of it, because I've been in his spot a few times... even post virginity. Like bar scenes, awkward moments, crazy chicks, etc.

I don't believe clipse, just because he looks 10.
I should go see this. The hard part will be finding a 17+ person to go with that isn't my parents... hmm

I went to see it with my girlfriend, I thought it was meh and same goes for her. It got pretty funny at some parts but then just was boring as hell =\

I never had a desire to see this movie..the plot seems really stupid. However it was number 1 at the box office for weeks so maybe its just me..but it feels like our culture is in the toilet lol...
And anyway im only 14 so its not like i could get in to see it if i wanted to..

Our culture is in the toilet because "The 40-Year Old Virgin" is #1 at the box office? Alright... So, what does it mean when a film like "Man of the House" or "Agent Cody Banks 2" is at the top? A sign of the coming rapture?
It was a good film. It was funny. It had moments. You're 14, you can't see it, so please refrain from judging or saying that our culture is in the crapper because of this film.

Besides the fact that at 14 you wouldn't understand half of the nuances in the film.
For the third time... you won't find this flick nearly as funny as it is unless you've tried to pick up chicks, or are a chick that guys have tried to pick up.

Although I think this movie would be mildly entertaining and may or may not be worth the 6 dollars it costs to get into the movies, I think that I'll pass and wait untill a lower intellectual colleague of mine brings it to me bragging that he/she bought it the day it came out on DVD. Also, probably because there is a 39 year old Technical Sergeant on my flight who is 39 and is rumored to be a virgin as well. Hence he acquired the nickname of 'The 39 Year-Old VIRGIN' *Laughs*. However no one on my flight has bravely asked him if the rumor is true or not, but he is entertaining enough for the time being.

flight? Commercial flight? Or.... care to explain. Tass is slightly confused. Clearly its something employement related... involving flight. Military?

Military is the correct assumption Tass. Sorry I didn't explain. I'm in the Air Force with Spec. A flight is like the army equivalent to a squad or platoon. Except flights are bigger than squads and im pretty sure smaller than platoons.
