I have to hit the arrows about half a second early for them to register. As you may guess, this makes it extremely hard to play. I am playing on medium quality which gives me 60+ fps. I realize it's a beta so don't scream at me "IT'S ONLY BETA!!!" but I'm just wondering why it does this... I'm using firefox and the latest version of flash.

Oh also FFR doesn't do this, only R2.

Try this first... 1) Plug your keyboard into the USB port.

If that doesn't fix it (it should)... 2) Run the game in IE (it sucks, I know.. but flash runs best in IE) and on low quality.

And if that doesn't... 3) Get a non-****ty computer.

Firefox does not like to run flash very nicely, so use IE.

What is your processor speed? That can have a very large impact on performance.

The performance is fine, I have an Athlon XP 3200+, 1 gig of RAM, it is a laptop so the keyboard is built in - if anyone is wondering it's a Compaq R4000 and I already said that it performs fine, it surpasses 60 FPS on medium (which is how I play it obviously)...

Must be either the keyboard or firefox. Does anyone else use firefox? Do you have a similar problem?

one solution..play stepmania and dont play that garbage r2Thanks for being an idiot, dip****, my question wasn't "What runs better than R2?", it was "Why do I have to hit the buttons early?" If I wanted your stupid-ass answer I'd ask a stupid-ass question. Go **** off.

I just tried Composer in Firefox. Apart from the graphics lagging a bit, I did not find that I would have to hit the arrows early.

Now are you exagerating the time or is it really 1/2 a second. Because when the songs were released, we did not have much time to go through and actually test how the stepmania gap would compare to the gap needed in R2. We just used the Stepmania one (Which should really work but again, macromedia's player isnt excellent).

It may be more like 1/4 of a second but it makes it so I cannot listen to the music and hit the buttons - that results in pretty much all misses. I just guessed 1/2 a second cause that's what it feels like.

But it's definitely a lot. And it's not constant for each song but makes them all rather hard to play and not music-dependant.

I play R2 on a much inferior laptop in Firefox on low quality with around 55~60 FPS and I don't have lag problems, much less that exaggerated. It runs fine in medium quality too, it's just a little sluggish. So I don't know what your problem could be.
