In the end of year 2004 the European Parlament accepted a list of suggestions, which is known as The Catania Report that is to be used as a new strategy to deal with the drug problem accross Europe.

This report supports alternative drugs policies that are different from the ones currently in effect. The Catania Report insists on the use of procedures that reduce the risks and problems drugs cause, instead of the current prohibition policy.

ENCOD (http://www.encod.org/) asks that all the citizens accross the Europe let their opinion be heard by signing the following petition:

http://action.encod.org/ic3/faces/public/ic3/home/petition

The Catania Report can be found from the official website of EU Parlament:
http://www2.europarl.eu.int/omk/sipade2?PUBREF=-//EP//TEXT+TA+P6-TA-2004-0101+0+DOC+XML+V0//EN&LEVEL=3&NAV=X

You can choose the language best suited for you from the upper right corner.

Should you comment on this thread, it would be for the best if you read the report abowe first.

I myself am for this report and have signed the petition for ( but not limited to ) following reasons:

Citizens should be provided with factual, scientific information about drugs, instead of information based on for example emotions. ( like WHO (http://www.who.int/en/) instead of personal experiences )

Addicts should have proper treatment instead of for example giving them alternative drugs ( such as Subutex ) to keep them off the illegal narcotics. This has not proven useful at all.

Money from drugs should not go to organized crime like mafia or terrorism.

People should have the right to kill themselves, if they have reason to do so, they probably need to. "Natural selection, working for a better tommorow." BTW- Drug threads are out, all possible opinions on the subject has been voiced. Please lock/move this, and post a link to another drug topic.

But look at the people who signed the petition...it's all students, artists, and musicians...and they're high most the time.

Honestly, like we didn't already know that?
